What do YOU do with your phone? [poll results]

This time last week, we asked you to take part in a poll where we asked you what do YOU do with your phone? We had an overwhelming response and it’s now time to look at the results.

There were two parts to the survey; one where you needed to tick as many boxes as necessary to let us know what you used in the last month, and the other part would let us know how often you perform those tasks.

Part one

When looking at the data from the results, there’s really not much in it between all of the options. When it comes to using your phones, you really know how to make the most of your Nokia Lumia.

The top ten activities that you – our Nokia Lumia user readers – did with your phone in the last month is as follows:

  1. Browsing websites
  2. Downloading apps from the Marketplace
  3. WiFi to connect to the Internet
  4. Access email
  5. Use camera for still pictures
  6. Use social networks
  7. GPS
  8. Music/MP3 player
  9. Organiser/calendar
  10. 3G to connect to the Internet

If we compare the results from the Niesen survey, there are some minor differences. But that doesn’t surprise us in the least. The results from that survey came from new Nokia Lumia users immediately after purchasing their phone. You, however, have more than likely been using your Lumias for longer and have gone past that experiment phase. It’s now time for full-on every day usage for you. You like to use a little bit of everything your Lumia has to offer.

Part two

This is where we look at how often you use those features. Let’s stick to the top ten listed above to see how much usage they get.

  1. Browsing websites (77.73% everyday)
  2. Downloading apps from the Marketplace (40.08% several times a week)
  3. WiFi to connect to the Internet (79.68% every day)
  4. Access email (85.88% every day)
  5. Use camera for still pictures (46.64% several times a week)
  6. Use social networks (62.46% every day)
  7. GPS (30.6% several times a week)
  8. Music/MP3 player (44.02% every day)
  9. Organiser/calendar (44.86% every day)
  10. 3G to connect to the Internet (63.19% every day)

Other interesting results show that 20 per cent of the people who participated use 4G LTE to connect to the Internet every day, almost a quarter of people transfer files to their Nokia Lumia about once a week, and almost 30 per cent of people play the pre-loaded games less than once a month.

Use camera for still pictures (46.64% several times a week)”….. I think this activity will be like “75% everyday” once PV^2 team’s efforts arrive to Nokia windows phones next year.

Since when is ‘WiFi to connect to the Internet’ and ’3G to connect to the Internet’ an “activity”?

I listen to music and Monocle 24 (one of the best apps on my Lumia) every hour of every day at work. Maybe that’s why I find my battery life sub-par (a concern not shared with other Lumia owners I discovered).

I personally do browse the web every day for several hours a day.
For that I hope Microsoft will bring a homepage wiew for IE.

Second I listen to music with Nokia music, every day, now even in my car with aux connection, I hope I will find a blootooth adapter witch can be adapted via 3,5mm plugin (I dont know  if that kind of devices even exist, if not, ill just do it myself..)

3:rd I text via facebook and sms, I dont know how to make them better, perhaps the facebook app could have a function to search for people other than your friends but thats about it. (Everyday function)

4:th  Calling, well Nokia is the best when it comes to making calls. My Lumia 900 is loud and clear and I have never missed a call with it. (Everyday)

5:th Playinmg games with XBox live such as wordament or Bug village. (Everyday)

6:th E-mails, a good function but Gmail should have more than 4 recent mails. Its kinda annoying not to be able to scroll down to see some older mail. (5-7 days a week)

7:th Marketplace, sometimes when I got time, I really enjoy trying out new apps with my Lumia, it might take few hours just scrolling and searching for something that might be usefull :D.

Those are propably the most used. I did not mention the Wi-Fi or 3g connections because I believe that those are basic functions for a smartphone and I at least am 24/7 conncected.
