Nokia Chat creator teaches you how to chat
By Mike on 01 August 2008
INTERNATIONAL – Recently we’ve been a little obsessed with getting under the skin of Nokia Chat, the new beta app for instant messaging with GPS elements mixed in for good measure. On my mission to understand this sliver of software inside-out I spoke in depth to the man behind it, product manager Kristian Luoma. Well, now he’s popped up on the Beta Labs blog as a guest author to teach us how to configure Nokia Chat to your favourite IM client on PC.
The tutorial takes you through the step-by-step process for getting your instant messaging client of choice working seamlessly on your phone via Nokia Chat. I must say it’s a little bit of a pain, in the sense that there are a number of fiddly steps you have to go through to get it done, but Luoma does hand-hold you through the set-up in a simple fashion. So it’s definitely worth the 5 minutes of pain to get yourself sorted.

Have you had a chance to use Nokia Chat yet? What are your thoughts about it, and do you think this could be the sort of application that may change the way you behave with IM on the move? Let us know in the comments section below.

I have used Nokia Chat, but I rarely find someone to chat with. Nokia needs to team up with a famous mobile IM service provider such as mig33, and in South Africa’s case MXit, in order to create awareness.
