Ovi Store leads in China

Published by Adam Fraser on January 20, 2011

CHINA – Following our news back in December that Ovi Store has reached 3.5 million downloads a day, comes the news that Ovi Store is topping the download charts in China, becoming the leading app store in providing mobile content, according to a recent study, beating 13 other download stores in the process.

A report called The 2010 China Mobile Application Report, undertaken by iResearch, shows 65.2 per cent of the Chinese population use Ovi Store as their preferred download channel, edging ahead of China Mobile’s Mobile Market with 57.7 per cent.

China had 277 million mobile internet users in June 2010, with increasing demands from users for content on their phones when on-the-move. As Nokia has a huge market in China, it’s no surprise they are the leader in this field, suggest iResearch. It’s a great result, and really validates the importance of Nokia’s support for so many languages in its devices and services.
