  1. Press the Search button on your Nokia Lumia and then tap Vision
  2. Scan the QR code
  3. Tap on the link when it appears on the screen
  4. Install the application from the Windows Phone Marketplace

While the games are available for all Windows Phone users, lucky Nokia Lumia users will be able to download the apps for free, for the next two months.

Draw Something is a social drawing game. You’re given a word for your friends to guess, through the medium of a finger-drawn sketch on your Lumia’s screen. It can be played co-operatively with friends, or competitively with rivals. Features include push notifications and colour packs which turn simple doodles into rich masterpieces. So far, the hit game has produced 7bn drawings across the world, and now Lumia owners can join the fun. So start drawing and get your inner artist out!

Words with Friends is a social word game in which you challenge friends, or strangers, to create better words than you on a square grid. In-game chat messaging allows players to easily keep in touch. You are probably quite familiar with the basics of the format. But you get a triple-word score bonus for spelling ‘L-U-M-I-A’ (not really, we’re afraid).

There’s little more to say here. They’re great, world-famous games with millions of players. And they’re free for Nokia Lumia users only a limited time, so grab your copies now and let us know what you think of these titles in the comments.

The other way to find them on your phone is to follow any of the ‘More from Nokia’ links in the descriptions of the apps in the Nokia Collection. I guess that area will be updated as soon as possible.

It didn’t show up under the More from Nokia links as well and with the QR code, it tells me that the apps are not available for my device, which is a Lumia 800 for Malaysia.

I’m using a Lumia 800 and was able to download both of the games just fine. I run a search on WP Store on my phone to find them.

Are you kinding ??? This game is heavily bugged… it’s lag, crash… it’s far far away from iOS or Android. I’m very disappointed ! WP will never launch with such low quality games !

I couldn’t agree more. I even bought it thinking the paid version would be more stable. I’m deeply disapointed.

    Happy with Lumia Promises !
But, what about WP 7.8 update for Lumia Lovers ???

quite pleased at the work Nokia is doing to bring new experiences to the windows phone ecosystem; however, the gradient controls, excessive menu bars, rounded corner buttons are hallmarks of iOS and not essential to the draw something graphics or brand that could have easily been updated to provide a consistent and unique experience for windows phone. Nokia has said it wishes to distinguish and differentiate. I really really wish Nokia would have done more to bring an improved, unique, and reimagined experience to windows phone for these games.

The games and their development are entirely down to Zynga, not Nokia.

Draw Something is horribly buggy. I’m stuck in a circle with a game and it won’t go forward to next round, UI controls don’t give me any option to stop the game and start over. Zynga should re-write the UI for this game on Windows Phone as it looks like a chinsy iOS port.

    • Francois Magny

      I’m experiencing the same issue.

Could you guys consider releasing a Screen Orientation Lock and Screenshot App?

    These
are basic features that Microsoft forgot to implement because they were
all busy with the Smartglass App that just came out and everyone was
    just super excited!!!

I know that these apps are possible, some
apps on marketplace have their own screenshot feature. On developer
unlocked phones they can lock screen orientation.

Thank you for your continued Lumia support .

Screenshots are built into the OS in WP8. On WP7 you need a developer unlocked phone to side load a screenshot app. The screenshots work so good in WP8!

Hey, I love Nokia… so I wanted to ask, do you all have any big, muscular employees… and some baseball or cricket bats? Can I ask those employee to take those bats and head over to the Zynga people and beat them senseless for giving us such buggy, horrible ports? BOTH Draw Something and Words With Friends have so MANY issues, its insulting. No worries Nokia, I don’t blame you, I blame flash-in-the-pan Zynga.
