Now update as yet for the UK though.
Please don’t say we are going to have to wait for months again.

And what a dissapointment that was. Still locks up when I answer calls randomly if my phone is locked, kinetic scrolling isn’t everywhere, phone is still slow, and the phone still feels like its a last minute attempt. Silly me, I did a *#7370# and ended up having to find MfE, Accuweather and Facebook all over again. And I’m not even going to get into talking about what a nightmare that was. Nokia – do a google search for “beta testers” and hire some. And if you already have some, fire them. They’re utterly useless.

all of us , Nokia N97 user are Beta user ,nokia no need to find beta users , we many fools are there for them as well paying lot money to Nokia ,
Then N97 phone hangs when you expect an important call, many time unlock button not work ,from very first day the problems coming , help line said go to service center it means without doing homework Nokia selling there phone. Now V20 frimware not availbe to all N97, In the Case Apple Iphone is Far good whenever frimware comes it is avaibile to all .also self updating is not easy . hope in future we all fools keep these things in mind .

What a let down from Nokia.. N97 can be a good device if the software was able to works as intended. After 8 years of using Nokia phone I think its time to move on to someting bigger and better..iPhone

OK the caller screen freezing on my N97 with the very latest firmware V20 is now getting very annoying! It used to happen with V12 but not very often. Since the V20 upgrade it seems to be happening for often.
I don’t get it – I really don’t. Why after nearly 6 months of persevering with this phone and expectations so high for the V20 firmware upgrade, are we left with an inferior phone and poor user experience?
It can not be that difficult can it?
Like a stick of rock; break me in two and I have Nokia right through me. But I am seriously starting to dislike the taste of this stick of rock!
I wish I had opted for the iPhone when I had a chance. My work colleagues all have iPhones and I feel like I am being left behind with the Nokia N97 and the apps available in Ovi store.
Come on Nokia sort yourself out for God’s stake!

The N97 is a brilliant phone lauched by Nokia howver it has so many issue due the the network isues, the amount of application on it. If you have more then enuf memory on it and avoid downloading more applications then it should be as good as the other phones.

having trouble from first day i had this N 97, can`t take the call lock key not working auto guard on automatically and need to take the battery off and restart it again, missing all the important incoming call as it don`t take them at all.

I have been using the N97 for last 3 months and its been such a problem to always having to slide the keyguard switch to operate the device. My left hand thumb is now bruised. As if that is not enough, the keyguard “switch” has now fallen out and I can not stick it back. I just realised how shoddily it was fixed, just meant to fall out sooner than later.
How do I operate this device now without the slide switch?

I have just returned to the UK after a few weeks in the mountains. I reluctantly didn’t update the firmware on my N97 before I went as I didn’t want to risk it not working while I was away.
On returning to the UK I upgraded the firmware and to my disappointment found that it was not the much vaunted v20. Rather more frustratingly, the ‘phone is now even less effective at taking calls than it was with v11. This is a business ‘phone and a dropped call is business lost to any competitor who does not use an N97.
I have a solution – I bought a £12 nokia in India which I can use to make and receive ‘phone calls (and very little else…) This allows me to leave my information super highway-enabled pocket computer at home where it can wait safely for either the contract to expire or the final provision of a firmware version that actually allows me to take calls! The only saving grace is that it has better movies than Air India…
Disenfranchised of Sussex!

hey!!
this device is full of trouble.bt nokia knows the solution.
bt i think if they dont changes their foolish strategy, they will loose whole market one day.
n 97 is far behind than its competitor.both in hrdwre & softwre.
the same processor & ram is used in $800 n97 and in $250 5800 xpress why nokia why
i was true fan of nokia since last 8 yrs bt this device dissipointed me & lots of its lover………..why nokia why???????

I have been a Nokia fan and the N97 is my 27th Nokia device. After updating to version 2 firmware, my phones hangs each time i re-start in for any reason. it just freezes at the Nokia screen and nothing happens. I then have to take the battery out and and reset the device using the standard procedure (simultaneously pressing 3, *, Green Answer Key and the power button). I am deeply disappointed. After these many months, Nokia seems to be going backward whereas the competition is bringing out some fine phones. My only hope now lies with the Nokia N900 which uses Maimo Linux.
