As introduced back in August, Welcome Home for Windows Phone makes moving to Nokia Lumia super easy. Just load this application on your computer (it doesn’t matter if you’re on a PC or a Mac – it works with both) and plug in your old phone.

In a few guided steps, all your crucial content is pulled off your old phone and imported into to your Nokia Lumia.  Whether your old phone was an iPhone, a BlackBerry or an Android device, Welcome Home makes your new Lumia phone feel like, well, home.

Today we’re glad to inform you that Welcome Home for Windows Phone has been updated for the brand new Lumia phones that are running Windows Phone 8, which include the Nokia Lumia 920, Lumia 820, Lumia 822 and Lumia 810.

Markspace, the company behind Welcome Home for Windows Phone have made this app drop-dead simple to use. Just plug in your new Lumia and the application copies over your contacts, calendars, videos, photos and music from your old iPhone, BlackBerry or Android phone.

Using the application is relatively easy – just plug in your device and use the onscreen prompts to move data off your old phone and import it into your lovely new Lumia.

Let’s walk through the app via screenshots below and see how it works firsthand in the following gallery.

What about moving from Symbian, or Nokia Belle as it is now called? I’d love to #switchtolumia but it would be a hassle…

This is cool and I’ve made mention of it to a couple of people who are switching to Lumia from iPhone and Android. The strange part is that I still have to do everything manually and I’m coming from a Lumia 900 to a Lumia 920. It would have been great to include your own devices in this great upgrade tool.

This app is a good idea, just wish it supported WP7

Switch to app is a great idea, just a shame you forgot all your current users with not including Nokia Belle or older symbian users. I’ve switched! and sure more would if it was easy with an app.

Hi Jon- You and other Symbian users can use Nokia Suite to make the Switch to Lumia. In addition, the app Transfer My Data available on WP8 devices can also make the Switch easier.

Why cant it copy my texts?

Nokia should swallow their pride and join the Android trend. That is the only way they will bounce back to the competition. The earlier the better!!!

      Hell no.

Nokia should stop dumping the other OSes like MEEGO..dont see a problem with dual BOOTING

and who will make apps for Meego, you?

Going Windows Phone was the best way from a marketing point of view. Allowed Nokia to concentrate in making good phones while Microsoft concentrates in making the software.

But fanboys don’t see it that way.

    Hello,
I broke my iPhone but I made a backup(sync) with iTunes just before. I now have a Nokia Lumia 820 with Windows Phone 8 and I would like to use “Welcome Home” to recovery all the data from iTunes’s backup.
But the software asks at step one to connect my old iPhone, what I can’t do because it is broken! I couldn’t find any way to jump that step to go to the step where you choose the iTunes last synchronisation to go on with the Welcome Home synchronisation.
Do you know what I can do to go further?
    Thanks a lot, Thomas.

What happens when Windows 9 comes out? Will there be a $100 upgrade fee?
