The 7 signs you’re a Nokia Lumia 920 lover

Ever wondered what owners of the world's most innovative smartphone have in common?

Nokia Lumia 920 lover 1

If you’re lucky enough to own a Nokia Lumia 920, you’ll remember the feeling of childlike glee when you slid open the box and unwrapped the sleek slab of smartphone awesomeness. Regardless of whether you’re a skateboarder in the Bronx, a film maker in Manchester or a hairdresser in Helsinki, that’s a special moment we all shared. But what else do Nokia Lumia 920 lovers have in common? We conducted a very unscientific survey to find out.

We dare to be different

We’re incredibly lucky to live in a time of amazing technological innovation. This is especially true when it comes to smartphones. Yet for all the advances, some smartphones seem, well, let’s be honest, a little dull. Whether it’s staid design or an OS that looks the same as it did five years ago, for Nokia Lumia 920 lovers predictable equals boring. We want to be dazzled. We want to be wowed. We want Lumia lushness.

Nokia Lumia 920

We want the easy life

Gartner predicts that in 2013 a staggering 1.2 billion tablets and smartphones will be sold. This year we bought an estimated 821 million of these devices. Add to that PCs, laptops and game consoles and our lives are more connected on more devices that at any time in history. The Nokia Lumia 920 is part of a unique ecosystem of devices, from the Xbox to Windows 8 laptops, which share the same software. Having one makes life much more fun and work so much easier.

We love living in the future

You don’t have to be a geek or a tech head to relish the magic of innovation. Charging your phone with a tap, beaming your photos onto a friend’s computer screen, enjoying blur free videos. All these ingenious ideas made real in both the Nokia Lumia 920’s hardware and Nokia apps give us a special insight into the wonders of tomorrow’s world.

We crave the creative

About 20 percent of all photos taken this year will end up on Facebook. Facebook’s library already has 140 billion photos, which is 10,000 times that of the Library of Congress and 4 percent of all the photos ever taken. The simple fact is we love taking and sharing great photos and video. Nokia Lumia 920 lovers love it more than most. And thanks to PureView technology, Carl Zeiss lens and Optical Image Stabilisation, we get to share the very best.

We enjoy being super sociable

With the amount of cool stuff we can do with our smartphones it’s easy to forget that their original purpose was to keep us connected. Nowadays, there’s are a bundle of ways to do that and, thanks to the People Hub, the Nokia Lumia 920 has them all nailed. What this means in practice is that being super sociable is easier then ever.

We get a kick out of music

Frank Zappa once said “Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid.” We might not be rocks gods, but most Nokia Lumia 920 lovers would probably agree with his wise words. Thanks to Nokia Music, we get the chance to listen to cool new tunes, whenever and wherever. And with Nokia Gear partnering with music pros like Monster for headsets and JBL for speakers, we get to listen to them in style.

We dig daring design

You only have to hold the Nokia Lumia 920 in your hand to know what great design feels like. The balance of form and function is something that is difficult to get right. Yet when they come together properly the result can be astounding. It’s no surprise then that the Nokia Lumia 920 has scooped up a ton of awards or that it’s so damn difficult to put down.

How do these characteristics sound to you? Do you recognize yourself or is there another trait you think us Nokia Lumia 920 lovers share? As ever, we’d love to hear your thoughts down below.

I have the 7 signs but fail on the eighth,
we have money enough to buy it

…? I never understood this argument. A smartphone is something you’ll likely be using for the next two years, and are paying between $60 and $100 each month to use. Why does that initial cost of $100-$200 matter much?

      • http://twitter.com/AdmiralBrent Brent Van Kersavond

        I paid $350 but pay around $5 / month

      • Dimitrios-Jimmy Seymour

I agree Benjin. It’s definitely an investment. But $5 a month is unbelievable!

  • harley meekins

Haha I have all 7 signs, AND have the money to buy it, bought it, and loving it :P

Same here. Scarily accurate :) For me number 8 is being pissed at Apple stuff breaking so easily, two smashed iphones, one broken Macbook, one failed MacBook Air after just 8 months. Tired of being taken for a fool. And very, very happy to change my ferrari red 920 is faaaantastic :)

  • drewkdeer

You didn’t return it and buy an iPhone after Nokia seriously let you down on the update. Can’t say this will still be true by February 2013 though.

  • mafranklin

I upgraded for $100 with AT&T and had all 7 signs after discarding a rotten apple! Luv’d it until all signs of the phone disappeared from Find My Phone after it was stolen while I was tending two nephews at museum. …waiting 2 years for the next upgrade on AT&T. Grumble-1, Grumble-2, Grumble-3, Grumble-4, Grumble-5, Grumble-6, Grumble-7.

Love most things about the Nokia Lumia 920 – without a doubt the best Windows Phone 8 on the market at the moment.

  • Harold Gardner

A few months ago, I would not have considered a Nokia despite my good experience a few years ago with a great Nokia phone. I also would not have thought that Microsoft had a chance. Now I have to admit you guys are in the running.

the best Windows Phone 8 on the market at the moment

Funny isin’t the smarter we become in communications around the world the dumber we become at communication over the kitchen or dinning room table. Or to watch the young people and now starting to become the oldies as well, all sit around a star bucks table having a coffee and all on the phones communicating around the world but not with the people they are out with ……… I thing the future is the google glasses, viewing people via electronics and talking with them and others at the same time via our eyes and forget how to talk all together.. i wonder if that is the smart thing to do…… thanks for the update

The phone looks pretty cool, but I’d like to get a phone from Nokia which supports Android.

  • http://www.justinwheeler.net Justin Wheeler

Definitely tempted by one of these. Having said that I am in no rush so I might wait for the Nokia 1020!

Someone mentioned that there was a lag on taking photos on one of the numerous reviews I read. No idea if that is the case or not?

Also can I plugin in an external mic to the headphone Jack?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=628536960 Muhammad Waleed Malik

Most of the lag is actually not lag. Taking photos at night keep the shutter open for a long time allowing as much as light into the sensor. This creates the feeling of having lag… Taking photos during the day time is fine actually…

        Thanks Muhammad!

Having the strength to carry it around for extended phone calls ;) It’s a heavy device but I still love it.

    • http://twitter.com/EasycapExpertti EasycapExpertti

Are You still comparing it to iPhone 5? iPhone 5 feels like a toy if You hold it in Your hand and Nokia Lumia 920 feels like a premium phone.

What means smaller size and lower weight of iPhone 5 vs Nokia Lumia 920′s size? 1) Smaller screen 2) No HAAC (High Amplitude Audio Capture) microphones 3) No Optical image stabilisation 4) No NFC 5) No USB 6) No integrated wireless charging 7) Aluminium cover get broken easier than heavier polycarbonate cover – polycarbonate is used for example a bulletproof windows

I’ve had my Lumia 920 for six weeks now and have enjoyed every moment with it. Having had Android for two years before that and having also tried iOS, I feel Windows Phone 8 is the best of the lot, but goes even better with such a great smartphone.

  • abdhoms

Lumia 920 is great. Just that I don’t have it. :( Nokia could give me one, probably? :(

  • mojo706

No money here! :( Still I have all the signs :(

  • Akuma

  • http://www.laceysnr.com/ Matt Lacey

Got my mitts on one after two years of Android devices and I’m never going back. Nokia are back at the top of their game wit this thing and WP8 is a thing of beauty.

Hands down the best phone I’ve ever owned.

  • SK

Lumia 920 is too big in all 3 axes to be considered the ‘perfect phone’.

Please make your next flagship a 4.0″, Nokia… Great design always start with ergonomics.
