GLOBAL – Yes, we know we can’t stop bragging about all the cool new features that maps.nokia.com and HTML5 Maps are bringing, but we have yet to introduce you guys to another version of Nokia Maps – Nokia Maps for Mobile Phones (Series 40).

So you don’t have a Lumia, or a smartphone for that matter; however, you find importance of knowing where you are and knowing where to go – did you know that we also offer Nokia Maps on Mobile Phones (Series 40) for a rapidly growing market for millions of customers? We offer a variety of Series 40-based Nokia mobiles, with our newest model being the Nokia Asha 303, all equipped with Nokia Maps.

Although Nokia Maps for Mobile Phones works globally, it takes great care to provide detailed mapping and location assistance locally. There are millions of people out there traveling everyday – whether it is within the city, within the country, or internationally. Many of them need help finding their destination, or would like to just explore their surroundings. Our Nokia Maps for Series 40 allow users to find their way with confidence and share their destinations with their friends around them through SMS.

Unlike GPS usage with smartphone devices, Nokia Maps for Mobile Phones uses enhanced cell-tower ID with network-based positioning, allowing a lower-cost alternative. You can also pre-download maps onto your phone so that you can use offline maps to help with route planning through walk, and exploring an unknown city while saving data costs. However, if you would like to go online, we have given the lowest cost option for you which, on average, is price equivalent to sending a regular SMS in India.

Comparable to other Nokia Maps applications such as Smart Devices, we offer free global maps for over 180 countries, and millions of different places within our database; allowing us to share with you some wonderful locations, and allowing you to find the places you’re looking for. So whether it is the tea house you’re meeting a friend at in Beijing, the spice markets in Bangalore, or the ability to just explore a new neighbourhood within your city, we can help you get around. Our Nokia Maps for Mobile Phones also provide free visual routing in more than 100 countries so you can see the route you’re about to take; however, it works differently than navigation offered in Smart Devices.

With our Nokia Maps on Mobile Phones (Series 40), we want to introduce the experience of mapping to the next billion. For many, this will be their first contact with a mobile mapping service, thus allowing us to set the precedent of what mapping should be like. We believe this is a great opportunity for us to showcase what mapping can bring, and the possibilities of what great mapping can do. We want to help users Discover, Share, and Get There.
