Peppery prognostications pertaining to the parcel

By Charlie on 12 June 2009

GLOBAL – Goodness. This Pass the Parcel game does not seem to end. We are in Day 12 and still have not reached the heart of the parcel. But that hasn’t dampened anyone’s spirits, as folks are still guessing away. Ranging from the Nokia N97 to the Nokia N86 (to a ton of great speculations), everyone seems to be getting into this guessing game.

As I did last week, I’d like to get you thinking of other possibilities. This last week has revealed some things that might make you think one way, though I would like to speculate about other things that fit the features that have been revealed so far. Want to join me in this speculation? Please do, read on.

Collapsing the range of possibilities
Ok. Of all the features revealed this past week, S60 surely narrows the range of things we’re talking about. Or, at least, that’s what everyone thinks. Remember, this could be something that works with S60, not necessarily have S60 in it. And, looking at other mobile OSes, there’s no reason to think this is actually a mobile phone.

But, who am I fooling? The parcel revealed also a multi-media feature set that you would expect from S60 – camera, video and music players, and stereo speakers. Clearly this is something related to playing and enjoying music and video. Right?

And, what is for sure is that the other features revealed in the last two rounds are narrowing down the possibilities even further. A new home screen and contacts bar? These suggest a Net-connected, Widget-wielding, media-slinging social communication device.

Yeah, you know what I mean.

<whine>”What about meeeee?”</whine>
We never expected so much attention. And we really weren’t sure if this game was right for us to do (was it?). But we’ve been having fun and kinda want to thank you all (again) for all the comments and trackbacks so far. Sure, the person who unwraps the last layer wins the whole parcel, but I think I’ll have to look into my bag of goodies and see what I can find for you folks who were not on the list. Maybe I could pick a name from all the commenters for a little something (not sure what, yet). Good idea?

lol – I’m sure you won’t find too many people that argue with that fantastic offer. It seems Nokia continues to keep us all on tenderhooks with regards to their products once more!!

I have really enjoyed past advertising campaigns like the cryptex puzzle website and fake newspaper puzzle site. This is yet another sting in the bow of Nokias world class advertising department, and I can’t wait to see what’s in the package! I hope there aren’t too many wrappers left – what size object could still be in there???

i know its my Nokia Superman!! hahaha, ever heard of intergalactic visor and magnetic shield? fits all description!!

on the serious note, i think its a new phone which is an upgrade to the 5800 XpressMusic, the 5900 XpressMusic, this time with new contact bar and a widget integration like the N97, shkadov thruster and positronics c”,

    well see in 7 days!

Now that you talked about it, there’s someething about all this “pass the parcel thing” that doesn’t fit..

I was almost sure it wasn’t related to an S60 device, and when i saw you talking about it, it made it a bit more clear to me (or not…).

Resuming: I think Nokia’s secret is something that agregates all the goodies (or almost) of S60 in a “less expensive” device, maybe an S40 device or a new SO.. Some “Mid-Range” device, targeted to the “less fortunate” ones that need a G.I.F.T….

    Am i close?

Btw, that “goodie tho the ones who replied” sounds good.. Will it be an N97? XD

If the parcel is supposedly being opened by a different person each day, how come the hands and even the watch are the same every day? ;)

My guess is still on a lowly (but commercially important) 5530, of course) or whatever the leaked new touch screen device is.

    Hopefully something more exiting though!

It has to be, I would like slim E series touch screen phone with capacitive screen and good internals (i.e. fast CPU and GPU and more RAM).
