Nokia N97 hits the T3 Hot 100

By JBC on 06 March 2009

LONDON, England – The Nokia N97 hasn’t even launched yet and it’s already snagged the number 3 slot on T3 magazine’s list of the 100 hottest gadgets. Drawn up by the editors of the esteemed tome, the N97 is credited with being “the cleverest, most technologically advanced handset to date”. Lofty praise indeed!

The Hot 100 list is put together by the folks who put the magazine together (disclosure: I was previously editor-in-chief of T3) who “trawl the corners of the globe for the most exclusive gear” before drawing up their list of favourites. You can see the full list in the latest edition (T3 is published in 24 countries around the world) or on the specially-created website that sits alongside T3.com.

So, there are two other products ahead of the N97 in the list, which is a little disappointing, but we’re not bitter and tip our hats to the un-named here winner. The N97 wasn’t the only Nokia on the list though. In at number 24 came the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic which the team described as an “excellent MP3 player” which also “has the ability to make phone calls”. The Nokia 96 snagged number 66 on the list whilst one of my personal all time favourites, the Nokia E71, was keeping the number 76 slot warm. Not bad considering the device has been on sale since last summer!

Why do you think they have chosen that Palm device for nº1?
What features it does have, that N97 doesn’t?

@Carlos Silva, Because that phone is actually out and being used. Well, that would be my guess. It is also currently being used by more people. I definitely think the N97 will knock it off it’s short lived platform soon. I can’t wait!!

    Hi

How is the user interface of N97? I tried Nokia Xpress UI but it is sluggish and very slow. The touch doesnt feel good. Will the N97 have the same interface? or it going to be smooth? Has any one actually tried the phone?

I enjoy live TV on my N96. How will Nokia get me to upgrade to the N97? Or will it have DVB-H depending on the market.

I read T3, but I think Palm Pre is far away from N97. Like Earth and the Sky.
Palm Pre specification is under N97.
    FAR AWAY from N97…!!!!
Why T3 put Palm Pre on #1 ? Just because it’s OS and lightweight?
    You are funny T3…

N97 is not very good! Why do some people say that its abilities of playing video is worse than N96.It seems also bad to play game. Why don’t you use OMAp 3430 as the cpu?to save the costs of N97? its cpu is even worse than 5630 .I can’t understand.
