Ovi Contacts updated and polished
By Mike on 26 February 2009
GLOBAL – Earlier today a new beta version of Ovi Contacts was made available on the Nokia Beta Labs site. The S60 3rd FP2 version promises to run a lot smoother and offer a much slicker experience, according to Kristian Luoma, Product Manager for Ovi Contacts.
He posted a piece on the Beta Labs blog this morning explaining what to expect from the new version, and champions the Beta Labs community in the face of horrible hiccups. Read on for highlights, plus find out how you can help improve Ovi Contacts.
Kristian explains that “since releasing of the first version, we’ve been able to fix a lot of bugs… It should run a lot smoother than it did before.” He also highlights that the process of finding your friends promises to be far snappier: “In addition, we improved the search – many people have been complaining that it’s hard to find contacts. Hopefully now, you’ll be able able to connect with your friends more easily.”
Alongside mentioning the improvements, Kristian openly addresses what he calls a “horrible day” when the Ovi Contacts database failed earlier in the month, but draws great encouragement from the strength and support of the Beta Labs community:
“I feel that I need to sincerely thank you all. For us, it has been encouraging to see the support despite the problems. So, thanks for your Beta Labs spirit. We need that. Never let that spirit go.”
The team is also running a survey about Ovi Contacts to help improve the app – you can help by getting involved, so if you’ve used the service simply click here to help Kristian and the Ovi Contacts team make the app even better.
