Blogger reactions to new Nokia Gear

Published by Tom Hall on September 6, 2012

You may have missed this yesterday while you were transfixed by the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820, but there were a couple of pretty cool accessories announced too.

First to the jump with a round up was Alvin over at Unleash The Phones, who covered the announcement of the wireless charging accessories (including the wireless charging plate, Fatboy wireless recharging pillow), and the NFC pairing of the JBL PowerUp Speaker (that also wirelessly charges your Nokia Lumia 920 or 820).

For a hands on video of the charging mat and the JBL PowerUp speaker we turn to Mobile Geeks (quick note – there’s quite a lot of background noise, it was a busy event, after all):

Shawn Ingram from Gotta Be Mobile also took note of the ‘interesting’ accessories, highlighting the focus on music, whereas the guys at Phones Review concentrate more on the wireless charging aspect, especially the Fatboy pillow.

For an official introduction to the accessories, there are videos of the DT-900 charging plate and the JBL PlayUp Portable Wireless Speaker for Nokia MD-51W

on the official Nokia YouTube channel. So which accessory impresses you the most? Will you be wirelessly charging at the earliest opportunity? And pairing via NFC with the JBL PowerUp speaker? Let us know in the comments or share your thoughts on Twitter.

My shopping list 2 Nokia wireless charging stands, 1 playup for the boat, 1 bigger wireless charging speaker, 1 yellow 920.
Thanks for the Nokia Music in the U.S.Entrance by Aol and Paypal. Thanks for your continued support for the 900.

Will certainly get charging plate or the stand. Not yet decided.

JBL PlayUp Portable is also one possibility. Liking the idea of combining NFC, speaker and charging surface.

If I am able to get a Lumia 920 (my 900 is only 5mos. old), then I would jump on that speaker for my room, and possibly those headphones to replace my aging BH-905s.

I have neither nfc nor wireless charging capable devices, so, no, I am not getting one yet, but the JBL PowerUp speaker is definitely seductive. Any price info?

Is the “JBL PowerUp” a stereophonic speaker? I mean the blue wide speaker in the video. I expect it to contain speakers for the left and right channels. Right?

I love the new gears, I’m wondering though about the trend in co-branding. For example the Nokia Purity Pro Monster Headset (that came out a while ago) doesn’t seem to be Nokia branded at all…
