GLOBAL - App distribution company GetJar released some interesting research this week on how people are using apps and their preferences when it comes to how they personalise their mobile phones. They say that more than a third spend an hour or more every day using apps, and over half mobile users use mobile apps more than once a day. (We’ll brush over the stuff about competitor devices – it’s not really appropriate for us to comment).
BRITAIN – Earlier this month, Nokia created the HD Horizons project, aimed at encapsulating different parts of Britain from a helicopter using a Nokia N8 and its 12MP camera. With the help of one of the world’s most respected aerial photographers – Jason Hawkes – the images captured so far have been stunning. Take a look through the gallery to see for yourselves.

HELSINKI, Finland – Finland is known for several bizarre world championships: The World Sauna Championship, The World Mobile Phone Throwing Championship, The World Wife Carrying Championship, and The World Air Guitar Championship. So it’s only natural the world’s first “Angry Bird Championship” would take place in Finland, albeit only a national championship. Thirty-two finalists from eight Finnish cities gathered in downtown Helsinki this past Saturday for a single elimination tournament. The stakes? GLOBAL – Not satisfied with the normal way of charging a phone battery – by simply plugging a charger into the wall, and then the slot on the phone – Nokia came up with a new way. The hamster wheel, a human-sized one. The guys over at Irkafirka have drawn up Carita’s comment from the story, with quite a literal interpretation of the hamster wheel.
