New info on the software updates for Symbian 5.0 and 3.2 devices

GLOBAL – Last week we made some edits in the article published in June on the software updates for Symbian 5.0 and 3.2 devices. We have since then received questions about this topic from our readers, so we’d like to share some more information on the status of these updates. We’d like to confirm that the planned updates for Nokia X6, Nokia 5530 and Nokia 5800 are still to be released and we are currently working on getting the software ready to launch in some months.

The specs; the price; the facts

As all three models are among our older devices, not all operators globally will test and approve the software update for these phones. This is the reason why we decided to remove the devices from the global posting. Availability of the software update for these phones will be determined at a local level.

    Just installed on my phone, now faster than before. 5800 turbo!
    Quick navigating between menu’s and basic apps.

    What a hopeless update for 5530 & 5800….Just Browser & Swipe to unlock. Thats all….For more than 3 months we have been waiting & the result is just 2 major improvements……

    for the last 6 months we have been sending requests to nokia care via mail & requesting on the blogs regarding the features we want & what we get in return….waiting for more than 3 months compelled us to think that nokia might be rewriting the firmware or adding requested features……… but the fact is totally different…

    Apart from these 2 things what we were expecting was a major update with new features like homescreen widgets, Anna themes , pure fonts, folder playlist, smart dialer, add to fav in contacts list, qwerty keypad, SMS thread view, Homescreen rotation, Birthday reminders with age in calender, etc…

    Moral: cant expect anything good from nokia…

    Disappointed with the update released for 5800 (only 2 features -Browser & swipe to unlock)…..but for X6 16gb model i am requesting Nokia to release update with new features like Homescreen widgets, support for portrait qwerty swype keyboard, Folder playlist in music player (afterall its a music phone), smart dialler, Anna themes, Pure fonts, etc…..Hoping with all these features included in the update otherwise people go for CFW on their phones…just like they are going for 5800 & 5530 models…….

    yes i agree with Jack_bullock….Nokia should launch update for Nokia X6 with new features as this phone is not even more than 1.5 years old.
     
    I want widgetzied homescreen & SMS Thread view in the update. As a professional company Nokia must consider our request before launching the update.
     
    We are the die-hard fans of Nokia.

    Ahhhhh, whosahhh. The anticipation is unreal, 5800 update is taking so long. Why? I know its probably a matter of logistics and we are not going to see this update until after the holidays. Guess I’m just going to have to forget that an update exists.

    hi, sorry to resurrect a dead post … i noticed the E52 was on the new firmware list, but not the E55, why is this? are they not the same – barring the keyboard layout? i have 34.001 since april 2010 and still no update to resolve ongoing issues
