Update: We have now solved the issues that were causing problems with Nokia Music in this software, and will continue to deliver it from today. There is an additional update to Nokia Music that we recommend you download, too.

If you have already installed this update, from when it was first available, look out for the separate update to Nokia Music in the Software Update app on your phone or Nokia Suite on your PC.

The Nokia 808 PureView is one of the best camera phones ever made, but now a new software update is set to improve the revolutionary device even further.

This update will enhance the imaging experience on your 808 PureView, and lucky owners will know that it is already pretty fantastic! 

After the update has been installed on your Nokia 808 PureView you will benefit from all these new imaging features: 

  • Gallery Grid view when you have the phone in landscape
  • Access to more functions when you open your images from the Gallery widget on your home screen – swipe through other images, zoom, share, edit, and send images faster.
  • More information about your images, such as image resolution, ISO value, white balance setting, and file size,  and the location. When you are connected online, one click will show you on Nokia Maps where the photo was taken.
  • Select and delete multiple photos in Gallery Grid
  • New reset button in Creative mode to change all the settings back to default with a single touch

As well as all those imaging enhancements, this software update will also enable you to use these new functions on your phone:

  • Updated browser (to version 8.3) with enhanced HTML5 support
  • New and significantly faster keyboard
  • Nokia Car Mode – easy access to your phone’s key features when you’re driving

Getting the update

Nokia 808 PureView

This software update is being rolled out globally from today, 2 October. However, there may be regional variations in the precise delivery due to country and operator variants. 

To check if the update is available for you and to install the update, connect the phone to your PC and open Nokia Suite, or alternatively check the Software Update application on your device.

The Nokia 603, Nokia 700 and Nokia 701 will also get an update that includes the features such as the faster browser and Nokia Car Mode.

However, the imaging and gallery enhancements are for the Nokia 808 PureView only.

    Great job on the update.
    I wish it was easier to organize photos in the 808 gallery. Being able to select multiple items for tags and sharing would be nice.

      That would be great… Belle refresh contains only new music player,browser and some bug fixes.. Please give us Lock screen and new Keyboard.. I think that can come up with our 1st gen hardware

    When will Nokia Panorama be available on my 808PV??? This is one app I’m missing badly after upgrading from N8.

      FP2 update through Nokia Suite failed with error code 12052. However OTA update was successful. No Panorama app yet.

          You can flash a dead Nokia using phoenix, Google how it can be done, it’s a straight forward process.

          The same thing happened to me. But now my 808 pureview is okay after having it repaired by nokia care center. After that i never attempted to re-update the OS of my 808 again. I was traumatized by it )

        Be sure to let the DSP encode full HD videos too. That currently crashes the app.
        Also you are bound to have the video edit functionality still available on every device that had it upon any update or initial release! ;-)

        Video Pro app doesn’t keep the sound on my device when editing a video, there also isn’t a option to add a soundtrack. Is this normal?

      same here..video pro missing…nokia music is not working..also, the inbuilt SW update app also doesn’t works..it keeps saying that can’t update, try again later..

    I got Lumia 800 and while I like it, I really miss Symbian. WP7.5 does not even support basic features such as selection of multiple photos and Bluetooth file transfer. I hope WP8 will be better.

    I was happy to see that there was an update available this morning in Software Update.

    However, I then went to back-up my 808′s data and settings on a computer, unplugged it, went back to Software Update, and the update has gone. What happened?

      try *#0000# and if that doesnt work try changing the date on your phone as i ve heard somewhere that it only checks once a day with nokia servers

        Thank you! It appears that it was indeed the once-a-day check issue getting in the way. My 808 is about half-way through the update now.

    I have 701 and all imaging features mentioned to be 808 only are present after update :) My sw version is 113.010.1506 (Belle FP2).

    Hmm, wonder if the focusing in Macro-mode will be easier? At least for now, I found N8 way better in this field. Sometimes it is extremely difficult to focus in Macro-mode, for example if there is a lake or sky behind the object.

        I know. It is still almost impossible. I should probably post a video of the issue. I know how 808 works. It just keeps focusing “off” the object, even if N8 “sees” the object without trouble. I also know the distances that should work on 808. The focus rectangle just keeps on going red, not green…

          Maybe you have the camera too close to the object. The N8 can go physically closer than the 808, but you can compensate on the 808 with the zoom. I own an N8 and 808, and I don’t seem to have any issue with macro on either :)

            yeah right, the minimum distance of 808 Pureview is 20 cm (can be more, depend on the lens condition).
            Try to keep distance, then use zoom in ;)

      i too have this question as I have received the 1506 firmware..also, some have received 12-13MB file size..mine was only 8.9MB..

    Can you please provide capability to delete the “Date” jpeg files? After I download the images from phone to computer the date jpg files cannot be deleted and it looks odd to have those date files with no images left on the device. I understand purpose of those files was to organize the photos by date when viewed in the gallery, but if somebody erases(downloads) the images from phone, these empty homes don’t serve any purpose.

      Go to File Manager (or you can do this when the 808 is connected to a computer), E:Mass Memory, Images, tagimages and delete the files there.

      There should probably be a simpler way of dealing with them though. But then I don’t quite understand why photos and videos taken with an 808 have to go into the DCIM folders instead of Images and Videos in the first place.

        Forgot to mention, that these files are not listed in File manager when connected to computer and cannot be deleted using file explorer on the phone.

    Nokia Music Store app is not working after FP2 update.when we tap on the Nokia Music Store icon, it shows the moving circle for a second and then nothing happens. My 808PV is only a month old.

      I have the same problem.
      Nokia Music Store not working.
      Also I have not the new video editor (when I edit a video I can only change the beginning or the end of the video.
      Also now, with FP2, is very difficult to activate the alphanumeric keyboard, because you can’t activate it from the keyboard, you must go to settings menu. Same problem with Swype, to activate you must go to the Swype app. I miss a settings key in the menu, or long pressing a key to activate the settings menu, where I could change to alphanumeric or swype keyboard.

      Another question, time ago, I made a hard reset and loosed bundled apps as games, music, etc.
      How can I reinstall them?

      In general I am very happy with the update, I have only these issues (and the gallery could have multiple selection of images for sending, etc or albums… but before with FP1 it was worse).

    Great update… If only it would install! :(

    My 808 thinks for a few seconds, and then… nothing.

    Any plans on fixing the music player so that we don’t have to scroll through every album of every artist? That would be a very welcome fix… :)

    My 808 is dropping 3G connections. This leads to missed calls and messages. I could switch to 2G, but that’s not a good workaround. This sucks.

      Let’s hope that is why they pulled it.. but .. probably not. I wonder how widespread the 3G connectivity issue really is..

        My assumption is the Nokia music store issue is the cause… that = possible direct money = FIX NOW

        3G issue = not that widespread and not as direct money, just respect and loyalty = meh, fix later if at all?

        Gotta look at Nokia from a business point of view these days ;)

    Okay, most of these updates I would have expected to be there from the start, since, I’ve already had them on my nokia n8, nevertheless they are welcomed – crossing my fingers hoping to get it tonight. Really been missing the car mode!!!

    The image gallery needs multiple selection not just to delete images, but to send them as well. It also needs a context menu “send via etc..)

    In fact.. everything that the gallery on the N8 had :)

    And why, pray tell, Nokia, can’t we use the Facebook touch website with Browser version 8.3? There is no chat real-time updates, often comments and wall posts/status updates are not displayed after posting until refreshing the page (same as with chat). We can’t even use chat websites like Omegle, for instance, which displays an unable to connect to server error. And you claim useless “Enhanced HTML5 support”. I have reported the same issues in Nokia support forums, getting only the robotized response that my internal phone memory and mass memory is low. I have tried re-updating my phone. And let’s not get into how the display goes white with the browser on some pages.

    Why the firmware of Nokia 603 of Taiwan is different from any other country in the world? I could not even update to FP1 with Nokia suite by myself, And this problem has been reported to Nokia customer service but they even didn’t know the answer and couldn’t solve my question.

    Nokia should fix this problem as soon as possible! Or I think I will buy iPhone 5 right after it launched in Taiwan market.

    does the fp2 decrease the camera quality ? because the pic taken with 808 are a bit of noisy and its very hard to focus.

    i updated my nokia 808 yesterday (athens,greece), via nokia pc suite (445mb) to v.113.010.1507. (belle fp2) and everything works fine! love the updated features, belle fp2 has nothing less than android and wp and in my opinion its so much better. NOKIA KEEP ON UPDATING SYMBIAN BELLE WE LOVE IT! -i would like in the music play -playlists- user to be able to change songs order just by touching the song to move it up or down in the list-

    Unfortunately Swype doesn’t work with this update, which is really very infuriating. Swype is the best way to input text, and worked like a charm with FP1, so quite why Nokia decided that Swype wouldn’t be integrated with FP2 I’m not sure.

    If Nokia wants to continue to get good feedback from 808 Pureview users, it needs to update the Swype app for this phone!
