<description>Hi, thanks for uploading my message on literacy through mobile phones. We decided to expand the project and I wonder if Nokia wants to take a part of it. If you are interested, please send me an email.

Thank you

<description>Hi, My name is Ichiro, UNESCO staff in Pakistan.
Let me inform you how Nokia phones are helping adolescent girls here. In Pakistan, there are 60 million people who are not literate. Majority is women.

We are using Nokia Phones to promote literacy for adolescent girls and women in rural areas in Pakistan.

The idea is so simple. We send SMS messages in the national language to learners three times a day. They read, reply and practice hand writing on their notebook.

A few weeks ago, I visited literacy centers to meet learners. They enjoy learning a lot through Nokia phones. Due to the budget limitation, we use not high-spec model of the phone at this moment. However, when smart phones become less expensive, learners will get those and enjoy learning more using SMS, free email accounts like gmail, hotmail, yahoo etc and internet.

Yes, Nokia is CONNECTING PEOPLE. Well in our programme, Yes Nokia is empowering people.

This initiative was reported to this site. Please take a look.
