LONDON, United Kingdom – You might already be familiar with Nokia Maps on other platforms: it’s currently available for Symbian, MeeGo but also on the web and on your iOS or Android mobile browser.

Whilst Nokia Drive has been specifically designed for your effortless driving experience, Nokia Maps lets you see where you are and discover places nearby in an instant. In other words Nokia Maps is your perfect companion if you want to explore the world around you, no matter whether you are a local or not.

With Nokia Maps you can easily find a place because it supports intuitive auto-complete suggestions and search history.

However, if you are unsure of where to go next, Nokia Maps helps you decide which place to pick by including reviews and photos from over 50 guides & local content providers.

And that’s not all. With just a tap you can now see which other places are close to the one you’ve just selected. So, after a good meal at a restaurant you know where to go for a drink without going to the other side of town.

Getting to the place you have selected is very easy with Nokia Maps because you get smart directions for drive, walk and public transport. It puts you in charge of navigation. You decide where to go and how to get there.

These are only a few of the things that are keeping us busy bringing you the best location-based experience.

great looking phone. I currently own Omnia 7 and looking forward to getting the Lumia 800 especially for the maps. The maps though are very strange for my region, Cyprus. They have extremely nice and detailed Satelite view and absolutely no city or other map info. Not even the capital of Cyprus which will be the “capital of europe” in a way when we get the EU presidency in July, 2012. Seems like a bug in the maps and I wonder if they have any more of these blind regions. They usually have great quality products. ???

We are obviously trying to expand our maps coverage to many countries and I’m sorry that Cyprus is currently lacking streets and map info.
As soon as our coverage will be extended to Cyprus we will let you know.

Nokia maps has lost a lot of functionality compared to ovi Maps on an E72, for example. I bought the Lumina 800 yesterday (was about to get the samsung S2) but favoured Nokia for the ‘maps navigation without data’ feature.

For instance, on the Lumina 800, I am unable to place a marker on a map and navigate there, which is a basic function. My Nokia E72 could do this and I safely navigated round the backalleys of Bangkok once I had first downloaded the maps in my home country.

It’s useful to mark a GPS location of where you park your car when in a foreign city, safe in the knowledge your phone can help you find it. This feature is no longer on the Nokia Lumina 800, a shame.
