Published by Adam Fraser on March 19, 2012

GLOBAL – If you’re looking to download an app or a game on your Symbian smartphone or Series 40 phone, the Nokia Store is the place to go. Nokia Beta Labs has released a couple of updates for the Store recently, downloadable right now.

Nokia Store for Series 40For those with a Series 40 touch-and-type phone, the Nokia Store client for Series 40 provides a preview of the new version. Updates include application updates, the ability view your search history and publisher information.

This beta version of Nokia Store is expected to eventually become the default for Series 40 touch-and-type phones, and the team would like your help in testing this before they deploy it to the general public.

If you’ve got a Nokia Asha 300, Nokia Asha 303, Nokia C2-02, Nokia C2-03, Nokia C2-06, Nokia C3-01, Nokia C3-01 Gold Edition and Nokia X3-02, download Nokia Store client for Series 40 today and let them know what you think.

Nokia Store for SymbianThe next update to Nokia Store is for all devices running Symbian^3, Symbian Anna or Nokia Belle – called Nokia Store QML client.

Improvements have been made to to the application updates, especially when multiple items are available to update. You’ll also see an improvement in responsiveness to the Store in general when downloading large files.

There are some other bug fixes that we haven’t got any details of, but in general this Nokia Store QML client update will make the whole thing work a little better.

These updates aim to close the divide between low-end and high-end phones to bring a unified experience.

Have you given these beta releases a try? Let us know what you think of them.

it’s amazing how crappy Ovi Store web UI is in this day of iTunes app store. Tiny screenshots, redundant “data charges may be incurred” messages, hard to access reviews, regional (un)availablity…

it’s a horrible place to discover apps. it’s like a store going out of business. It has the same problem Conversations has: clueless to the real needs of users and putting irrelevant information first.
