I hope that update will improve battery time as promised. Right now Nokia N9 beats L800 by all parameters. If battery will hold comparable time as on other smartphones, Nokia will have a chance to survive in future with WP, hopefully.

The best update of Lumia 800 is to bring Symbian on it with another (of course) name..
As it’s the same outside with the best (but killed the OS) phone on the market -N9- you must think to give us this phone with Symbian Belle OS.. Then we gonna see who OS sell more and who is the best for our favour company NOKIA.., and not to compare with the current Belle’s with fixed-focus (and no led flash to 603) cameras..

Congratulations Nokia on a great start with Lumia. Finally its getting launched in india this saturday @ my city Kolkata. Well its common to wait for Nokia products for months and months remeber nokia N8 but  i ama amazed its only abt 1 month and lumia launch and availability is amazing man…. NOKIA is giving up all little bad habbits love u Nokia.

okay now Kriss FYI Nokia is very much on 2 million mark for lumia sales these devices are selling like hot cakes just wait for Mr Elop to come out with a great Q4 result fingers crossed I am sure u can not keep a power house of talent that billions of people love out for long the dark clouds are gone and its all over Nokia again.

Nokia lumia is a clear winner u see it u fall in love with it its 100 % nokia , i am in love with it I love this phone and i see ppl  excited for it all over the web ppl are talkin positive no hate every one loves nokia lumia 800.

when u talk abt updates u can not catch all errors at one go somethings are ignored in controlled test environments which come out in real life cases and look how prpmptly Nokia came up with the updates. Its not bad issues can happen technology is no miracle but its about commitment integrity honesty to accept and the intent and sincerity to provide a remedy that makes a brand stand out and thats why we in india trust Nokai… Nokia never lies

Nokia has not given up symbian rather look at the innovation they did with it look at the NFC thing. However as the launched devices are all mid to low range so there are many compromises like the ones with camera as u pointed out. but belle is awesome

Nokia’s older symbian 3 devices like N8 E7 are being tested as they have different RAM and CPU spec compared to newer belle devices
Also isn’t it a good thing that NOKIA is doing software testing and required changes to give us a finished product that gives us great pleasure. plz understand that Nokia has many models and so newer updates need many tweaks so that they work with older devices.
And when we waited so long lets do it for a few more weeks and days as NOKIA has already said belle will come to older symbian 3 devices in 2011 first half i am assuming Q1 (the source of info is my nokia blog.)

U know guys apart from the unique Nokia hardware thats Nokia tradition nothin new in a way a killer Nokia servicce is Nokia Music App its really killer it leaves behind all other ecosystems.

The first option my music is nothing but a p3 player that lists ur music on the device and competes with zune so does the mp3 store.

But so wat Nokia had a music service for long tym and i think now the company has got it right it was awesome now its killer by far its the best even better than itunes and really better than pandora and spotify no ads no fees and completely free… awesome.

Nokia has contributede killer hardware in terms of design, build, display, radio technology, antennae performance, battery, and ofcourse legendary camera thats way too good for a 8MP shooter given the form factor its no Nokia N8 and it was not designed to be one it does not have place for the largest sensor on a mobile phone but its descent lives up to Nokia’s reputation as world’s largest camera maker.

But wats least talk about is wat is a killer from Nokia that the current leadership has done so gr8 and that wat they did too their service offerings. Since the legendary Nokia N95, the company had provided awesome navigation solution and they continue to do so  OMG look at the awesome Nokia Drive u know it also speaks Hindi now awesome and more local languages will be a boon thats the way to differentiate with services. Nokia providing u navigation thats the best on planet free of charge . I am already in love with the app.

second is the most important app Nokia music , i think Nokia apart from the emphasis on design , camera optics and windows phone UI in their marketing sud also promote this app heavily…… I dont care ESPN but music is of universal appeal and this app from NOKIA has realy solved all music problems as Kevin Shields said its true u use it once u feel in love its a 1 stop solution.

u open the app… u want to paly music on device do it u have mp3 player, u want radio playlist created on ur choice there is Mix radio.

The gig finder is the brings the X factor the way its integrated to maps. awesome. Its a great service and Nokia must promote it people sud get to know the unique service NOKIA has added and believe me its REVOLUTIONARY ….. Nokia wanted to be a services company may be the game begins now same assets, different management awesome start way to go Mr. Elop but you have given new ray of Hope and Light

Note: Although in India this Mix radio service is yet to be offered on lumia and its said to come in early 2011.

Just out of interest. What’s the new version number? I’m on 7.10 (7740) at the moment in the UK eagerly awaiting the new version to appear as available.

I am returning my lumia 800 to Vodafone. It will not sync with my PC unless I used a cloud based contacts list/ calendar. When I travel I don’t always have access to the net which will make synching impossible . In any event my contacts/ calendar are held in  Office Outlook which I keep on both my desk top and lap top and I do not wish to use an alternative.
Back to square one

Your synced Windows Live account will sync to Outlook if you let it. You just need to use the Connector add-on from Windows Live.

Correct me if I am wrong but windows live is a cloud based solution. Farely useless if I am in the middle of nowhere without an internet connection. If it is not a cloud based solution then nobody at Vodafone or Nokia ( after exhaustive questioning) told me that this may offer an answer. Too late anyway the phone has gone back.
Further to the above if a product is not immediately and intuitively useful then it is useless

Mine came through 2 days ago. Definite improvement on battery life. Could still be better (expecting that from Jan update) but it’s at least acceptable for normal business use.

Thats obvious! But I can only sync if I have an internet connection. Not good if it is important to maintain identical data on my phone and lap top/desk top. Which is is–to me

Nice to see Nokia being proactive in finding and fixing issues and pushing updates so soon after launch.

I haven’t yet had the update pushed to my phone though, purchased in Singapore without a contract.

I am still not getting this update and directly affected by issues fixed so would really want to get it? i have an unlocked phone bought from France but run it on an operator in Romania.
should i understand from these lines “will be rolled out in the countries where the phone has been made available” that i will NOT get the update at all

Could someone please explain the thinking behind the lights on the soft keys not working when the brightness is NOT set to automatic after the update? I  – like many others – want the brightest screen possible, but that means that the buttons are not illuminated at night!

Apart from that, the update went smoothly and fixed my battery info, though I didn’t really have a big problem with battery life before the update either…
