Nokia launched the world’s most innovative smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 920, in New York just a few short weeks ago. Since then, consumers and onlookers have been wondering when the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 would be coming to the United States.

Today, AT&T announced that the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 will be part of its fall lineup of phones, arriving in November.

The Nokia Lumia 920 brings a lot to the table, starting with our amazing PureView imaging technology and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) for clear photos, even when your hands aren’t steady when taking the picture. Also, the PureView camera on the Lumia 920 lets in an amazing amount of light, allowing it to take bright and clear photos in low-light indoor conditions.

Nokia City Lens, the latest addition to Nokia’s suite of location apps, brings augmented reality to your Lumia 920. With Nokia City Lens you can use your smartphone to see inside the world around you and locate local facilities with ease.

The Nokia Lumia 920 has wireless charging built in, making it possible to charge up quickly and easily. Also, with cold temperatures about to set in, the super sensitive 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display will come in handy – allowing you to use the touch screen even with gloves on.

We’ve had tons of comments on Twitter and Facebook asking about a cyan Lumia 920. Well, we’re happy to be able to say that the Nokia Lumia 920 will come in many colors to AT&T including cyan, yellow, red, white and black.

The Lumia 820 also comes to AT&T

Joining its big brother on AT&T’s 4G LTE network is the stylish Lumia 820, showing the power of Windows Phone 8 on a large 4.3” OLED screen with ClearBlack display.

The Lumia 820 makes it possible to use interchangeable shells to add functionality and style to your phone, no matter what the situation calls for. In fact, the Lumia 820 also supports wireless charging via the charging shell.

Got a huge music collection, a vast picture library or feeling the need to bring a good collection on movies for an upcoming trip? You can add extra storage to the Nokia Lumia 820 via a Micro SD card, which comes in sizes up to 32 gigabytes.

The Lumia 820 will be available in black from AT&T in November with interchangeable wireless charging shells available in colors such as yellow, red, and cyan, black and white.

The new Lumia phones will be joined by a plethora of accessories such as the Nokia Wireless Charging Pad and Wireless Charging Stand, as well as the JBL PowerUp Wireless Charging Speaker.

At&T, Cyan, November… these are the important points…

    • http://conversations.nokia.com Ian Delaney

      correct!

      • bluechrism

It is also an important point to clarify if AT&T has either of these exclusively. Assumingly, you want as many people to buy this as possible and that means if it’s exclusive to AT&T and they are not AT&T and they are considering changing cariiers, the message has to be that they need to be on AT&T to get this, if it’s exclusive.

If it is coming to other carriers too, and that’s not announced yet, fine. AT&T’s website apparently says it’s exclusive. However, this article does not. Is AT&T correct in saying it’s exclusive, and if so, why are you not mentioning it here?

        • no_soul

Check Nokia’s site directly both the 920 and 820 state exclusive to ATT

          • bluechrism

            Thanks for the info.

I’m absolutely gutted. I would have bought either device (i was genuinely looking forward to getting my hands on the Lumia 820, the device i assumed wouldn’t be exclusive) but not with AT&T. Aside from my wife’s vendetta against the company, I’m in the first 6 months of a family plan and our 2 lines run about $75/month after taxes, etc – No way i can get close to that on AT&T.

AT&T simple is bad value, even if they do snag some great devices as exclusive.

But honestly, why are nokia doing exclusive when Samsung, Apple, HTC are broadening and getting variants to everyone.

For me, there will either be a HTC 8X in my future, or i’ll be importing an 820/920 unlocked and risking Nokia not supporting the warranty if it breaks.

          • no_soul

            @bluechrism
I actually am and ATT customer and even I agree this is a ridiculously STUPID move by Nokia. Verizon has how many customers again? T-Mobile has how many?…… Does Nokia really believe that customers like you who are obviously happy with your current carrier will switch to ATT just to boost sales of the Lumias.

They fail to realize that for every 100,000 sold on ATT, the possibility for equal or greater sales exist with other carriers as well. I guess they don’t need those sales. Who limits their breakout product that is so marveled by the world over to just 1 carrier in such a large country.

happy birthday, wife…love of my life. i got you a wonderful present because i love you… a brand new unlocked nokia lumia 920 in your favorite color.

    Price?

  • no_soul

    wait… what… no grey?
November is rather broad. AT&T typically releases new devised on Sundays so there’s the 4th, 11th, 18th or 25th… hoping it’s much closer to the 4th.

I’m curious to know will a factory unlocked version will be available in the US?

    • lindall

of course an unlocked version of the nokia lumia 920 will be available for presents to wives and girlfriends.

  • krishna

When it will be available in India..at least month???

  • Ed_Luva

I’m still a little irritated that there is not an available date. Why is Apple so much better at announcing and launching products?

    • no_soul

Agreed, I’m lost as to the point of hold an event just to say we will release this in November (1-30???) and ummmm will get back to you on the price. A coming soon spot on AT&T site would have sufficed since the bookie is till out on the official price.

  • stipe1906

Is it exclusive for AT&T ?

  • GoodThings2Life

This is wonderful news for my birthday!! :) Makes that long trek to New York for the launch worth every minute!! :D

    • GoodThings2Life

And yeah, I know people love the Cyan, but I still want the red one!

      • http://www.facebook.com/paul.a.katz2 Paul Aldige Katz

Yeah really :) I might opt for the yellow one myself (in 11 months)

  • small_mountain

How could you possibly have let AT&T have this phone exclusively? That is a horrifying decision, and I can only imagine you are so strapped for cash that AT&T dangling a little cash to make it exclusive carried the day. Where is the Dislike button? Samsung products will get a strong look from me now this Fall.

  • http://twitter.com/hasasimo SIMO

Where’s grey? Are you kidding? :(

The Grey Color should come, I saw it on Nokia’s site.

      • pdexter

It’s not coming. It’s not one of the announced colors on the press release.

Neither is gray coming to rest of the globe on launch if you guys have been following press releases.

        Don’t personally care about it.

The Nokia Lumia 920 Cyan is matte or glossy ?

    • http://mostlythis.com Mac Morrison

hard to tell from the photos (hope it’s matte)
that said my purity headphones are the gloss cyan and they look awesome.

      • http://mostlythis.com Mac Morrison

oh yes it is matte! thats me sold on that one then

    • NateB1982

Exactly what I want to know.

    • GoodThings2Life

I’m betting on glossy based on red and yellow, but fear not… I got hands on with the red and yellow at the NYC launch event and they were both VERY sharp looking AND didn’t seem like dirt/fingerprint magnets. I’m much more of a fan of matte finish, so you can believe I was checking! :)

Nokia, Do You Want the same “success” with this lumias, just as the 800/900 Exclusive?? Fail!!, , think diferently, Make them for all Carriers!

  • MobileServer

So disgusted and sick of the carrier exclusive!
Nokia, you need to do things in a brand new way instead of the old school way.
Look at the ugly carrier logo!

    • no_soul

I feel the same way. A product is introduced and gets all sorts of glorious reviews and widely accepted as a great product many can’t wait to get their hands on. Now Nokia signs a deal with AT&T and says screw off to the millions on other networks that want the phone.

I’m an ATT customer so I’m not affected by this but I still find it to be a rather stupid decision. Nokia wants/NEEEEEEEEEDS to sell as many of these as possible and somehow the way to do that is to say well if you want the 920 go to ATT, is there any thought to the fact that many Verizon, T-Mobile, etc… customers are quite fine with their current carriers and just wants the great device you manufactured. Sure there is always the 820 but even Nokia hasn’t marketed the 820 all that much so most are (well… WERE) looking forward to the 920.

I take my GF for example she has been dying for a reason to ditch her BB and she thought the 920 would be the phone to do that. She’s on T-Mobile so when she realizes she cant get the phone she really wants I’m sure she’ll just be [settleing] for a Samsung as she doesn’t want the HTC.

I’m guessing ATT claims that it was their exclusivity that propelled the iPhone to where it is now…. truth is if they are correct that they made it as popular as it is, well that idea is soooooooooooo 2007. Many iPhone users continued to wait until it became available on their networks and look what happened when it did. Samsung tend to release phones on all networks that want it and wouldn’t you believe it they outsell iPhones…. shocking… no, not at all just logical.

The smartest way to sell your devices is to make it available to as many potential customers as possible. Carrier locked for subsidies, and manufacturer unlocked for those who don’t mind paying the full till or like me who absolutely hate the look of the carrier logos on the phones.

Nokia knows how to make great phones just seem to have no idea how to sell them anymore. My current Nokia which admittedly is many years old was bought Direct from the Nokia store before it was moved to Amazon and the beauty of having this factory unlocked device, when I leave the country I just switch sim cards and I’m done I dont have to go to ATT and get some unlock code and blah blah, I also done have any bloatware on my phone only the things I want.

Common sense seems all but common on the decision to go carrier exclusive here… nothing seemed to have been learned from going exclusive with the 900 I gather.

      • lindall

you could buy your gf an unlocked nokia lumia 920. it would be a good present in the holiday spirit.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/Keith-Scott-Redden/100000071585191 Keith Scott Redden

          Yeah in 6 months …lol

      • DawidKaminski

OK first of all Apple and Samsung started with exclusive deals.. why? not because it was 2007, but rather they needed to build strong brand recognition (iphone, sII) and carrier exclusivity (read milions spent by carrier on marketing) help just to do that. You might be aware of new shiny Nokia coming – vast milions dont. If Nokia would go with everyone to bad, everyone (read carriers) would treat it like a b***h and no one would spent hard cash on promoting a phone that most people dont know it exists. After you’ve got a nice fanbase, just waiting (read looking forward) for new phone release then and only then you can afford to give it to as many carriers as possible, cause no big bucks need to be spent on something that is wanted

        • no_soul

Frankly I see the decision as an insult to their own product which speaks for itself and an insult to customers on other carriers for Nokia to believe the only way to sell their device is to go carrier exclusive. People were begging to have the Lumia 900′s on other carriers earlier this year, they were shut out by the ATT exclusive and to do the same thing again. I’m sorry but by now Nokia should be confident enough with it’s product to trust consumers to buy it. Going exclusive only pushes those that were hoping t get the device to move on to other choices.

        • addicusbrown

The media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter and various tech sites (wp central, pocketnow, engadget, verge, bgr, etc…) were not the strong presence as they currently are. The response to all 3 top tier Windows Phone 8′s has been great (Ativ S, 8x & 920), but the 920 has gotten Iphone and Galaxy S3 type of love in every forum except run of the mill, late to the party tv shows. I really believe the 920 had the opportunity to change the landscape of the mobile market and bring Windows Phone to the forefront of the general masses as a valid, top tier choice for a smartphone. That is gone with this ATT exclusivity deal. People aren’t changing carriers at a high rate for any phone anymore because the norm is you can find the Galaxy S3 on every carrier and the Iphone on 3 of the 4 and the 4th is actually reworking it’s spectrum to take advantage of people buying it unlocked. Today’s day and age says put it out to the masses in the U.S. market – especially when every one wants it. Being on TMobile I suspect my household to have a Samsung Ativ S and HTC 8x for my wife and myself come November.

          • DawidKaminski

True people not likely will change operator, and but that just in USA, and in Europe if i wouldn’t get it through my operator i would simply buy it and save few pounds by doing that.
We can’t say it’s stupid cause on one hand you, have got people who would take it but won’t because of that, and on the other hand most people is not aware about new nokia – and it would depend on the carrier salesman if he would like it therfore advised this phone over others or not, I personally think it’s a good decision as there’s more people unaware potential buyers than people who would buy it but wont

          • no_soul

I still disagree here… if they want more people to buy the phone they should make it available to more people. Being absent to the vast majority makes absolutely no sense in this day and age. There is only so much any sales rep can do to sway a customer without annoying them.

Customers on other carriers who do not know about the phone are more likely to be curious about it if they walk into their stores and see them. A T-Mobile customer is more unlikely to walk into an ATT store to stumble upon the Nokia and become curious about it than walking into their own carrier’s store and seeing it.

At this rate more people are likely to get consider the HTC the signature/hero/flagship of WP8 and I guess now I start to get why Ballmer did call the HTC the Hero/Signature. How can you be the flagship of the platform with limited reach? How can you compete in such a limited arena?

If you want your flagship to sell, you sell it everywhere.

The only excuse for this has to be the the other carriers did not want to carry the phone and I highly doubt that.

Its definitely a limited time exclusive. It will be coming to Verizon soon

      • http://twitter.com/turbogeek09 NDK

you are right, that is the reason why apple iphone doesn’t have the ugly carrier logo on the phone, why can’t nokia do that?

This [deleted] sucks, but I get the feeling Nokia has very little control over it. Regardless, I’m very disappointed and carrier suckage is little consolation.

Nokia you cannot succeed in America with carrier exclusives. Look at Apple and Samsung, they do not tolerate exclusives for the iPhone or Galaxy S. The 920 will never be a success if you keep bowing to AT&T. And they won’t even sell the colored versions of the Lumia in stores so the Lumia will look just like any other black or white slab. AT&T is a terrible partner, please stop giving them exclusives!!!!!

      ^^^^Truth.

I don’t understand the religious devotion to a carrier. None of them are worth it, in my opinion. They all suck. I’ve been with so many carriers over the years and contrary to the commercials, I get similar coverage with them all and the same crappy customer service with them all. I’ve been with AT&T for a bit now because they have the hardware that I want. If they didn’t, I’d certainly look at moving along.

Beyond that fact, no one has considered that Nokia needs the marketing help. If the same phone is available everywhere, they won’t get that marketing help. iPhone doesn’t need it anymore, but remember when they did? People can start focusing anger at the carrier (ie Verizon) for not striking a deal, but since they seem to have more loyalty for the service service provider, they can’t fathom that the omnipotent wireless signal sender could possibly be at fault.

Att is obviously the best carrier out there, first with iphone, first with 3d phone, first with Note, now first with lumia. When will you guys learn and just make the switch.. i was with both verizon and Sprint and Att is better. Hands down.

I don’t understand the logic behind carrier exclusivity. I am very disappointed!!!

    • Harry_Wild

It was explained by one of the mobile phone experts that Nokia found that out on the 900 model – that AT&T would push it better if it were exclusive; as oppose to the 800 which was available to pretty much all U.S. carriers and still sold poorly! I guess Nokia felt that the 900 was a success give the announcment that it was not going to be upgradable to the WP8 OS and it still sold after that too. I think it mentioned 2 million units.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Wasiu-Adedapo-Lawal/1076053899 Wasiu Adedapo Lawal

Not happy about this at all….I was hoping that T-Mobile will at least get one of the 2….like the 710.That doesn’t make much sense.

    • addicusbrown

Looking at the HTC Radar and Nokia 710 was a slap in face as I watched AT&T get the Titan, Titan II and Lumia 900. HTC is rectifying their mistake by bringing the 8x, but Nokia is basically calling TMobile dog poop.

  • Luca

Simple question: will the cyan be an exclusive og At&t or will it be available also in the rest of the world? :)

well nokia just effectively rammed a pole up there rear cuz itz not gona sell on one carrier. good luck

    • iTruth

I guess they think people are going to ditch their iphones and GS3 and join AT&T….not so Nokia!

It looks like Nokia is digging its own grave. Maybe Microsoft will buy it and bring back to where it used to be with the right people at the helm.

      • http://twitter.com/capricotwi04 Caprico

Ehm… just think again about how your post doesn’t make any sense. Because of Microsoft, Nokia is doing so bad! Before they had Windows Phone, Nokia used to be without doubt the leader in worldwide smartphone sells. Windows Phone is an exclusive bad product, which only sells because it’s wrapped in into beautiful Nokia hardware.

It is sad that in the US the free market doesn’t exist. But T-Mobile will have alternatives. Have a look at the HTC 8x – it has the same bad OS and looks almost as great as Lumia 920, a true alternative.

  • johnboy66

So, it seems we are about the get possibly the
best new WinPhone 8 in the Lumia 920…but it will be exclusive to the
WORST phone service in the world ATT…Why is that. Putting the BEST
phone on the WORST service. Stop the nonsense. When will it be on
    Verizon and unlocked.

    • http://twitter.com/dalydose Jeff Daly

I think “worst” is subjective, even if you write it in all caps. I’ve been on many carriers and they all do a pretty good job of swift air intake. This loyalty to carriers seems illogical to me. They are all crooks and all want your money. It would be better for everyone involved if people switched every now and then. They all suck now b/c they’re done competing. If the churn rate goes up, the service levels of the carriers will increase. Guaranteed.

  • johnboy66

    Exclusive to ATT….WT….F

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1059077516 Brian Evans

Can’t even begin to express my disappointment with another phone maker offering an exclusive deal. The US mobile phone market is a sham! Untether the carrier from the phone. I’ve been holding off in replacing my phone in anticipation of Nokia putting out some great Windows phones…. I’m on Verizon and like Verizon and have no desire to switch to ATT. So unless Nokia/Verizon decide to release information indicating Lumia variants being offered for Verizon, Nokia you may have lost my business. I’ll either be buying another HTC phone running Windows or give Apple a second look.

  • dhavalpatel

Whats up with the AT&T logo? I hate the logo on my 900 an am hating it on the 920. Even though I am an AT&T customer I was planning to buy 920 unlocked. Are you planning to sell the unlocked version in the US?

  • Prodigy1

Nokia, carrier exclusivities does not give you success. You should know by now. Disappointing, that is. How is HTC able to do so much better with carriers, I don’t get it?

  • http://twitter.com/synysterdragon Juan Rodriguez

Once again, screwed out of the phone I want by an exclusivity deal. Guess I’ll just get the HTC 8X when I replace my lumia 710 in the next few months.

Well goodbye Nokia, you made great phones, but making the 920 and 820 exclusive on AT&T will be your downfall unless they offered a whole lot of money. Maybe MS will buy you after you declare bankruptcy and do it right.

You are talking about USA like it’s the only market in world.

Lumia 920 will be exclusive in China for 600 million people with China Mobile. HTC has no single phone via them.
Also rest of the world does not have these problems like you in USA and China have with locked carriers.

You system sucks and is similar to the European carriers back in 90′s.

  • http://www.facebook.com/rajeev.dinakaran Rajeev Dinakaran

I know Nokia doesnt care about whether they survive or not but as a share holder, i hope and pleed, pls release 920 in Verizon. HTC is going to make a big kill with the look and feel of Lumia and colors with no lumia 920 around. Every body wants to buy lumia 920 and not lumia 820.
Pls consider. Pls dont commit suicide and take us along with that.

  • Shyatic

No Verizon? WTF is wrong with you guys?

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=102500482 Joel Shuflin

I can’t believe some of you people! Look, the 920 and 820 are Pentaband — which means they’ll work on ATT AND Tmobile. Just get an unlocked phone, and work toward freeing yourself from the 2year renewal trap. Get an unlocked phone and use it on Tmobile… in fact, use it on ANY GSM carrier.

I’m sure that, like the iPHone, Lumias will be @ verizon in about 12-18 months.

    • addicusbrown

Joel your point is valid, but not all inclusive Not every one wants to put out the amount of money it takes to get a phone off contract. When we had no children I dropped $500 down for phones off contract all day and had not guilt. Now my money is invested differently and no way can I justify dropping $1000-1200 for two phones in my own mind and feel like I’m doing everything possible to build a great future for my children. I’m just built that way. Also, I’m not a upgrade every two years guy. We have been off contract for over 1 year waiting for the right hardware/software to move on to. I was thinking it would be the 920 but that isn’t happening. I’ll move on, like many others and Nokia misses out on the immediate 2 customers and the numerous others we would bring, because we spread the word on products we enjoy. Most of all – I refuse to pay over exuberant prices for mobile data that is throttled and maxed out. My carrier has unlimited 4G (soon to be wide spread LTE) at a price less than what AT&T gives 5gb for.

  • Lithon

    Nokia, grey Lumia please?

  • ale91g

    I don’t live the US so I’ll pick the 920 off-contract. If the cyan 920 has a matte finish I’m SOLD! :)

  • bummaboi09

Would there be an unlocked version? I hate the at&t logo on the screen… Actually, I hate the at&t logo on my Lumia 900.

  • kyle

Why would you do this NOKIA??? As an investor and somebody who really wants a lumia 920, I find this incredibly stupid. I will probably end up buying an iphone now. Such a shame that you are alienating so many potential customers for an exclusive deal with a company that nobody likes.

Be clear, tell people if this is a short term exclusivity or if you will release a similar phone for verizon etc.

Its just one stupid move after another. No wonder the company is in the state that it is.

  • Madhu Surapaneni

That logo is telling me that AT&T is indeed stealing my wireless charger and ear phones and delaying WP updates. Bad Nokia, bad!

  • C18

Nokia, I’ll pay you the full $600 to have this without an AT&T contract.

  • http://www.facebook.com/th3asianator Eric Johnston

Terrible, terrible move. Verizon… please, its your last hope. an exclusivity deal destroys your potential buyers, and with profits like yours? you need as many buyers as you can get.

  • no_soul

So Nokia’s website no longer says “exclusive” for the 820. Still says from ATT however so maybe coming to other carriers sooner that the 920 I guess.

  • Jamieson Dean

This is great news Nokia – Please please PLEASE don’t let this be an exclusive! The rest of the world is pining for a Cyan 920. I’m looking at an outright purchase, please give us this option!

  • Dalascby

I would call for the resignation of the CEO immediately. I’ve been in the tech industry for 25 years, I’ve seen few decisions as poorly thought out as this one. Stephen Eloph now moves ahead of Reed Hastings (Neflix) for the dumbest move in tech in recent history. Nokia won’t put a dent in the marketshare war with it’s competition with an exclusive deal. Not to mention pissing off millions of potential customers. It’s no wonder that Nokia’s stock price is where it is, the brass is asleep at the wheel.

  • http://www.facebook.com/neilbey Neil Beytagh

I think it is terrible you are exclusive to AT&T. As much as I want this phone, I would rather buy the phone outright and keep it as a non functioning phone than sign another two year death sentence with AT&T. I know in Finland, At&t may seem all shiny and cool, but trust me, they are just awful… Really really awful…

  • http://goo.gl/EZfRQ Enterprise Mobile Hub

Both Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 are nice but I prefer BlackBerry Smartphones.

  • http://www.facebook.com/hawknz Eugene Hawkins

Who cares what carrier it is, just go out and buy it for CASH. And if you dont have the money then you shouldnt be buying top of the line mobile phone.

  • riopato

This is the ultimately the stupidest move into bring your flagship phone into the US market. It’s as if Nokia wants to fail here, while HTC and Samsung continue to dominate on 2 platforms. It’s no wonder Nokia will never regain their status here!

  • tekwarrior

Unless the rumors are true that there are Lumia 922 and 822 for the rest of the world and other carriers, it would be a big disappointment.

  • Ed_Luva

Nokia is dead meat. WP has 3% of the market. Nokia is loss-making with four Lumias currently for sale (610, 710, 800, 900) and they expect that selling their single flagship (plus one other) through a single carrier will improve their market performance? No way! Oh, and remember the competitive landscape includes iPhone, Galaxy Note II, and other HTC/Samsung WP devices.

The silver lining is that EFlop is sure to be fired by end of Q1 2013. Maybe his replacement will launch the 920 in WP and Android variants, as well as on all carriers, like industry-leading OEMs do.

  • Helios

Common Nokia, I’m not at all getting your strategy… You make a great phone and now you say that I cannot use it because I belong to a different network. Lumia 800 didn’t succeed not because you didn’t have carrier exclusives, but because it didn’t have anything to put it ahead of android or iPhone in functionality. Now, you make such a good phone/ comeback and make yourself lame with this carrier exclusivity.

  • dissatisfied

What the FUCK are you thinking? Are you thinking? Are you thinking “We want to sell our flagship phone to 20% of the market. The other 80% can get lost.”? That’s what I’m hearing. I was going to purchase one. I will not be switching to AT&T.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/Keith-Scott-Redden/100000071585191 Keith Scott Redden

Yeah I bet that’s what the CEO of a multibillion dollar corp. was thinking. Exclusivity has nothing to do with customers.. its a corporate maneuver to build alliances and punish the other carriers.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Ajil-Philip/1366882224 Ajil Philip

Im a T-mobile user and was waiting for the 920 to upgrade from my beat up LG Quantum. Thank you for shafting us. The HTC gets my money. Unless the 920 comes in at a reasonable price unlocked which works on Tmo HSPA

  • hyperhyper

Just found out that the Lumia 920 is tied to Rogers in Canada. Another carrier exclusivity deal. The forums in Canadian circles are alight with disappointment because Rogers is extremely disliked (hated would be a better word) in Canada (bad customer support, 3 year contracts, extremely high prices, hidden fees, misleading ads, etc…).

I was seriously looking at buying the Lumia 920 but I’m with a different carrier and I refuse to pay $60/month more for my monthly billing fees so I can have the ‘option’ of buying this phone.

You need people to preach about your products and the people who want
this product in particular would make excellent representatives as they would be knowledgeable and influential within their circles. And yet, you choose to limit the number of people who can have access to this phone.

I don’t know why your company company chose to go down this road but I personally think that they should be demoted or let go because You just lost a LOT of sales (including mine) and doomed your footprint in North America with these 2 deals.

Think I’m lying? Head to the forums (Mobile Syrup is one of them) and read the comments and you will see that my comment is pretty tame in comparison. I really wanted to switch to this phone but you obviously are not serious about getting back into the game if you are continuing with sales tactics from 10 years ago. The market has changed, adapt or become a memory.

  • Mythos88

Now it’s the same thing on Rogers–they get the 920 exclusively in Canada while every carrier gets the iPhone and the Samsung Galaxy SG3. It’s a really, really bizarre strategy Nokia is going with here.

  • http://www.facebook.com/gmiguel83 Jorge Miguel

Clearly some people are not willing to switch carriers. I hope other carriers (across the world) get this super-phone too.

  • henreeG

Why Nokia? Bad move! Fire the person that suggested this “exclusive deal” cause you just lost a lot of people wanting a Nokia Lumia.

  • http://www.facebook.com/brian.anderson.9 Brian Anderson

I don’t see anywhere that it says that this is an exclusive, but if it is goodbye Nokia…..

  • William Grafton

I am a bit disappointed. You got the exclusive with AT&T last spring for the Lumia 900 and they didn’t push it nearly as much as the hardware deserved. As a sample run, I went and asked at 3 different AT&T stores about the Lumia 900. They said they had it in stock, but would recommend waiting for the iPhone 5 or the HTC One. I don’t know what they promised, but I sure as hell hope they get behind this device. I hope you get the marketing you’re paying for. I’m an AT&T subscriber, so I’ll get the phone. I’ve been looking forward to it since 9/5, but if I were on Verizon I’d be a little hacked off, but I’d probably still buy the 822.

  • http://www.themobilefanatics.com Mike Macias

People – stop crying about exclusivity. Verizon and T- Mobile haven’t announced their lineup yet… I don’t think Nokia is done here.

But if Nokia only offers the 920 equivalent on AT&T – I’ll be let down as well.

  • EA

Nokia, please get the Grey back! Really was looking forward on having the Grey color as it really stood out in my eyes rather than the Cyan.

  • frankwick

    1. I. am an att customer so this. is good. news for me. can’t wait to drop this stupid. android with stupid. keyboard. but what is the point of carrier exclusivity?

    2. why isn’t there a metallic orange option for. the 920?

  • kemite2

Seriously, the next time Elop does an interview, I want the interviewer to sit down calmy, look him right in the eye, and in a professional manner ask him, “Mr. Elop, what the fuck is wrong with you?”

  • http://www.facebook.com/jeannette.mickey Jeannette Mickey

where do u get unlocked Nokias’ 920?

  • justd80010

Carrier exclusives suck… that said, Sprint just lost a customer and ATT just gained one.

  • Dick Tracy

Whoever is running the show at Nokia is RETARDED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Why isn’t this phone on multiple carriers? The Lumia 900 Failed with AT&T, & I hate to say it, but the Lumia 920 will FAIL!! as well with AT&T. I really wanted to purchase this phone, but AT&T killed that. Iphone sold 5 million on its release. Nokia get it together already!

  • Michal Gawecki

I’m so angry that the Lumia will be on At&t I would not switch to them even if they paid me! At least I’m happy to see HTC beeing on all the networks and I hope the Samsung will do the same thing. Although Lumia 920 would be my preference. O!h well they lost a sale!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=652170708 Robins Tomar

When are you launching this in India? I have been waiting for this 3 months now and Samsung is launching 2-3 phone each month with very tempting pricing. Believe me, One fine day I will wake up in the morning and buy Samsung!!

  • http://twitter.com/yalnte yalnte

Tip-top, high class, hard working, solid build, Swype interface, message pane – no not the Lumia – the Nokia N9.

  • sp3ncer

No FM radio in Windows Phone 8? T_T

  • Madhu Surapaneni

As an investor I would say this

Set the price for 920 around $199. Nothing less. Premium products need to be priced premium as well! Otherwise they may look cheap(in quality too).

  • Madhu Surapaneni

    About carrier exclusivity…

Unlike Apple, I believe Nokia has a great IP on both NFC and wirelesscharging. Nokia should really push this technology into customers, so that competetors like Apple and Samsung will have to catch up and license this technology from you. For this to happen, you need to sell as many 920s as possible and not limit itself by carrier exclusivity.

Do you at least make extra cash by being exclusive?

  • Madhu Surapaneni

Elop should go! He didn’t have the slightest idea during the previuos quarter about drop in demand for feature phones and accused competetion for being competetive. No plan B on Windows Phone strategy. No plan B for potential threat of Surface Phone.

There seem to be no light at the end of the tunnel!

    • Harry_Wild

I am a shareholder to of Nokia; but in regard to Microsoft’s Surface Phone – it will be sold only through Microsoft – online or stores. Nokia works through the carriers. So it is a threat but a minor one. HTC is a bigger threat to Nokia right now. It came as a compete shock to see Balmer and Chou together in the HTC get together! I thought Nokia was their premier partner in WP but appeally; Microsoft decided otherwise.

  • Harry_Wild

I am searching for an international version unlocked 920 to buy! But I heard that they international version leaves out some of the frequencies that some U.S. carriers use; just to make sure AT&T would be exclusive. Is that true? Does the Nokia 920 come in an unlocked U.S. version too? Where can you buy it from? Thanks.

  • http://twitter.com/capricotwi04 Caprico

Nokia, Nokia… the US market is a market you can forget about. Look how much world-wide market share you had without the US market (and without Windows Phone) – and now that you focus on that corrupted market your world dominance has already disappeared by a maximum. Furthermore you chose the US’ no 1 rip-off carrier…good luck!

  • NOKH8ER

You guys couldn’t run a slot machine that never pays out. What a bunch of brainless idiots. I’ve been a shareholder & a consumer waiting for you guys to get it right, but every single turn it is another massively stupid decision by management. The last straw has finally landed on the camels back, I guess I will be enjoying a samsung or apple product.

  • http://twitter.com/JoshMattox Josh Mattox

TERRIBLE DECISION! Flagship phone is exclusive to AT&T?!?

Glad I sold all of my Nokia stock last month.

Others already pointed out the “exclusivity” deal w/ the 900 series failed. Want to be successful? Fire your marketing director and hire me. I’ll prevent this endeavor from sinking with the failboat.

  • suedepuma

why is the samsung G3 so popular? it is because it is everywhere. this exclusive thing has to go! There is no way I can change carriers.
this is nuts. so, another nokia product wont get wide spread acceptance!
    Please put this on Verizon!!!!!

  • trgnoobie

NEWS FLASH: Nokia Lumia 810 announced for T-Mobile.

The 810 comes with 1.2 MP front-facing camera, compared to the 820′s VGA camera.

  • http://twitter.com/igorpaes Igor Paes (KLaRK)

I’ll be in New York on November 20 and the Nokia Lumia 920 will not being sold unlocked?

  • TD

In Canada 920 is a Rogers exclusive and only available in Black, this is kinda rich considering Nokia was mocking Apple about it’s boring black and white in an AD. Lets hope HTC offers colors in Canada, otherwise so much for the WP8 dream, I will upgrade from my iPhone 4 to an Android probably S3 or Note 2 in Q4.

  • tecnfan

I also hate 920′s exclusive to ATT, bad move, but if you really want it go Ebay and get for whole price..just like I’ll do it.

  • tecnfan

I’m just hoping NOKIA give us an answer to this deal.

  • Brian Lancaster

I was waiting for this phone to come out then I heard it was on AT&T only and Nokia just shot themself in the foot. Boo on you Nokia

  • ntphinne

Was waiting for the 920 after being very happy with E71. But my mail for exchange crashed and I can no longer download the software from Nokia Store. Since I use this in my work, I need to get a new device immediately. But the 920 is not an option as I can’t go a month w/o email. Frustrated about this.

Cannot find the slate grey 920 anywhere. But it is in all the reviews however. That is the only color I want! Man, this is a “killer” seen it in the videos and photos and it not offerred at least not by AT&T!
