New Nokia Lumia 610 and Nokia Lumia 900 for all

Published by Trevor Davies on February 27, 2012

BARCELONA, Spain – Nokia today expands its Lumia family across the world with the fun Nokia Lumia 610 and high-end Nokia Lumia 900 for global roll-out.

The funky Nokia Lumia 610, with a 3.7-inch screen, is aimed at teenagers on a budget who want a smartphone with social networking, music, Web browsing, gaming and apps. It’s the most affordable Lumia so far.

The award-winning Nokia Lumia 900 has been extended to Canada and tweaked to allow Nokia’s biggest and fastest Lumia smartphone to deliver rich Web video and speedy browsing via ultra-fast Dual Carrier-HSPA networks outside America.

These phones, along with the Nokia Lumia 800 and Nokia Lumia 710, make Nokia’s Windows Phone based-offering a comprehensive portfolio, with handsets to suit the widest range of people’s needs and budgets.

The secret of the Nokia Lumia 610 is that it uses slightly less processing power and memory than the other Lumias but will still give teenagers exactly the kind of Internet experiences they are looking for.

This arrives via the bright Live Tiles on the Windows Phone homescreen, with the unique People Hub which puts all your friends, family and people you care about most in one place.

It also lets you read Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn feeds. The Lumia 610 is perfect for sending individual or group shout-outs via text, email or IM conversations.

And the smooth Internet browsing via Internet Explorer 9 and Bing search gets you exactly where you want to be on the Web.

Coming in four colours, white, cyan, magenta and black, the Nokia Lumia 610‘s metallic looks offer individual style choices which appeal above all to the youth market.

Additionally, tens of thousands of applications at the Windows Phone Marketplace – with a try-before-you-buy choice of the world’s best mobile games – makes this phone the perfect introduction to Lumia and Windows Phone at €189.

And then there’s Nokia’s signature experiences.

When it comes to music, there’s something to suit all tastes thanks to Nokia Music (38 countries) with MixRadio (15 countries) and its 100 channels with selected locally-relevant tracks from a 14-million song catalogue.

And Nokia has announced Nokia Reading providing a single, integrated reading hub experience. Nokia Reading makes it easier and faster to enjoy news, books, and audio books including an extensive catalogue of local language reading material and the ability to access content offline.

Access to Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive, with turn-by-turn navigation, and Nokia Public Transport add even more  value to the Nokia Lumia 610 package.

I’m selling my N9 and putting the money towards a beautiful, better Lumia 900 or 610 and then buying the Nokia Windows 8 tablet and fantastic Windows 8 41mp Nokia phone.  You’ll be lying there on the ground pounding pavement in a temper tantrum.  Your father will look at you as people walk by and say” it’s time to grow up son, you’ve been bettered. ” As you get up, he’ll smack you along the side of the head and tell you “people are looking”.

There is no Adobe Flash support with Windows Phone, Nokia or not.  Almost all sites have an HTML5 version, or even an app (i.e. Youtube, Vemo, MSNVideo, etc.)  To also say that the Lumia is not designed for video neither audio is simply FUD and inaccurate.  It does support MP4 and AVI containers.  It does support H.264 video, and plenty of audio codecs.  Please do your research before posting an incorrect comment.

I’m liking this Nokia 900, just looks awesome and the features and hardware are nothing to be ashamed of. BUT I am trying to save and wait for the NOKIA Windows 8 APOLLO Phone thats going to stand head and shoulders above the awesome 900 and kick the competition to the side and command respect across the tech watch and must have latest and greatest tech people. NOKIA’S Windows 8 APOLLO, But if I get the Nokia 900 when it launches here in Canada, I wonte be to hurt, its a great Smartphone that can stand with anything, but most importantly it’ll stand/sync with all my other Microsoft Windows products. Thanks MS, way to go!

It’s to bad Nokia Phones are not on Verizon the largest US carrier and Sprint third largest.  I’ll bye a Nokia Phone as soon as they can bring their high end Windows phones to Verizon. Until then I’m suck with my iPhone.

I just hope I don’t have to wait for years to see a HIGH END Windows Nokia phone on Verizon.

Way to go, Nokia! Everytime one of my friends saw me use a Nokia, they were always impressed. First, it was my N900, then the E7. Now, they drool over my N9. Yes, I am very proud. Great product line with great history behind it.
