All about Nokia Belle, Feature Pack 1

BARCELONA, Spain – The brand new Nokia 808 PureView comes with the latest iteration of the Symbian operating system. This is a good thing because Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 offers improved entertainment options, personalisation choices and performance.

It’s arrived on the Nokia 808 PureView, and will also be made available for new production and current users of Nokia 603, 700 and 701 smartphones in coming months. For other latest Symbian devices, we have just made Nokia Belle available, and now already more than 1 million downloads have taken place!

So, if you own one of the smartphones in question, or are planning to get either Nokia 603, 700, 701 or the new Nokia 808 PureView having looked at the delicious images that have already appeared, what are the specifics?

First of all, the entertainment experience is boosted. Dolby ® Headphone and Dolby ® Digital Plus transform the playback of music and movies and games into a personal surround sound experience like no other. With Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1, you can access a world of premium entertainment.

If you thought Nokia Belle already brought bunch of great widgets, Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 will increase your personalization options even further. You get even more personalization with ~20 new and improved widgets – having even more content easily accessible on your homescreens.

In addition, there’s a new, faster browser with HTML 5 support, the latest version of Nokia Maps, and the recently announced Microsoft Apps available via over the air update. There’s an even better notifications bar and a refreshed multitasking bar, too.

Also good news for Nokia 700 and 701, your handset will be faster and more responsive. It’s not so often that software update delivers an increase in processor speed, but with Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 the processor speed of your handset will go from 1GHz to 1.3GHz.

        You’ll abandon this marvelous OS for what? Even if this sells much better than the other products..?
        You already kill the name Symbian (who is ok for me) but what OS’s have then? MS and Series40?

        Except if you prepare a new OS, something between Maemo(MeeGo) [swipe] AND Symbian [widgets]..

      With all Respect Alecandru, Nokia N8 for me is one of the best ever mobile i have had in my whole life and im sure its the same for alot of Nokia N8 Users…

      I don’t need the update, or whatever coming. Why will i when i got everything in my pocket. Nokia N8 is like a buddy more than a cellphone.

      So don’t blame the other N8 users as they don’t want to say goodbye to their excellent N8, atleast not this soon as i haven’t from my self got enough of it as it still got alot to give and it will remain my favourite mobile forever……….

    Well good for all Nokian’s… I’m using 500 as of now and was updated to Belle last February 18, but sad to say the unit are not capable of joining with the new improvements. Will this be available to Software Update via Nokia Suite. Wow! Good to buy 700 as my new ones… if the CPU with 1 Ghz processor  will increase to 1.3… so exciting for the coming features.. Hope there would be more  and fascinating development from NOKIA…

    Just give use S^3+1 users the widgets and I know I’ll be fine with that. I know the N8 getting a boost will hurt the life of the phone and battery. I do plan to get a white 808.

      Im Nokia user since 2005, I had 7610 for almost 6yrs.And analyzed and waited for Nokia N8 for almost 6months for its camera and Symbian’s new S^3.Its beeing 1yr and 4months Nokia announcing that there won’t be any update for 1st Gen S^3 devices.

        That’s bullshit, especially if you look at the QML interface! That’d run perfectly smooth with the first gen S^3 devices. Anything truly relying on the new Hardware can be left out or worked around. But bringing only the very few non core related improvements downstream is UNACCEPTABLE ;-)

    At least tell us if that means you are dropping support for S^3 devices…no information is worse than justified  bad information… I want to at least know what I should expect on my device in the next few months. Not that I am going to drop using my beloved E7, but still don’t leave us completely in the dark…

      We are absolutely not dropping support for older Symbian devices. We will support Symbian through 2016. We are also investigating needs for further updates for the other S^3 devices, but Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1 as such will be released for Nokia 603, 700 and 701 only.

    sooo no nokia n8 update omg i knew it ..cause the current updates sucks my phone is so laggy and crushing every 10 min …u think im kiddin let me give u my N8 and see how long will u survive on it …u had to shut down long time ago even 1000mega pixel wont save ya from suckin so much … have a nice short life nokia

    Who had the glorious idea to change the naming scheme AGAIN? I mean, you only did two versions before changing it again? Why? Why not just call it Carla? Belle was launched ~6 months ago, why not calling it Carla?

    Why is there no information about “FP1″ for generation 1 devices? I don’t see a single feature which would need additional resources. Why would I need more resources for a faster browser than for a slower? How could rearranging the multitasking view need more resources?

    All Symbian ^3 devices are going to get new widgets and microsoft apps probably new nokia browser 8.2 will come to all belle devices.
    The main problem with C6-01,C7, E6,E7,N8,X7 is the amount of ROM which is only 512 MB while in the 503,700,701 it is 1 GB.

    For Belle FP1 you can allways put custom rom with all those goodies from FP1.

        There will be updates like  there are still updates to symbian ^1 (S60 v.5) in nokia browser widgets and so on. I already told you there would be updates and which ones and if you want all of them you could allways put custom ROM with all of them only then you lose your warranty to your device.

       1) The processors should be overclocked from 680 Mhz to 800Mhz       as it can be done in this type of processor.   2) Dolby Digital Sound Experience
       3) More Widgets
       4) HTML 5 Browser (ie version 8.2 as in Nokia 808)
       5) New Multitasking and Notification Bar
       6) New version of Maps and Microsoft Apps
        
       Many of these does not want much RAM and 256MB of RAM is enough to have many of the above things mentioned.
       So Nokia please provide Symbian Belle Feature Pack 1 also to 1st generation symbian^3 devices with Nokia 701,700,603.

           So basically you are saying that 256 MB RAM is the problem because there isn’t any other problem, CPU is the practically the same and GPU is a little diferent but  new design of camera ui and widgets doesn’t need 512 MB RAM and newer GPU to work properly.

So basically you could translate by google trnaslate or any other tool his post because it was of great value.     the new 20 widgets are not a big deal !!  it doesn’t worth to be as a flash-needed update, any stupid android app has a powerful widget !!
    the Dolby sound is not important,even no-body asks nokia to support this feature.
    the important update is overclocking the CPU to 1.3 GHz,why this update is not applicable on 603 ?
    a better GPU drivers is needed to fully utilize the processing power of the new generation phones (701/700/603)

    Hello! I have a question, nokia nokia 700 and 603have the same CPU, why processing power will increase only in nokia 700 and 701 ? 603 
    also needs to be faster  !!! 
    And also, I have a problem with scrolling menu,reading the forums, I realized that this problem allthe owners of 603, the menu scrolls choppy … I can run all applications on the 603 at a time, and it willwork fine, that is, enough processing power for all applications, except for the menu?? very strange ….I hope you consider my comments and make a qualitative update….

      try switching on the mobile data and the Wi-fi together then open the Google Map apps and then you can safely switch off the Wi-fi. Google Map will work.

It’s awsome yhe new UI looks great ( not that it was bad, but still ). the overclock of CPU makes a difference in preformance, anf the new widgits makes it easy to work with the phone. Just Three word Great Job Nokia !!! I bought the phone just before nokia told that they’ll stop the support so I was kind of disappointed but with that kind of support – not so worry anymore !!!

    I was very happy with N8-00 Belle – until the outgoing emails ( imap4 ) just simply staid in outbox 4ever. Have read tons about that and it seems to boil down to memory (degrading ) issue which can only be fixed by factory reset & reinstall all your apps. But even then it all works again only for a while.
    This is the single most irritating issue which easily will cause a switch to another brand if not quickly fixed.
    Doesn’t matter if it is called FP1 or “uups”.

    N8 is waiting for this update. Would it fix .flv, .mkv,  and other HD videos playback issues ? To mention here, these bugs came with Belle update.
    Now FP1 should fix these bugs in N8.

    Ok, that can’t be the last update first you have to change the unlock screen to lock like meego, then you’ve got to change the keyboard put something like wp7, then make it easier to make playlists in the music player, make 4 row all apps menu, change the settings to look more like meego, and last but not least use your maps of serbia  you have detailed maps but you dont use them, at least no one with belle can use them

    First off, I don’t think the N8, with its 680MHz processor and 256Mb RAM, will be able to fully support all the features of a newer update.
    An over-clock of the processor may just make things worse (heating, lower battery back-up etc).
    So it’s pointless asking for an update that will make it run on-par with the likes of 701, 700, (later 808) etc.
    It (N8, C7, C6-01, E7 etc) may get an update which will give it the maximum it can handle.
    If anyone wants to fully experience Belle, they’ll have to get phones that can handle it (701, 700, 808 ).

    and after every update i have problem..
    the signal it’s goon..
    it’s telling me ( no Sim card ) .
    i send it to fix ..
    but they change the motherboard.. 2 time
    and still  same problem ..

      Go to nokia service centre and get the software update through nokia centre. Restoring to factory outlet setting will not sort the problem and after update of mobile through nokia store never use the data stored in memory card or restore the data from computer or laptops as it may contain virus.

    My nokia 701 restarts unexpectedly after the update and also it freezes every now and then and the screen saver doesn’t work at all and hence affecting my battery life. why is this so and is there any fix for this coz i dont feel that my phone has become faster after the update as mentioned above that the processor is bumped to 1.3 ghz.

      nokia 603,700,701 all sucks because i have N8 and E7 all overclocked to 1.3 Ghz from just 680 Mhz and my E7 has a hge 4.0 inch amoled touch screen with 8 Mp carl zies lens.And do you think these latest smartphones could beat my N8 and E7 Ha Ha Ha Never!!! So all Nokia E7 and N8 and C7 Owners Cheer up You did rather laugh out at the new  plastic designed smartphones than regreting your phone’s update.. Am i Right???
