Twitter on S60
By JBC on 24 February 2009
GLOBAL – There’s no stopping the current hurricane that is Twitter and although there are plenty of options for accessing Twitter on your S60 device (including Stew, Dabr and Twibble) but now there’s a new kid on the block thanks to the folks at MobileWays.de. News of Gravity comes courtesy of The Guru who reckons the app “runs great on any S60 3rd Edition smartphone”. We’ve yet to try it out, but going by Symbian-Guru’s review of the beta, it looks pretty appealing.
The app is fully featured, according to The Guru and although still missing some key functionality, the initial usability looks good. With a range of tabs on offer, you can scroll through them easily, going from left to right, as you would any standard S60 app. Each ‘Tweet’ features the users’ avatar and you can reply, retweet or access any included URL simply by clicking on the Tweet.
We’re all big fans and users of Twitter here on Conversations and it’s great to see Apps like this in the works. We’ve always been treated to great apps for our S60 devices, but recent announcements from Forum Nokia, such as the addition of the Nokia WebRunTime to Aptana Studio, and the news of Ovi Store makes me think the floodgates are about to open up.
To get things going, I’d like to put together a list of the top 10 most wanted apps from Ovi Store. Feel free to list yours below and in a few days we’ll compile them all into a single list.

Thanks for the link! It should be noted that Gravity is currently in closed beta, though the developer will probably be looking for a few 5800 owners to test a new S60v5-compatible version next week. He also hopes to have a publicly available S60v3 build available in early March.

“The app is fully featured, according to The Guru and although still missing some key functionality, the initial usability looks good.”
So which is it?
Fully featured? Or missing key functionality?
Having said that, what does “fully featured” even mean?

@Ben, Sorry, should have made that clearer. Fully featured means it utilises core device functionality – so, rather than running like a Java application might, with its own user interface, Gravity utilises the features available to it from S60.
When I talk about missing key functionality, that relates directly to Twitter. Some features which you’d expect to see in a Twitter app are currently missing.
BTW- Thanks for the nudge on the site terms text, all fixed now!
