Video: Introducing the Nokia Lumia 920

Published by Boc Ly on September 5, 2012

The world’s most innovative smartphone, the new Nokia Lumia 920, has been unveiled in New York and it is everything you need for capturing, navigating and experiencing the world around you.

The Lumia 920 is the first Windows Phone to benefit from PureView imaging technology and the first phone in the world to have physical Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for blur-free images even when your hand is not rock steady. It is the best camera we have ever put in a smartphone to date.

Nokia Lumia 920 Tech & spec:

Display: 4.5 inch Nokia PureMotion HD+ WXGA IPS LCD, Super Sensitive touch, Nokia ClearBlack with high brightness mode and Sunlight Readability Enhancements

Battery: 2000mAh with integrated Qi wireless charging

Processor: 1.5GHz Dual Core Snapdragon S4

Main Camera:8.7MP with Nokia PureView advanced optical imaging stabilization and Carl Zeiss optics

Full 1080p HD video capture at 30fps

Front facing camera: 1.2MP with 720p HD video

Memory: 1GB RAM, 32GB mass memory with 7GB free SkyDrive storage

Nokia’s innovative PureView expertise allows the camera on the Lumia 920 to take in five times more light than other smartphones without using the flash, making it capable of taking bright, clear and vivid images even in low light and indoor conditions.

Seeing those images on your Lumia 920 will also look better than ever thanks to another advance pioneered by Nokia. The 4.5-inch screen sees the debut of PureMotion HD+ technology, which means the display on the Lumia 920 will be the brightest, fastest and most responsive touchscreen on the market. Even gloves and long fingernails can operate the screen.

As well as being a smartphone that can hold its head up high in the company of digital SLR cameras, the Lumia 920 is trailblazing the way forward in plenty of other areas too.

The Lumia 920 is at the forefront of a new global move towards wireless charging that will make it easier for you to keep your devices powered up.

You will be able to wirelessly charge your Lumia 920 using a range of exciting accessories, such as the Fatboy™ Recharge Pillow, and even when you’re out enjoying a coffee at your local Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf café, or waiting for your flight in the Virgin Atlantic lounges at London Heathrow or at JFK airport in New York.

As well as all these hardware innovations, the Lumia 920 offers a fantastic and personal smartphone experience with Windows Phone 8.

Nokia City Lens is the latest addition to Nokia’s peerless suite of location-based apps. Among a number of significant improvements, new to its Windows Phone 8 release, Nokia Maps is now available for offline use.

There’s also Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer 10, Nokia Music, multi-platform gaming with Xbox and a range of cool apps and exclusive Lumia content and experiences.

    Its Optical or Optimal?

*cough* I have no idea what you mean…. (thanks for the spot – fixed).

        optimal optical maybe ;)

Doesn’t seem to have a micro sd slot :-(

    • 123321

      it just doesn’t have one.

  • avaD

I would love one of these but I can’t afford one now. Nokia is the only brand phone I use, It’s always the best!

    perfectness

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_H7XZGHA4CN5PQYAMAHRAH7WZWM Don Farmer

Wow , this is great.  The features just kept coming and coming unlike any phone I’ve ever heard of and they still have more to come on Win8 features.  Love that yellow and that curved screen.  Great charging pillow, speakers and charging speaker.  Looks like we’ll be able to read books in the sunlight.  Why haven’t I heard of all these features on other OEM’s phones, ever??I think it’s because Nokia is better. ..so much better.

  • MasterMuffin

Wow, better than my samsung galaxy s3! I SHOULD HAVE WAITED FOR THIS instead of buying it…

beautiful and amazing.. cant wait for this [hone

Once the lumia is available, will I be able to upgrade even though I’m only half way through my contract? When the new iPhone comes out AT&T gives me the full subsidized price even though my contract isnt over. Will this be an option for the lumias?

the lumia WP7 series never came to Qatar i wish this comes here in time

wow me parece un celular excelente quiisiera uno talvez del pues pudiera conseguir uno
mejor que los presumidos de iphone o sistema op android

Nokia, I’m really disappointed. I was expecting something much better for the camera. Only 8MP? Who are you kidding? Your Pureview 808 has 41MP, why on earth would you give us only 8MP? 18MP would be much better and would place you way ahead the competition.

    • Micha66

Microsoft has currently the control over the Software. So Nokia has only limited influence.

      • http://twitter.com/Plathene Plathene

Sensor and MP are not software, but hardware. Pureview was a big move for Nokia, they missed it with the 808 which is a crappy phone, and they missed it with the Lumia 920 which has downgraded camera.

    • http://www.facebook.com/agent0bean Winsly Jucar

as Damian Dining said, PureView is not about the number of pixels,…

      • 123321

        people never get that :D

        • http://twitter.com/dalydose Jeff Daly

I am certainly one of the pople who doesn’t get it. They can call PureView whatever they want. OK, we get it, it’s the software. Marketing speak doesn’t negate that pixels DO matter. You don’t want a 1MP camera, do you? It’s not the only factor and many people put too much stock in have countless MP stats. No, I don’t think we need the 41MP like the 808. I’d still like a camera to offer lossless zoom, though. 16MP is doable in the form factor…HTC did it with Titan 2. With 16MPs, you could zoom 100% and have a pixel perfect 8MP picture.

    • http://www.facebook.com/agent0bean Winsly Jucar

as Damian Dining said, PureView is not about the number of pixels,…

  • Lovrena

Hmmm.. No microSD support and strong hurt for the award winning PureView brand itself. Nokia 808 has 41 MP 1/1.2″ sensor with Xenon flash while the new Lumia 920 has 1/3″ sensor with 8,7 MP and dual LED. So not even as “PureView” as the old N8.

I hope to see some *REAL* PureView Lumia model in the future with massive camera upgrade.

    • http://twitter.com/Plathene Plathene

Yes exactly. I was so excited, I hoped for new Lumias with at least 20MP with Xenon flash and leds for the video (like the 808). Instead, we get this sad little camera.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_T74METFPW2E7C7X43PS4HQEF2A En

is that what nokia was teasing that would change everything? LOL! Disappointing!! Frustrating..

when will they learn? today’s competition is all about higher #s – multicore phones,  higher MP count (not necessarily 41). because majority of the buyers are fascinated by higher #s,,, because majority of them don’t read blogs, because many of them don’t read phone reviews.

so what if it produce blurr free images or videos? after all, very few people would be aware of it. & for majority of the buyer, higher/more is better.

Puremotion HD+? Why did they call it like that? Its so confusing,, because when somebody hears it, its so likely that they will think its the “video version” of PureView. Why not just call it CBD+ or CBD HD+?

    Sigh…

So don’t be surprised if this phone doesn’t attract much buyers. Specially that the most awaited iphone5 is to be announced next week.

Oh & now i can proudly say I did a right decision – the decision not to wait for this lumia but instead bought a Nokia 808.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_T74METFPW2E7C7X43PS4HQEF2A En

ah! & where is fm radio & transmitter? hdmi? rich recording? oh wait!! LED instead of xenon? No memory card slot?? LOL!

      • http://twitter.com/Plathene Plathene

Is it seriously missing all those stuff? What a joke, Nokia!

      • Richard Maus

I also wanted to see Bluetooth keyboard & mouse.

        • http://twitter.com/federico9292 Federico ⚡

[deleted - please don't use bad language. Check the comments policy.]

      • http://twitter.com/WMP_Lucas Lucas K

It has FM Radio… You need a Memory Card when you have 32 GB plus 7 or 25 (for older user) GB Cloud storage? Why XENON when the phone does even completely without flash impressive pictures by night. The only two points I agree with are HDMI and FM Transmitter (which can be bought for 5 euros as a own accessiore). And please imagine all the things a Lumia can do but other, especially Symbian phones, can’t before you write things like that.
        Sent from my Lumia 800

      • worldgoingmad

It has rich recording. “So what if it produces blur free images or videos.?” Really? Are you mad?
If you’re upset that it doesn’t have FM transmitter, you must be equally upset that it doesn’t have an infrared port …. who uses those nowadays? You don’t have a line-in on your car stereo? Sheesh.

        • george muvirimi

so you prefer a cable to connect to you car radio rather than using the FM transmitter?

          • worldgoingmad

Absolutely. However, I stream music to my car stereo with Bluetooth.

    • http://twitter.com/Plathene Plathene

Yes, exactly. Nokia missed their move here. I wish the Nokia 808 was running something else than Symbian, which is a piece of crap.

Nokia can make the best phone cameras out there, and with Microsoft, they finally had a shot at having a nice operating system, which would make the perfect smartphone.

  • Ondřej Nývlt

Where’s a blue variation of Lumia 920? I don’t like red and yellow, but blue Lumia 800 looks great. And lots of accessories are blue too. I think blue Lumia 920 could look great and fill the empty gap.

  • Frankyzilla

I own a Lumia 800 and I am absolutely delighted with the new Lumia 920. The innovative camera, wireless charging, city lens, NFC, LTE and the new Windows Phone 8 OS are all wonderful and a far cry to the iPhone. The new larger 4.5inch screen and the range of colours especially the yellow one. I hope though Nokia would add a luminous green colour instead of the grey one and continue with the cyan colour too. The decision to have the glossy finish is a decision I fully support.

  • xnay

First of all – Nokia, pleas give a “warm greetings” to the people responsible for the live streaming of this event, because you failed completely. Imagine if you announce an event and also the live broadcast, many people (like me) are waiting impatiently for it to watch, and you failed them. Please, prepare better next time you’re going to do a live broadcast, there are many companies that can do it right.
    ——

Now to the phone itself (920):
I’m thinking – either you were unable to put the real PureView into a WP 8 device (as many expected) or you did it on purpose and are preparing another, real PureView phone. Or you just wanted to cut costs. And why the hell the glossy finish? Don’t you read phone reviews, don’t you know people prefer matte finish? 920 = great fingerprint magnet. OK that’s my 3 cents of bitching ;).No – what I have to say – as a Galaxy S3 owner I must say – congratulations, especially for what you did with this camera sensor and also for some interesting apps. This phone can really be called a 900 successor. Not some minor improvements like SGS2–>SGS3. I really wish Nokia success because you’re the most innovative company, especially when it comes to camera/photo/video department. For example – let’s look what innovative Samsung did in the camera when comparing SGS2 to SGS3 – nothing! In general – what other manufacturers did? -Almost nothing, HTC has put some accent on camera features but nothing special generally, except that F2.0 lens.I wish you success and I’m waiting patiently for a real PureView device ;).

    • judazuk

well Apple sure don’t ..they never live broadcast anything  :)

    • http://twitter.com/Plathene Plathene

” I’m waiting patiently for a real PureView device ;).”

      So am I!

      • http://twitter.com/dalydose Jeff Daly

        Me too

    • worldgoingmad

“And why the hell the glossy finish? Don’t you read phone reviews, don’t you know people prefer matte finish?”
Don’t YOU read phone reviews? It’s available in matte colors too.

      • xnay

yes, you’re right – 2 most boring colors are matte: black and gray.

  • http://twitter.com/dalydose Jeff Daly

I have been really excited to see this phone announced and put on display.  There is a TON to be excited about.  There is just enough missing that I’ll probably keep my Lumia 900 and wait for the second wave.  Why???

    1.  There doesn’t appear to be removeable/upgradeable storage. This is going to be a big deal.  Those camera features are going to take up storage.  Those multiple image “lenses” things and the 1080P video are all going to require lots of space. Not to mention offline maps, other apps, music, etc.

    2.  8MP camera – I know, I know…the mantra is that pixels don’t count and at a certain level that is true. The sensor and glass (lens) are other, arguably more, important factors in image quality. Pixels DO count though.  The best use of more pixels in this case is lossless digital zoom.  Even with 16MP, if you set it to shoot at 8MP, you can zoom in 100%.

There is so much to love that I’m glad that I have these holding me back from paying retail so I can keep my Lumia 900 and get a Surface tablet. Hopefully on the next wave of Lumia, they will upgrade the sensor not try to convince us that pixels don’t matter.

Oh…I hope that swappable cover comes to the 9-series, as well. That’s pretty cool!

    • http://twitter.com/Plathene Plathene

You’ve got it right. No MicroSD is a big no-go.

About the camera, not only are there only 8MP, but there’s only a led flash, and probably no rich-recording. Pureview 808 has 41MP, rich-recording, xenon flash and double leds for videos.

Why on earth didn’t they pack at least 15MP with a Xenon flash?

      • http://www.facebook.com/nigamankur Ankur Nigam

MicroSD is supported in 820. I don’t think you ought to bother of SD card if you have 32GB internal memory. After this, I have my 7GB sky space. The only thing I want to know is whether the device is USB OTG ready? Now this adds up some serious flexibility.

      • ymcpa

  • Thomas Walz

wow, thats a really great phone. folks, a SD card slot is not all, 32 GB are really much, what is space if you have a bad camera ?? i have a lumia 800, and i would do nearly anything to get such a cool phone! i already try to convince my friends of a lumia windows phone.

    • http://www.facebook.com/sc1dgp Shraman Chakraborty

i do the same, tell frnds to get a Windows phone .. but all they undersatand is all about No. of cores and megapixels craze with latest android… gosh when will these KNOW IT ALL people understand practicality..

  • judazuk

Does the Nokia Lumia 920  have Rich Recording, an almost forgotten but amazing feature of the Nokia 808?

…  if you get great and stable videos, what does it matter if the sound in them is crap…  i really hope you just forgot to mention Rich Recording …

Disappointing camera..but still an amazing phone otherwise.  … cant be worse then the camera in the Lumia 800 that is a joke compared to the N8 and even the N9, and i still love the Lumia …I just cant take any good pictures with it ..   but i got two Nokia N8′s for that *Lol*  and soon a Nokia 808

    • http://conversations.nokia.com Ian Delaney

I know that Dolby are involved on the audio side. We’ll seek further details.

      • judazuk

        Thank you  :)

Looking at the specs  i found this :
Audio recording features:Mono with high volume capture  This unfortunately does not say much  :)   can it handle 146db like the Nokia 808?  …   to bad its just mono, but I’m more interesting how high volumes it can actually handle

    • http://twitter.com/Plathene Plathene

No it doesn’t. Such a shame that the 808′s amazing camera is coupled to such a shitty phone (Sorry but symbian sucks).

  • Avatar Roku

So much cutting edge stuff here:

-Springs around the entire optics assembly for image stabilization better than DSLR

-Incredible low light image performance with the f2.0

-768p HD display with pixel density higher than Retina

-HDMotion+ display with 2.5x faster pixel transition speed than all other phones

-Wireless charging with Qi standard rolling out to retail locations

-Synaptics Super Sensitive Touch lets you use phone with gloves or nails

-NFC pairing and wireless charging speakers

-Cinemagraph photos for Harry Potter style animated photos

-SmartShoot so you can erase people and objects from photos Back to the Future style.

Nokia is doing an amazing job innovating and moving the smartphone industry forward.

    • http://twitter.com/Plathene Plathene

Please tell me why they only packed 8MP when they have the technology to put at least 20MP (Pureview 808 has 41). For me that’s a no-go.

      • kellyghendricks

If you had a current Lumia device (900 or so) you would realize that its not all about the number of megapixels. The current Lumia is 8mp, but the sensor is pretty bad. A better sensor will go a lot further than just taking larger pictures.

        • http://twitter.com/Plathene Plathene

A pureview 18 MP with the right sensor would be amazing and surely better.

        • http://twitter.com/dalydose Jeff Daly

It’s not ALL about the pixels, but the pixels DO matter. Like someone said above, I was hoping to get lossless zoom and now that’s not really going to happen.

        • gadgety

It’s about the print, it’s the lossless zooming, while maintaining sensitivity. How will this camera act when zooming. In addition, oversampling raises Image Quality. This not on the 920, despite having other innovative aspects.

they have to SELL the “old” tecnology. yes, they have a 20mp sensor, but… the 8 one? the 12 one? the 15 one? they have to sell them before, and then when you reach the “commercial” 20mpx, they will have ready to sell the 50mpx… do you understand? they are selling to us their “old” tecnology…

      • http://www.facebook.com/atley.hunter Atley Hunter

The reson they don’t pack th 41 MP camera into the Lumia 920 is because of the space necessary to house the lensing for a camera that powerful.
If you have seen the PureView 808 IRL you would know that you cannnot lay it flat on it’s back because the camera section is more than twice as thick as the rest of the phone.
With existing lens technology, 8 MP is about the right amount of capacity to allow for the sleek, sexy design of the Lumia.
I know that they are working diligently to improve the lens technology and when the lenses are capable of that pixel depth without compromising the design of the phones, I am sure that we will see more Lumias with this stunning feature.
The Pureview 808 was more of a concept phone and a teaser of what’s to come.
If you think of it. 10, 12 and 16 MP cameras have been around for years now, the only reason we don’t see it in phones is that the lens technology has not progressed to that level yet to produce a portable, small, cost-effective (would you want to pay an additional 200$ just to get 2 or 4 more MP???) necessary for the smartphone audience.
PureView is more than the MP count, it is the whole deal, the lens housing (innovative, yet simple), the software, and the lenses themselves.

i really really love the new lumia phones. it is so much more than i was hoping for. can’t wait till the come to germany.
but i have a question concerning the colours: what about cyan? and are all colours glossy like the yellow? hopefully not. i liked the matt finish of the black lumia 800/900… is the black lumia 920 similar?

    • Kaacz

Don’t wait. Buy anything of new smartphones many months before Lumia. :p Nokisoft epic fail…

      • 123321

please troll anywhere else. thanks for your advice but i can decide on my own. and i will buy a lumia 920 in black or grey. just got the info that those colours come in matt finish.

        • Kaacz

Your decide. a) don’t wait, buy anything else. b) wait and shut up. It’s your decide. :)

First Lumias before xmas in USA and Q1 in rest world? 6 months after introducing? Tens of millions iPhone5 will be sold before the first new Lumia. Nokia fail, harms itelf.

PS: you trolled here more then I. I don’t want have your second name. :)

I was all over this until I realized it had no external SD. What the heck. You put it on the mid range device but not the flagship. Another missed opportunity for Nokia and MS.
Motorola announces a phone today that will be available in 2 weeks with pricing and we cant even get where the 920 will be released or when.

    • http://www.facebook.com/sc1dgp Shraman Chakraborty

it has 32GB of internal storage.. isn’t that enuf for anyone? the 820 has 8gb internal so its got microSD card slot..bt 920 alone has 32GB… people hardly use 16GB in their daily life.. want more space thn buy a tablet with external HDD support.. anyways a phone should be primarily a phone with good backup, nokia has always delivered it… and thesedays Androids are Battery suckers… so for day to day practicality Windows Excels, watever the manufacturer(Nokia, samsung,HTC or watever)… Though Battery was never Nokia’s issue.. anyways would be glad to know the pricing of the 920 and 820..

      • http://twitter.com/dalydose Jeff Daly

These are our portable entertainment devices. My 30GB Zune was full before it died and now my phone is my main music playing device. It will also store photos and video. It would be amazing to have an SD card for movies when travelling and one for a system backup and big 64GB one that holds my whole music collection.

  • ESjones

Every windows phone should come with a premium 100GB Sky Drive account.  It will be a big selling feature, it will cost Microsoft next to nothing, it will keep people in the ecosystem, people won’t complain about no micro SD. But either way I am buying this phone.

    • 123321

:D:D 100GB skydrive for free? :D and what are you dreaming about at night? who will pay that? microsoft? nokia? that will never ever happen. 25GB and now 7GB for free is much more than on any cloud of competitors.

      • ESjones

A whopping 50 dollars of profit out of Microsoft pocket to significantly increase the success of their phones.  Easily they will make more than that off the app purchases of the people who end up buying their phones.  Sell more phones, increase use on those phones, make more money.  Plus, most people wouldn’t ever use that much space anyways.  Giving away a free feature that costs the company nothing if the people don’t use it anyways (which most won’t) is pure marketing genius.  And then who would buy an iphone with 32GBs when the wp8 has 132GBs!

  • Kaacz

Great piece of HW. But with MS forced OS. Godbye Nokia. N9 forever ( for rest of his life with 2 spare N9 ). :(

    • 123321

do you just say that because it has windows phone in the name of the os? or did you ever heard a single piece of information about the upcoming os?

    • http://twitter.com/nra101 Atif A

I have used the N9. My WP7.5 is better than that, let alone WP8. You have no idea what you are talking about. I bet your next phone will be an iPhone. People who don’t know anything, buy an iPhone. People who think they know a lot, buy Android. People who know what the future is about, buy Windows Phone 8.

Can it transfer files to a computer using a standard method, such as USB mass storage, bluetooth or microSD card? The good camera is a lot less useful if this is not possible.

  • junecrisfrye

Yes Same 8MP and other feature as the other older phones, but it is a WP8 feat…. sooner or later they will upgrade for faster processor and henge upgrade feature…. Nokia just adjusting their products

It still has no Adobe Flash though. How frustrating. What is the point competing with the iPhone when this phone doesn’t have flash. I don’t care if Adobe says it’s phasing flash out. Today there are still lots of flash websites out there.

    • worldgoingmad

It’s dead. Jellybean doesn’t launch with flash support either. Nor iOS. Adobe have consigned it to the history books.

by the way does the lumia 820 and 920 have Bluetooth File Transfer? it was major issue with WP 7.5…

    • 123321

      that depends on wp8…
but there were rumors that it will be included… so lets see…

    • http://twitter.com/ahmedmahadik Ahmedkhan Mahadik

yes…and even 1st gen phones are gonna get media transfer over bluetooth….as released in nokia updates
Additional new features for all Lumia devices will include:A new Start screen look and feel, familiar from Windows Phone 8, giving you a whole new look the moment you unlock your phoneRingtone maker app to selected markets to create a personal ringtoneContact share app updated to support sharing over Bluetooth in addition to SMS and emailBluetooth file transfer to send media files via Bluetooth from your Lumia device to any other phone

      • Kaacz

YEP. One year after N9 have old Lumias near same functionality as N9. Not all. Good. Still missing true USB MassStorage. And NFC.

        • 123321

          the new lumias have nfc

        • http://twitter.com/ahmedmahadik Ahmedkhan Mahadik

see the thing is…Nokia hasnt forgotten its old users…its still coming up wid important updates …and not updating just for the sake of updating like other companis/os’s…so give credit where its due

The hardware looks amazing, I loved the previous Lumia models but this takes things to a whole new level. Windows Phone 8 remains fluid and adds so much more too.

As for the broadcast itself: I was watching Motorola’s event, they were streaming via YouTube, there were 14000 live users and no problems with watching in 720p resolution. So a tip to Nokia: better use YouTube next time.

  • Gene Schojan

It figures. I waited and thought har before changing from my EVO 3d but, decided on the nokia lumia 900. A little over a month ago. I think if they knew alot of this stuff couldn’t be updated they should have given big discounts on older nokia’s to upgrade. Not sure if I will stick with windows anymore. Maybe, Android is better.

  • GB

I’m reading that DLNA is on it’s way to the Lumias…Cloud is cool, but moving movies from home server to my phone via wi-fi is better, and doesn’t eat up data usage. This alone bumps the iPhone out for me. And the WP8 OS is awesome. I’ll be picking up 4 of these in November(???) in the US. The whole family will be on 920′s by January. Nice job on the phones, Nokia…and next time, don’t cheat on the OIS ads….your phone is really good, but being called a fake is hard to shake in this market.

  • http://www.facebook.com/prakash.shethia Prakash Shethia

  • djsat2

Come on guys, this changes nothing, look back at your recent phones (N9, N8 specifically) and when you can make a phone which matches the hardware features of these and integrates it into WP8, then and onyl then will I buy another Nokia.

    • 123321

can you tell sth more about thos features you miss?

      • djsat2

Where is the FM transmitter? The HDMI out? The card slot? IPS LCD? That’s for iPhones, where’s the OLED display? The only innovation in this is the wireless charging and even that’s been done before. No doubt the software will severely limit my freedom to copy what files I want onto the phone (nokia suite compatibility?) and what online/cloud services i can fully integrate with. I don’t want an iphone/android wannabe, I want a Nokia please?

        • 123321

          then take your old symbian.

fm transmitter >> u can use internet radio.
hdmi out >> no need vor average people. furthermore they would destroy the unibody once more. isnt there any option for an adapter with micro-usb?
display >> did you try the new puremotion hd+ from the nokia lumia 920? sure you didn’t had the chance. maybe its much better than your display options you’ve posted. we have to wait for the tests.
          pureview-camera technology >> no innovation?
multitouchdisplay can be used with gloves >> no innovation?
copying files are rumored to be as easy as it is with usbflashdrives.
nokia suite >> wp-phone devices won’t be compatible. there will be the windows phone companion-app.
cloud services >> skydrive is completely integrated. i dont know what cloud service you use, but there is no service which offers better things than skydrive. just compare them.

          • djsat2

you comments are biased. i don’t want to use skydrive, i already use picassa/google drive, rumours about usb copying and companion apps are not good enough, i could use a glove or keys multitouch on my 5800 and what is innovative about pureview? its just a brand name for a camera that has a few specials features. how do i use internet radio when my radio has no internet connection? i want to use an fm transmitter. unibody is already broken by microusb and sim slot so why not one more connection? as i said before, when nokia can more a phone which matches their 2-3 year old phones for hardware capabilities, i will buy one. ur arguments are irrelevant.

          • 123321

yours are irrelevant for most people too. sry man.

          • djsat2

haha ur a fan boy, no respect. im voicing my opinion, its mine, not urs.

          • Sugadevan

@djsat2 please stick with android, it will be suitable for guys like you, u wont understand :) IPS lcd? oh man 920 have
puremotion hd+(google this!) which is better than any display in world! iphone’s retina is gimmick when compared to 920 display. 920 have more ppi than s3 and iphone. 32gigs are there, skydrive have 7gb(25gb for old users), no need of sd cards. u have picasa, google drive, we dont care.. skydrive beats google drive! pureview is not innovative? can u read something before posting? Opitcal image stabilization using “floating optics” which minimises blur due to camera shake. sharp images even in low light places, already 920 camera test kills s3 and iphone’s camera these are not just “another features”.u guys complain tht 920 have only 8.7 MP, but with pureview 8 MP is better than 16MP without pureview. please read about megapixels and pureview. fm transmitter is not needed, hear internet radio, iphone dont have radio, ask them!! please dont spill ur crtic comments in a place where nobody notice you, please discuss this in a tech site or tech forums where u receive replies and answers!! u discuss with android fanboys abt lumia then u decide tht 920 is bad? yes? :)

          • djsat2

again, fanboy, i was voicing my opinion, i dont care about your. and please, look up what an fm transmitter is, you’re getting it all wrong. i never said 920 was bad, i said nokia should build something that compares better to their previous phones hardware-wise. read read read before u reply. thnx.

          • Moudi

Well. Maybe Lumia is too innovative for some ppl. :)

          • 123321

if we start talking about things without respect please shut up.

may be i am a fan of nokia and the new lumias.
but if you want to tell me i am a hyping, crying little kid who just wants to buy everything new from nokia without considering what it is or what it can do i can tell you i’m not. but at the moment nokia is able to offer me a product (lumia 920) which meets my needs and my style. furthermore nokia will sell the lumia 920/820 for people with similiar needs. if you have different needs and if they arent similiar to the majority of consumers it might not be the one phone for you but then please stop talking to others without respect.thats a no go. nokia has to go for the needs of the majority of consumers first and those people dont want to pay for things they dont use.

now you got my opinion. i hope you can comprehend it or even just a little bit ;)

          • 123321

sry about my comment concerning the fm transmitter. i got that wrong (translating mistake). english isn’t my native language.

          • http://twitter.com/dalydose Jeff Daly

If you like Picassa and GDrive so much, you will probably be happier with an Android. If the Google ecosystem is so important to you then why do you want to switch to Windows Phone? SkyDrive works seamlessly with Windows Phone like GDrive works with Android and iCloud works with iPhone.

    • muvig

i agree with you. i wish it was possible for tailer made phones. i would prefer all features on N8 transferred to 920 + new innovations of this 920. the may name the phone Nokia lumia 921 what ever the price i would pay. at the moment we are stuck with nokia n8.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tarniak16 Dominik Tarnowski

What a lies. The best camera in smartphone is 12MP and that smartphone is Nokia N8

    • 123321

are you sure that it can take better images than the lumia 920 especially in low light conditions?

  • thanks

does it have voip or sip client..thanks

  • http://www.maulanurulkhakam.com Maula Nurul Khakam

the camera so awesome.. but why use windows?? not android..

Bluetooth File Transfer. Wifi Hotspot. Bluetooth tethering, Mass Storage, wide variety of apps like available in Google Play & iStore, A Better music player (If you have used music player in Lumia 710, 800,900 you’ll know what crap it is. Can’t even make a proper playlist in it or reorder them, those minute details are so important) NOBODY LIKES ZUNE!!! PLEASE NOKIA / MS UNDERSTAND THIS!!! MASS STORAGE IS IMPORTANT!!! If these features are not there then no matter how beautiful the phone is to look, WINDOWS PHONE will never claim the market & Nokia will be fail, which 90% of nokia users agree that it made a big mistake! If nokia had taken android at least it would still be number 1 & come out with specs like SAMSUNG has for its high end Galaxy series phones. You all know the flaws of iPhone & how over priced they are. Your chance to include every feature & reclaim the number 1 spot. Please heed the feedback of your users. Listen to the customers what they want! Implement it! Or don’t & suffer a phase out like Seimens & Motorola.

Can’t wait to buy one of those yummy phones. it’s delicious, like a chicken beryiani,
I am really fed up with stupid iPhone. iPhone is like McDonalds, no taste, no energy, no vitamines, just fat and crap

    amazing

  • Canis_dirus

The PureView technology has been all over the reviews and initial hands-on videos. But will someone please verify if the Lumia 920 has haptic feedback when typing?
One thing I would like to have in the Nokia Lumia 920 is haptic feedack when typing like that on my Nokia N9. It’s one feature that put me off getting the Lumia 900 when I tried using my bro-in-law’s.

    • 123321

oh i think you’ll be disappointed in this point…no lumia device had haptic feedback when you were typing. only when you press the softkeys (back, start, search).

  • hypper9

Got a black Lumia 800 and I like it not only because it’s beautiful, but because WP7 is super easy to use to do your everyday stuff that a phone’s supposed to… Ok, and now I’m amazed by the 920 and I’m sure I will buy One. #TheYellowOne. But, Nokia & Microsoft should pay a little more attention on the “Phone” app which lacks a few simple features, for example:

1 – If I want to buy data with the credit on my phone, I should dial *141*6# and chose an amount of data I want from the menu of about 8 options that comes after the *141*6#… but the problem with my Lumia is that you cannot pick any option. That means every time I want to buy data I have to switch phones.

2 – Call duration on the call log for received and dialed numbers.

3 – Please make the “Answer Call” button GREEN and the “Reject Call” button RED.

4 – Multitasking… it does not have to be the way Symbian does it, but at least just to keep the apps stable and not shut down on it’s own after the screen locks, or you open a new app, or receive a call.

The real question is does it have auto reflow of text in the browser. I love my wp7 but there is no feature more missed than this. Zooming and moving about a page is a drudgery and a chore that is not worth the effort.

I can’t believe that Croatian market hasn’t yet received one yet and the operators don’t know when it will be available nor they introduced one nor even teased. Very bad for one of the european countries. I am patiently waiting for at least some word on the new Nokia Lumia 920 here in Croatia, but nothing yet. Who decides on the availability of these products, operators or the local Nokia offices?
