Nokia Booklet 3G dated for US launch
By Mike on 13 October 2009
NEW YORK, US – Following Germany we’ve just received official word that the Nokia Booklet 3G will be hitting US soil from mid-November, exclusively available to pre-order through Best Buy and available on AT&T from October 22. Read on to find out more about the Booklet 3G’s Stateside debut.
If you live in the US you’ll be able to order Nokia’s first mini laptop PC though Best Buy’s website or in-store from the 22nd of this month, and the launch deal sees the Booklet 3G being made available for $299.99 with an AT&T Data Connect plan two-year activation. The folk at Best Buy are offering a free in-store service too, helping anyone buying a Booklet to activate the device, get a tour of the new Windows 7 operating system, as well as one-to-one walkthroughs of Nokia solutions such as Ovi Suite and Maps.
Nokia CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, had this to say about news on the launch of the Booklet 3G in the States:
“Nokia understands mobility like no other company and recognizes that the most ‘powerful’ device is the one that doesn’t have you running for the power plug or network point. By combining the Booklet’s sleek design, impressive features and competitive price together with the new Windows 7 operating system from Microsoft, AT&T’s nationwide 3G coverage and Best Buy’s unmatched national retail footprint, we believe we have a winning combination for U.S. consumers.”
If you haven’t seen it, here’s probably the coolest video of the Nokia Booklet 3G to date…

$299 is pretty high when you slap on a $40/month data plan that only gives you 200mb of data! $60/month gets you a whopping 5GB. Rip-off.

@Ben,
I don’t think its that high, considering AT&T offers other lower spec’d netbook at $200 range. For $299, you get so many extra benefits + all in one portable device, that would be useful to many.
But this is certainly not the common man’s device, which i don’t think Nokia wanted it to be anyways.

Being a Nokia lover, its pathetic to know how bad marketing they do and how bad planning they do when launching products like these. Like the Engadget video, (probably the first video posted today by any blog) after the press announcement, it shows how 3g was slow on the netbook after which Nokia had to clarify that they were using UK version of netbooks, hence speed was slow. But damage had already been done by the video to numerous readers, who won’t come back and read again the updated article.
Why didn’t Nokia use a US-version of netbooks that would run fast AT&T 3g? Also the guy in the video was not even demonstrating the strong points of the netbook. Pathetic display on a US launch, where Nokia is the last in the race.

What is the secret about the GPU??? What is it?? Why are they not revealing it in the specs – you know why?……
Because its probably rubbish….and…..wont play HD satisfactorily!!!
