Nokia 808 PureView comparison

Published by Tom Hall on September 27, 2012

We’ve got a new review of the Nokia 808 PureView for you today, a comparison with other phones, and a few pics taken with the ‘powerhouse’.

Nokia 808 PureView

The latest in the Nokia 808 PureView series from Fakhre over at Symbian Tweet, the review starts with a bang

‘the best cameraphone currently available in the market’

…and continues in a similar vein as Fakhre covers all aspects in an extremely comprehensive look at the phone. There are unboxing photos, thoughts on the screen, sample photos like this one:

…a look inside the phone, at the technology behind the imaging, and the user interface. Well worth settling in and giving yourself a few minutes to read this one.

Steve Litchfield has posted another of his awesome comparison charts. This time he’s pitched the Nokia 808 PureView against some other leading contenders – the iPhone 5, the Samsung Galaxy III and the Nokia Lumia 920. I’m not going to spoil who wins the battle, but the areas in which the 808 PureView leads it totally dominates.

Finally, a few new pics from the Nokia 808 Pureview that I have seen this week and I have been impressed with.

Taken from the awesome set from Sheridan01 taken at Myrafalle as part of the Austrian leg of the trip that Druv, Stephen and Richard took recently (this time meeting up with Michael):

I want a 808 vs. 920 comparison. Indoors/Outdoors, Low light and Bright conditions, and some videos too.

We need and want a no-holds barred, all scenarios and situations comprehensive, all features blazing Nokia 808 PureView Pro v.1 “Hyperion” VS. Microsoft Lumia 920 extreme face-off comparison with the best features turned on for comparison, like Auto and Full Resolution Creative Mode, ISO settings, Night Scene settings, photos taken with and without tripod, the 2.7 second exposure settings, etc., and side by side comparisons with 100% crops, just like what they do on professional photography comparisons!!!

If Nokia would sell 808PureView in more countries then we would have had our hands on it, but why is it sold in so limited numbers??????

becoz nt everyone want just a camera phone. We all know that nokia has dropped symbian. people dont really want to buy symbian. I live in india where 808 was launched first. People come, see it, says WOW what a camera, awesome, amazing, phadoo, ask if it runs on android, says nice phone and then buy samy

I would like to know why you have dropped support for nokia city lens, I possessor of nokia 808 I would use the application, I spent 500 euro and you leave the stand. I would like a plausible explanation.

After so much reading, i know tht there r 2 different pureview cameras. One having lossless zoom feature, other performs awesome in low light while is not having lossless zoom. It means, the story has nt ended yet. A pureview with all new features ie, lossless zoom, low light performance and ois is still to come. Waiting for it!!!

      Keep waiting… Forever!

I can take great daylight shots with my N8. I imagine that daylight conditions are easier with most cameras. The N8 stuggles in a pub/nightclub environment though. Getting your subject to stand out without making the background black-out is very difficult and going flash-free is a recipe for motion blur. How does the 808 cope with nightclub conditions?
