Comes With Music – taking stock of its achievements

An industry-changing way to offer music, Comes With Music has been growing step by step. Below, I talk about the service, point out a ton of interesting things, and list all the Comes With Music devices. Read on to learn more.

Jeepers keepers!
While the team here is chuffed over Comes With Music, we think more can be done in communicating what Comes With Music is. So, we can’t stress enough that not only do you have access to the whole catalog (now weighing in at over 6 million songs), but you keep all the songs you downloaded once the subscription time period is up (12 or 18 months, depending on country). And do the math: in 12 months you can listen to something like 150 thousand songs non-stop. We dare you.

Oh, there is a catch, a good one. We found out that for up to two years after your subscription has expired, you can download that music all over again if you lose your phone or your PC.

Popping up like dandelions
The Nokia Music store has been spreading very quickly. It’s now available in 15 countries (Australia, Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom). Of those countries, Comes With Music is available now in the United Kingdom and Singapore, in Australia later this month, and coming soon to Italy, Sweden and Mexico. That’s not bad, considering all the deal-making involved. We’re looking forward to Comes With Music spreading out to even more countries.

Show me the devices
Nokia has steadily been rolling out Comes With Music phones at different prices and shapes. Indeed, two were announced yesterday, the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic and the Nokia 5330 XpressMusic. That brings the number of Comes With Music phones to 10, including the Nokia 5220 XpressMusic, Nokia 5310 XpressMusic, Nokia 5320 XpressMusic, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, Nokia N79, Nokia N85, Nokia N95 8GB and Nokia N96. Will musicians now starve?
The whole foundation of Comes With Music was built by Nokia together with the music labels, such as Universal Music Group, SONY BMG ENTERTAINMENT, Warner Music Group and EMI Group. Also, Nokia is working hard to widen licensing deals, such as work done on the recent pan-European licensing.
