I think that iPhone and Android has some great features, some new feautures that people have no idea until now and that's why it is making a huge success. Of course, speaking about iPhone, most of its success it's because of the design.
But I would not prefer to buy any of these devices. They are new at the mobile market, they have not the knowledge that Nokia does, or Samsung, SE, whatever.., and i've already had a lot of mobile phones, and the Nokia and Siemens Mobile devices, they were the most liable phones I've ever had.

I have a quick quibble with your G1 linkage. When you mention that the G1 doesn't come with a video recorder, you're linking to a story stating the G1 will not have a video player built in at launch. This may be due to open standards and video codecs, as many Linux distributions also cannot playback certain codecs out of the box. A quick software update usually fixes this. I have little doubt that the G1 will have the ability to playback many if not most video codec types.

As for a video recorder, we'll need to wait and see. But I'd bet that video recording won't take very long to emerge, as developers seem very anxious to write apps for the Android "ecosystem". The ease of getting apps for the G1, and the ease of installing apps over the air should charm consumers. These are certainly exciting times!
