Ovi Store and Nokia N97 center-stage at Nokia Developer Summit 2009

ESPOO, Finland – Nokia has officially inked the Nokia Developer Summit 2009 into the diary, reserving 28-29 April for the event which will be held this year in Monaco, with the upcoming Ovi Store taking the lead role. Of course, the vast majority of us here aren’t mobile app developers, but this event remains a significant talking point because the Nokia Developer Summit 2009 will play host to a heap of new innovations and open interesting new avenues for mobile engagement, with the ultimate benefit being that many of these exciting new approaches could soon come to life on our existing handsets via the Ovi Store (and certainly upcoming app-happy devices such as the Nokia N97).

An intense couple of days, the Nokia Developer Summit 2009 is geared up to help developers to get their apps easily distributed via the Ovi Store, as well as explore the rapidly evolving mechanics of cross-platform development and web runtime optimization. Plus there’s a great line-up of keynote speakers, addressing some of the broader questions of mobile development and where we’re headed.

Tero Ojanperä, Executive Vice President for Nokia Services, is on the frontline of Nokia’s charge to create compelling interactive content and develop pioneering new ways for us to engage with our devices and other people. Tero will kick-start the Nokia Developer Summit 2009 with his keynote speech, “Developing for the era of social location”. He’ll then hand the stage to Lee Williams, Executive Director of the Symbian Foundation, who will deliver a talk on the “Evolution of open mobile platforms”.
