Sadly ESPN still not available in Spain and Portugal and not to mention no reply from yourselves as to why?? The funny thing is that ESPN is available in Spanish too.

“With Nokia Lumia smartphones now available in 48 markets, developers are rapidly recognizing the business opportunities and “creating” their best work for our consumers.” replace “creating” with “Porting” please as most of apps/games already available on other platforms.

    • http://conversations.nokia.com Ian Delaney

That’s not what IDC are saying. And it’s not at all true. There are a ton of apps that have been specially written to take advantage of panoramas, pivots and live tiles.

Don’t like the treatment the N9 is getting. Why don’t they bring these apps to it. That Windows Phone do or die strategy is not good. Come on Nokia, show some love for one of the most loved and cherished devices of all time.

I have the Lumia 800 and I understand what you mean. My phone is almost an exact copy of yours and it is truly a beautiful device.

With respect to the apps, its unfortunate to hear, but maybe you can jump to WP with the Lumia 800?? (The 900 is not as nice – no curved glass).

      • Anonymous

But in this case he would get Windows Phone on his device. Hence it is very limited in the functionallity it would be a big step backward for Bradley.

You bought bad dude. You knew the N9 was DOA and still went ahead and bought it. Its nothing more than a novelty item now. My suggestion would be to put it in the drawer and jump into Windows Phone. You are missing out…

Not until Windows Phone works as decent as the DOA Nokia N9. Currently I’m unable to see a single device on the market which is able to beat the N9.

WP has no marketshare and is UGLY, will not sell well, so it is possible that NOKIA will reconsider their decision or die. As a N9 user I would not buy a WP device even if it has double the apps of iOS, if I would need apps, then I would have bought an iPhone!

Facts are more convincing than insults!

And since Windows Phone is unable to deliver facts compared to the N9 superphone I would say Alin won this small fight. ;-)

WP has a proper eco-system and a modern and unique UI that isnt a copy of anything else out there.

With an eco-system joining all MS services such as Office, Xbox, Skydrive, Windows and so on it has pure power! With the addition of Nokia adding Mapping and other services it will have even broader appeal.

The OS itself has such pure development that it is a smooth user experience no matter what app your in or what task you are carrying out. This is something that wows many people when comparing WP to a device with a quad core cpu for example.

The N9 is great, beautiful in fact yet due to the lack of support it is not going to compare to WP with Nokia behind it all the way. Also the Meego OS as brilliant as it is hasnt been designed to near perfecting (regarding smooth experiences throughout the OS) compared to WP. I mention this as the N9 is running on old hardware like WP’s yet the hardware and the software hasnt “married” as well as WP has with its hardware.

Perhaps you should test and use booth systems before you praise Windows Phone.

Windows Phone is a great marketing platform for Microsoft services but a awful hell if you life outside of this ecosystem and try to use the device in the real world.

          • http://twitter.com/JayJayTG Jay Gilliham

Ok explain how it is awful compared to the rest without an ecosystem?

Whether iPhone or Android you have to be apart of an ecosystem to get the best out of them right?

          • Anonymous

There is a reason why I don’tuse a iPhone or Android device. And at Windows Phone the situation is evenworse because thereis oftenno choice, no way to replace a service like skydrive with at exampledropbox and Microsofthas removed a lot of normal Smartphone services to forcethe user to use their cloud services.

Or why are Bluetoothfiletransfer, USBmasstoragemode and TV Out not working at Windows Phone?

To make it worse, eventhe built in microsoftservices are very limited, at example, I’m only able to stream a at skydrive stored mp3 file to my device. Store the file again is not possible.

Simply not competitive if you usedreal Smartphones before.

I am just wondering if such inputs or effort was put into Symbian and Meego. Why are you not doing the same for the other OS. If the products sell, who gets the profit. Guess who – Nokia. Stop carrying your eggs in one basket. when it breaks, it will be disastrous. Not every body likes the same thing. Variety is the spice of life. Think ahead. My last phone from nokia is the 808. Once symbian is gone, will smoothly switch to andriod. I left windows OS for Symbian and i am not going back. even if it is free.

After a Month using Android I bet you money you will have a different view. Mark my words. My windows phone never crashes and was the best decision i ever made. I used Android for 2 years and I will never EVER buy another one. I’ll go without a phone before I do. The POS crashed at the very least once a week. And that was me using 2 different phones. HTC and Samsung. Android is garbage. Straight up.

    nice!

It’s great to have OEMs (besides Apple) build an ecosystem and think long term for a change!

  • http://www.favbrowser.com FavBrowser.com

So you want HTC to get Draw Something exclusive, Words with Friends by Samsung and start war here or would you rather compete against Apple and Android?

You are hurting WP as a platform, that is all. 3-6 month exclusives? BS, should be no more than 1 month.

Stop cannibalizing other OEMs, it will cause confusion and do more harm than good in the long term.

    • http://www.facebook.com/mark.moreira Mark Moreira

Look up “spell it” in the Marketplace, its a free (ad-supported) game like WWF. The company that made it also made King of the Seas (Battleship), I really like both of them!

On the exclusive part, I think its because Nokia is the only one to actually go balls deep with WP. HTC and Samsung are best known for their Android devices. Also, considering the fact that Nokia is doing a lot of the dirty work with/for WP, they deserve temporary exclusivity.

      • http://www.favbrowser.com FavBrowser.com

So as a HTC WP user, why would I want to go with Windows Phone next time when iOS and Android users enjoy same apps across all devices?

Furthermore, why wait 6 months for exclusives when I can buy the iPhone now and get same apps? Do they want all but current Nokia wp users to migrate to Android and Apple devices?

What if I go with Lumia next round and then HTC does same thing with other apps? This is unacceptable, users want seamless experience, all it does is create fragmentation.

They should bring exclusives for WP as a platform, not for one phone only. That’s like offering Modern Warfare 3 for all but 4 GB Xbox users. Absurd.

Android users dont enjoy the same apps across all devices….I cant tell you how many times I go to download something on my epic 4G and I get an i’m sorry this isnt available for device

With android you may never get some apps on your phone even if it is available for other phones from the same manufacturer, at least with this nokia deal you know it will eventually come to your phone, or you can go to iOS and get all the apps that u want and be a part of the cool crowd

Great news Ian, but I was hoping you could provide some clarification on these two items…?

    1) It appears only some of the apps are exclusive to Nokia – Rovio and EA bringing apps over will benefit all WindowsPhone users, right?

    2) We will see these apps – including Angry Birds and EA’s offerings – on WP7…?  I’m just concerned as there has been much speculation about the upcoming release of WP8, and whether existing Lumia (and other manufacturers’) devices will be upgradable to WP8.

On the last note – I *really* hope we will be able to upgrade. Especially with BB7 users feeling abandoned by RIM with their devices not being upgradable to BB10… and Microsoft already making a tough jump between WM6.5 and WP7… it would look bad if these new Lumias couldn’t run WP8. Even the iPhone3GS – released in 2009 – can run the latest version of iOS.

Hopefully we’ll get some definitive statement on this soon.

    Thanks.

‘guess we’ll have to wait for an answer about the upgradability of the current devices to WP8, eh? Ah well… still, at least for now, we’ll at least have the knowledge that more great apps are coming for WP7. :)

These new exclusive apps will run on all current and future Lumia devices. All current apps and games will run on Windows Phone 8. What we don’t know is if current devices can run all new WP8 apps. My expectation is that developers will have a choice: new features or backward compatibility.

@Favbrowser….Please stop! HTC and Samsung have both been in the WP system since 2010, and they’ve done zilch of this caliber for the consumers who purchased their WP devices.

Nokia has been on the WP ship for 7 months, and have added more value for Nokia Lumia customers in this short period of time than both HTC and Samsung WP customers combined. And that is just with Nokia apps alone! These exclusive titles are just icing on the cake :)

Turn your bitterness, envy, jealousy, and dissatisfaction towards the oem of your WP device – i.e. HTC, Samsung, LG, Dell – where they share in the blame for your dissatisfaction.

Even if you chose to stay salty about Nokia taking care of Nokia Lumia customers, it’s not going stop Nokia from adding value for consumers who chose Nokia Lumia devices, and it certainly isn’t going to wipe the huge grin from Nokia Lumia users faces : )
