N95 – the journalists’ gadget of the year
By the Team on 11 March 2008
LONDON, England – The Pressies is a brand new annual gadget and technology awards set up by Andrew Lim at CNET. It’s a little bit underground (the awards are set up and run on Facebook) but it’s the participants that make the difference ‚Äì the awards are nominated and voted for by UK tech journalists. And, the Nokia N95 bagged the Gadget of the year in the inaugural 2008 event.
Andrew Lim describes the awards as “our version of the Oscars and a chance for the industry to vote for its favourite people and products”. The five categories include Gadget of the year, Technology woman of the year, Technology man of the year, PR event of the year and the Lifetime achievement award.
ShinyShiny’s Susie Weaser picked up the Tech woman of the year award whilst PocketGamer’s Stuart Dredge bagged the Tech man of the year and the Lifetime achievement award went to Mike Magee, founder of The Inquirer.
Okay, so it’s not quite the Oscars, but being voted Gadget of the year by the cream of UK technology journalists ain’t a bad thing!
