GLOBAL – Harald Meyer is the main guy behind TeqUnique, famous for a long line of PhoneTorch utilities for every Symbian phone from the N95 onwards. In the last year he’s turned his attention to another hardware related function though – your phone’s camera, producing the well respected and polished CameraPro. GLOBAL – In big cities, traffic conditions determine how much time you get to spend with your loved ones against how much time you spend on the road. And having the latest information at your fingertips means that you can optimize your time to your liking.

Given how much time we spend on commuting from one place to another as part of our daily lives, Nokia Maps has rolled out some new Traffic features in Beta. Now with the latest beta of Nokia Maps Mobile client, we have Live Traffic routing. Available in UK, France, Germany and Russia; it makes the life of those of us who drive that much more easier. Now, you can turn on “Avoid traffic” in the “Route settings” to take traffic conditions into account while you drive.

But what if you are at home, and want to have a quick peek at the traffic conditions before you start your journey? And what about the times when you wait at home for a loved one driving through the city traffic? No need to worry, now, maps.nokia.com brings to you the latest Live Traffic information to keep you in the know – before you go.

The traffic information is refreshed every five minutes to provide you with the latest  traffic data. It also covers all the highways and main roads in the three countries – which means all the important road networks are covered.

– The severe food crisis in the Horn of Africa has dominated world headlines the past weeks. Some 12.4 million people are in need of humanitarian aid. Famine has been declared in regions of southern and central Somalia and the situation is anticipated to degenerate. Between April and the end of June, tens of thousands of people have died in southern Somalia. Almost half of them were children under five. At least one in five children is severely malnourished in the area. The main reason behind this unparalleled catastrophe is the worst drought the region has seen in 60 years. Escalating food prices and general instability have also played a part. (more…)

PORTLAND, OR, United States – In an online universe where the world is at our fingertips, our social circle is no exception. With the likes of Facebook, we love to see what our friends and family is doing at all times as well as update them on our goings on as well. This is why Facebook on mobile phones is such a beautiful thing.

However, without a good Facebook client tucked on your phone, accessing the service can be rough. fMobi is a new and notable Facebook client that warrants a deep dive. fMobi is written in Qt which means it runs incredibly fast and nimble on my Nokia N8 and it has a stunning user interface as well.
