Video: Plusmo whips up a widget storm

By Mike on 15 August 2008

SANTA CLARA, USAPlusmo is the the second developer to step into the spotlight thanks to the 2008 Forum Nokia Innovation series program, with its widget-focussed app of the same name.

We’ve touched on widgets and their growing significance in our constantly maturing bite-size culture where we all demand to digest info in quick and easily digestible snacks. Plusmo is one of those apps that’s sure to contribute to the fast adoption of a widget-based mobile sub-culture, primarily because it encourages anyone non-technical to create widgets that can be simply shared online and used via your mobile.

Almost 25,000 folks have already fashioned widgets using Plusmo. I just had a go at making a mash-up news feed of some of my favourite sites, and the step-by-step process was dead simple, meaning my end product worked without me having to use an ounce of technical talent (sadly something I’m not hugely blessed with). That said, if you do have some some HTML, JavaScript and CSS smarts, Plusmo is tailored to let you build something a bit flashier, yet it’s designed to remain a simple and swift process.

Srinivas Mandyam, CTO and Co-Founder at Plusmo stepped in front of the camera to give a full lowdown of Plusmo and a showcase of it in action. Watch the full video below…

Have you had a chance to use any Plusmo widgets, or have you created one? Let us know, and tell us what you think.
