Nokia 5800 Comes With Music launches in Brazil

By Mike on 29 April 2009

SAO PAULO, Brazil -The Nokia 5800, with Comes With Music close in tow, has grown into something bigger than perhaps anyone could imagine it would have become, with already over 3 million sold (and could possibly become the most popular device in Nokia’s history as OPK explained last week). Today marks another milestone, as the 5800 Comes With Music has now officially set foot of the sandy shores of Brazil.

We took stock of the achievements of Comes With Music last month (read more), a service that has become inextricably linked to the poster-child 5800 (though by no means exclusively, with CWM available on the N95 8GB and other XpressMusic devices). And it’s no secret that here on Conversations we’re fans of the service, so we’re really pleased to see it hit the home of samba – both Charlie and I are half Brazilian, which sort of makes the Conversations team a quarter Brazilian! But I digress. Read on to find out more about the 5800 Comes With Music in Brazil, along with details of how you can get hold of it and full details on the local Brazilian record labels that are now available via Comes With Music.

The new 5800 Comes With Music for Brazil has immediately gone on sale at the Nokia Store in Sao Paulo (Rua Oscar Freire, 849) and on Nokia’s Brazilian online store. For its first month on Brazilian soil the 5800 Comes With Music will be available exclusively through the TIM operator for BRL 399 on the TIM Brasil 250 plan which comes with an unlimited data package, meaning anyone signing up can download and keep as many free tracks as you want without any extra cost.

Brazilian musos will be pleased to find out that a bunch of local record labels have been added including, Tratore, Som Livre, Deckdisc, ST2, Building Records, Atração.

Almir Narcizo is president of Nokia Brazil, and had this to say about today’s launch:

“We know that the Brazilian consumer is among the world’s top consumers of national music, consequently we made sure to contact major labels and local independent labels as well. With Nokia 5800 Comes With Music we are making available the opportunity to have access to this content to them and to everyone that enjoys our music, with a product that will revolutionize the ways of digital consumption”

@NOKIA-BLOG.net, Yes, born in Recife, but left when I was just 3 to live in London ever since… hence my spoken Portuguese is horrible I’m ashamed to say, and written is virtually non existent :( Still got lots of family in Salvador, so the connection is still strong!
