Greenfield appointed new Head of Design Direction

By the Team on 17 March 2008

HELSINKI, Finland - This August will see a new Head of Design Direction joining Nokia as Adam Greenfield, author of Everyware: The Dawning Age of Ubiquitous Computing takes up the post at Nokia HQ.

Adam’s remit will include the service and user interface domains and he’ll be working with Nokia’s design staff. Before then, Adam will be uprooting himself and his family from New York, where he currently lives.

Adam had this to say about his appointment

“Needless to say, this is not the kind of move one
contemplates lightly. As it happens, though, we both fell in love with
Helsinki when we spoke at Aula two summers ago, and have often
discussed spending more time there. So when this incredible opportunity
came along, I can fairly say I jumped at it. It just felt like the
stars were aligning, you know?”

As well as being an author, Adam instructed a class at New York
University’s Interactive Telcommunications program called Urban
Computing
and is now busy finishing his second book. Adam is also a
prolific speaker and is this week speaking in London at The Royal
Society’s “From computers to ubiquitous computing, by 2020″
.

Take a look at Adam’s “Everyware: Further down the rabbit hole” presentation at the LIFT07 conference in Geneva.
