<description>Yeah, certainly agree with the need for a Download!-revamp. The current version is quite frankly speaking pointless - bad and confusing interface and way too little content...

It&#039;s especially puzzling to see no changes about this when Nokia has a very nice online app store up and running already: the N-Gage app. Why not use the store part of N-Gage and its backend, adapt it to a slightly more sober interface and open this up for developers to submit their programs, with a fair revenue sharing program?
And while Nokia is at it, they could help with the app signing process for submitted programs. This would take away a major obstacle for many people who want to develop Symbian apps, as far as I can tell...

Oh, and as Roland (hi, btw ;)) mentioned above: Nokia should make the app store rules clear right from the start.
Add a little competition with prizes or something similar to get PR about the new store out there, and I think it might well become a success after all...

<description>Charlie, I&#039;m not sure if you remember me from Latitude&#039;s Online Marketing at the Crossroads event way back in 2005, in London. (I was Latitude&#039;s director of marketing and organized the event.) I&#039;m now in Silicon Valley, working as director of marketing for Qik, so was pleased to see us get a mention on your blog! We&#039;ll have to catch up on one continent or another someday soon...Thanks again for the nice mention!

<description>I agree on the Download! topic.

I&#039;ve wrote a follow-up to your conveyer-belt post yesterday - but the trackback is not showing up for some reason. Sorry, but this means a manual trackback:
http://www.renegadefanboy.com/2008/10/nokia-up-gateway-to-all-updates-for-your-phone/

I think there is still a perfect opportunity app stores are just the beginning - so Nokia could do The One, as it likes so much :-)

(But it has to be out in 1H09.)

<description>Was about to comment about this, but I think http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/news/item/8151_The_horror_that_is_Nokia_Downl.php sums it up pretty well.

Nokia certainly has a serious issue with this, and should invest more to get this better, instead of wasting money on silly ads ( http://www.openatownrisk.com/ ) ;-)
