The Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820

The new Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 are not just innovative smartphones packed with great features, but they look fantastic too.

Nokia’s unrivalled flair for design combined with using unique materials in the coolest colours has once again produced a couple of knockout devices.

The Lumia 920 is available in yellow, red, grey, white and black. For the Lumia 820 there is a choice of red, yellow, grey, cyan, purple, white and black.

We got our hands on a yellow Lumia 920 and a red Lumia 820 together with some of their accessory friends.

Here are some pictures for you to enjoy and – for maximum detail – you can click through to see a high-resolution version of each image.

The Lumia 820, despite appearances to the contrary, has a variety of changeable shells – which fully replace the rear of the device, rather than fitting over it. Here is a selection of the other colours.

How do you make your NEW phone bigger, heavier, and thicker when your competition is doing the oppposite.

    • Kadusch

The needed the extra space for the 3 Windows Phone Buttons on the front of the device. :-/

    • donzebe

The weight is needed for the camera.
For 920 to be a great camera phone, it needs to have weight for better picture and video when on the run.  The lens is not the only factor when it comes to taking great pictures and Videos.
We all want long lasting battery, this add weight too. 2000 mAh
      should be heavy.

  • Jeremy Filburn

No MicroSD slot in the 920??? Really? The 820 has one!!!

    • http://twitter.com/nok4us Izzi

the Lumia 920 does have 32GB skydrive, I think the 820 has only 7GB, that should more than make up for needing an expandable microSD slot. Whats important is that there should be storage mode on WP8, if not?..

      • http://www.allthatgamingstuff.com/ JasonGW

No, the 920 has 32GB of built in storage, and if you’re just signing up with a Microsoft account, you’ll get 7GB of SkyDrive. Those of us who’ve been using SkyDrive for years still have a free 25GB account. You can always add an extra 20GB for $10 per year.

    • Hồng Sơn Nguyễn

but lumia 920 has 32 gb and 820 only with 8gb

      • http://www.allthatgamingstuff.com/ JasonGW

820 has 8GB built in, but also has a MicroSD card slot that allows you to add an additional 32GB :)

  • Zaki Jaaskelainen

Look at the minuscule lens on the 920… How many photons pass through that tiny hole?
Still, I’m looking forward to seeing some sample photos shot with the 920.

      Coming very soon

      • Abhay_naik

my current Lumia 900 camera is useless even in day light. Its too grainy and does not look like a 8MP camera pic at all. Does 920 camera use the same sensor as that of 900?

Will there be any difference in the day light performance on 920 camera when compared to my 900 camera? The pureview tech is only useful for low light. Optical stabilization is needed only when you shoot at low shutter speeds.

      • Yourhouseguest

I think I’ll wait for the Pureview N-series with 4.7 inch super AMOLED screen on Symbian Carla next year.

        Maybe I’m dreaming.

  • Kadusch

It would have been such a great device if we would be able to put Harmattan or even Symbian on it. :-(

    • http://conversations.nokia.com/ Adam Fraser

Stick to topic, Kadusch. We get it, you prefer Symbian and Harmattan. You don’t need to post it on every story.

If you want reminding of what is and what is not accepted in our comments, give the comments policy a read.

Does the Nokia 920 have rich recording like the Nokia 808?

The camera tech is impressive, even if the camera still is a bit of a disappointment I must say., but what use is stable videos if the audio in the videos is no good or maybe even unusable?

Rich Recordning + 41MP sensor with PureView in the 808 is a killer combo, is there anything regarding audio recording that was just not mentioned..?

will probably buy one anyway, but this is important to know :)

Love my Lumia 800, but is still have to carry my Nokia N8 with me, because the camera in the Lumia is just no good at all. So after I will get my Nokia 808  the 920 looks very interesting..   we need more info on the specs of it though :)

If you watch twitter he is not the single one which is a little bit upset.

I share the opinion. If Nokia doesn’t release fast a own device it could get to late.

What should be the point of comments if you don’t want feedback?

If you don’t like the feedback just listen to your customers and change what they dislike. It’s simple.

        • http://conversations.nokia.com/ Adam Fraser

Nokia has clearly stated the direction for future smartphones, and that’s Windows Phone.

Plus, the rules are the rules. Stick to topic, as stated in the comments policy.

          • Micha66

So nothing for current customers anymore?

          • http://www.facebook.com/gmiguel83 Jorge Miguel

I only have one thing to say to you: #SwitchToLumia.

          • redexx

And what about the future disruptions Elop mentioned at Feb 11th statement?

      • Kadusch

I’m sorry. I commuted back home today very early to don’t miss the live stream. My disappointment was perhaps too strong to stay on topic. I will try to be more patient and wait until Nokia will release again something for me. :-(

“Shut up and take my money” :)))
Just recently got Lumia 900, but I am very impressed with 920. On one hand, it is stupid to replace a new phone with newer one, but, on other hand, it will be my birthday in a few months, so I will have an excuse :)
Anyway, I think Nokia started making phones that people now desperately want and like, well done!
And I do like bigger screen. “Bigger”, not “bulkier”. I think ideal screen size for smartphone is between 4″ and 4″5′, so it still comfortable to use it as a phone as well as for “smartphone” stuff.

    Cheers,
    Rustam.

      > Anyway, I think Nokia started making phones that people
      > now desperately want and like, well done!

Yeah, riiiight. I wonder where are all those massive sales and happy clients though…

“On a 1-5 rating scale, 41% of Lumia 900 owners scored the handset as a ’1′, with an average score of only 2.5 out of 5″ (c) yankee group

      • http://profiles.google.com/rsadykoff Rustam Sydykov

        Hello, B K.
Le’ts admit: Nokia is out of fasion now and this explains low sales. Lumia 900 is a pretty good phone, however, in recent poll from Nokia I said that I would not recommend it to anyone. Why? Because it is not upgradable to WP8! My point is that unhappiness of the customers can be explained by this fact, no way it deserves “1″! I switched from Android, forced my wife to use Lumia 900 instead of iPhone 4s – and we are both quite satisfied. My wife is even happier than me because she is not botherd by the fact that she will not get WP8 :)
        Cheers,
        Rustam.

made by butterfingers for butterfingers. 185g and 160 are signs of incompetence in manufacturing. having only 2 models are signs of Nokia’s end and ignorance

    • cermevez

jajajajaja…. WOWWW!!! TOOOO HEAVY!!!! 20 grams heavier than normal!!!!! WOWWW!!!!! hahahahahaha!!!!!!

    • Guest

then the fruit company had obviously ended already since they will only release one model…

Now that the Iphone 5 has been released Nokia might as well not even release the 920/820 until they have a product that will compete. In comparison any unique features that Nokia has is far outweighed by one major negative-thickness.

  • http://www.facebook.com/yoligon Yolimar Gonzalez

    cyan 920? pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I don´t like the 820

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Madhu-Surapaneni/36620635 Madhu Surapaneni

I dearly hoped for the 4.3″ form factor to be the killer product this time. But they just made everything heavy and bulky.

In addition, what we have is shitty swappable covers and glossy material. Also 800*480 display on an L820? Why is it not L720 instead?

Investors like myself are greatly disappointed! I guess HTC will be the new market leader as far as Windows Phones is concerned.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Madhu-Surapaneni/36620635 Madhu Surapaneni

Are you planning to ship the wireless charging dock with the phone (or AT&T stealing the accessories)? If not, this could be another epic fail esp. considering the competition from HTC!

  • worldgoingmad

Any reason why the 920 won’t be available in Cyan? It was a very popular colour on the current Lumia range, and it’s available for the 820. Even the JBL speakers are Cyan – which means the 920 won’t match them ….

  • Raja Vairaashtak

No FM radio, and no FM transmitter. These 2 features should be present in all Nokia phones.

  • celestin

I was planning to buy a Lumia 920 until I discovered it has no FM radio. That
is a killer for me. I listen to my radio at work about 4 hours a day. Why do you
have to do the same mistakes as Apple:

    - No FM receiver

    - No FM transmitter

    - No replaceable battery

    - No SD card…

It is a Waouah, but not a positive one
