Ovi Store update – redownload enabled
By JBC on 28 October 2009
GLOBAL – Great news for Ovi Store fans. From today, you’ll be able to redownload any apps, games or content from the Ovi Store. If anything happens to your Ovi downloads you’ll now be able to log back onto the Ovi Store and, with the device used for the original purchase, redownload anything you’ve already paid for. The guys over at the Ovi Blog think of it as “content insurance”.
The latest release of the Ovi Store brings with it a simple way to restore any content you’ve already purchased or downloaded. The guys have even done a quick video (below) to show you what you need to do.
What’s more, the latest release also brings improved search so finding more of what you want will be easier than ever. We’d tell you more about it but we’re actually busy fishing out new nuggets to download. If you’re on the hunt for new apps, don’t forget to check out mydailyapp.com for a fresh daily dose of the latest and greatest to appear on Ovi Store.

MASSIVE ISSUE
“with the device used for the original purchase”
so if you drop and break your device, kiss goodbye to all your apps and expect to pay again.
TERRIBLE and the reason why I’ll never buy from ovi store again until purchases are linked to my account not IMEI no.

True. I wouldn’t want to get into a system with a device that may be around for a year or two and then discard everything i’ve built up there. In some recent Mac ads they had this girl carrying a box which read “Amy’s stuff” or something and she pondering to whom she should give her box. Now, that’s our stuff in the phone, you know.

Had a problem redownloading Gravity. OVI customer care couldn’t help as they could not find any info concerning my purchase eventually contacted mobilesways.de who sorted the whole issue for me so never will I ever purchase direct from OVI until they sort the mess out.

Ramzi, See if the redownload feature does the trick. Here’s the steps: 1) Update to the latest Ovi store client. You’ll be prompted to upgrade the client when you next start the application or alternatively go to store.ovi.com on your Nokia mobile browser and select the link to download the latest client
2) Sign-in to your Ovi store account and navigate to “My Stuff” You’ll be presented with a list of your entire download history
3) Select the lost item from the list in My Stuff and then click on download. Best – Eric

All, My name is Eric and I’m with the Ovi store team. We’d like to clarify one point. Redownloading is possible on a replacement device as long as it’s the same model or a compatible one. You can check your device OS compatibility here: Please keep the suggestions coming!

You firstly need to go to settings, application manager and then installed apps. Uninstall the app from there
You may have formatted the memory card, but it still remains on this list. This tricks ovi store into thinking you still have the app, hence stopping you from re downloading.
Hope this helps

I purcahsed several apps from the Ovi Store… Lately, I had a few problems since updating to the new phone software version.
So, I re-installed the phone firmware a few times until it was working right.
Now all my apps in the Ovi Store say that I have reached my download limit and that I need to re-purchase them all over again…
?????
I’m still using the same phone…. it’s still the same imei no…. What is wrong with Ovi Store???
