Days of Change

By James on 08 January 2009

GLOBAL – First shown at the Nokia World Conference in Barcelona last month, the Days of Change video is now available on our YouTube channel. Pulling out plenty of key moments from the evolution of communication, the video is packed with moving visuals of our history and where we’ve come from. The telegram, the Model T, the first TV, the introduction of consumer electronics, airliners, space rockets and satellites all feature to tell a story that might just make you think a little wider about both where we’ve come from, and where we might be going.

The voice-over too is interesting. So much so that I’ve transcribed it below. Have a read, a look and a listen and let us know what you think. It’s the start of a new year, what do you reckon is going to happen this year that’ll help transform what we do and how we do it?

Days of Transformation – transcript
Since the beginning, our world has been powered by days of change.
Change began with a single day.
Like the day we first learned how to share our stories, and, by sharing, our stories changed the way we thought about our world.
Days that showed us new possibilities, new ways to connect, that changed our society, our cities, our lives.
And the more we changed, the more we understood about our world, and the more we understood, the closer we became to the people, places and things that mattered to us most.
These were the days that transformed our world, In ways that we could never have foreseen when those days began.

Now think of a day like today, full of challenge and change, where technology is transforming the way we interact with the Internet, and how we experience our world.

When new ideas are being shared that will prove to us what is possible if we think beyond just “I”, if we think about “we”
All over the world, people are sharing, connecting, joining the conversation.
Working together in new and better ways to choose where tomorrow might take us.

It’s in our hands, let’s grasp it and shape it into something that inspires us, transforms us, that marks the beginning of a new day.

Nicely made, but what is it that this is actually about? What do you want to say, aside from the need to use change in a positive way?
