Nokia N97 to start selling worldwide this month [UPDATE]

By JBC on 02 June 2009

GLOBAL – This month the Nokia N97 will start selling in 75 countries around the world. Yep, that’s right. It’s definitely happening this month, and it’s definitely happening in 75 countries. We don’t have exact dates for specific territories just yet, but we’re expecting those to be revealed in the coming days. What’s more, one of our number has actually been to the factory where the Nokia N97 is being made and has seen real product rolling off a real production line (we should have a video later today video in this post).

Jonas Geust, Vice President and head of Nokia Nseries said

“The Nokia N97 is an important step towards our vision of delivering a highly personalized Internet experience. Fuelled by a multitude of music, maps, games, media and applications via Ovi, the Nokia N97 transforms the Internet into an experience that’s completely tailored to the tastes and interests of its owner.”

The Nokia N97 is possibly the most hotly anticipated device going on sale this year and I for one can’t wait to get my hands on one. I was blown away when I saw it at Nokia World back in December and having handled a few prototypes since then, can say it’s come on leaps and bounds since.

What’s more though, we’re being promised a slew of upgrades over the coming months, with a range of new features and functions due to hit the device in the second half of 2009.

You can check out what we’ve already written about the N97 in our N97 story archive. Alternatively, if you’re anticipating the N97 as much as we are, let us know what you’re looking forward to the most in the comments below.

[UPDATE] We’ve just got word the Nokia N97 will go on sale in the UK on June 19 for £499 sim-free at the Nokia Flagship store. It’s also available to pre order from the UK Nokia online store. It’ll go on sale on contract with networks from June 26.
