Notes from the departures lounge

LONDON, England – This morning I’m writing from Heathrow’s terminal one (not as bad as they say) but tomorrow morning I’ll be updating from Helsinki. See, this week sees the second annual “The Way We Live Next” conference hosted by the folks at Nokia Research Center. Last year we struggled with the low light of Oulu, but this year we’re being treated to insights and updates directly from Nokia HQ.

I’ve managed to skip away from my fellow UK journos for a few minutes to tell you what’s happening. The main even kicks off tomorrow with a series of talks from the likes of Bob Iannucci who’ll be talking about the future of mobility, Leo Kärkkäinen on the focus of research towards 2015, Jan Blom and Jussi Impiö on emerging markets and Teppo Paavola on turning innovation into money (or revenue, to give it its preferred moniker).

There’ll be a bunch of other speakers throughout the two days along with some interview time with key people. Myself and Charlie will be bringing you all the updates as they happen. Personally I’m hoping last year’s Karaoke doesn’t make a reappearance.

Apparently, it’s popular in Finland.
