2012 – a bold year

When I think about this year, there is one word that comes to mind to best describe it: bold!

2012 - a bold year

In January, we brought Lumia to the US by launching Nokia Lumia 900 at CES, followed by the unforgettable Nokia 808 PureView 41-megapixel wonder at MWC in Barcelona. Fast-forward to September and New York, where we launched the most innovative smartphone – the Nokia Lumia 920 and its sister, the Lumia 820. And, as if this wasn’t enough, we also surprised you with Nokia Lumia 620 launch in December.

In between the Lumia launches, we also introduced HERE, made the best location apps even better and celebrated Nokia Asha’s first birthday. We also launched a great line up of affordable feature phones throughout the year – Nokia Asha 311, Asha 308 and 309, Asha 205, Nokia 206 and Nokia 110 to name a few.

In high heels

For Nokia Conversations, I think 2012 has been the year when the blog really grew up. Not just because it’s been led by two Finnish women who both like wearing high heels, but also because our readership figures are at an all-time high and we’ve grown bigger in a bunch of other ways.

Earlier this year, we invited our editors and readers from Nokia Maps, Nokia Connects and Nokia Loud & Gear blogs to join Nokia Conversations. This means that you can now find all the Nokia news in one single place – right here.

Nokia Conversations also continues to be one of the most read corporate blogs in the world. And our international editions add to the mix, providing locally relevant stories in six different languages.

It was in the latter part of the year when I started my own Nokia Conversations adventure, as I assumed the editor-in-chief throne of the blog, following in the footsteps of my great predecessors. I have to say that at times it has felt like running in high heels – but I have loved every minute of it!

2013 is going to be a great year

Without giving away what Nokia might have in store for 2013, it’s safe to say that Nokia Conversations will continue to excite you with more great product news. We will also continue to bring you the inside stories and get you to meet the experts and innovators behind our products.

But Nokia Conversations is nothing without you – our dear readers. Thank you for your continued engagement and passion. Thank you for your comments, feedback and shares. And above all, thank you for coming back to our blog over and over again, bringing a couple of friends with you every time. Thank you for 2012 – let’s make the year 2013 even better and bolder!

Happy holidays! Hyvää joulua!

I have a 808 Pureview and an N9. I gave my Lumia 900 to a friend. The 920 is still WP — music and pics aren’t as good as recent Nokia offerings. Get those heels stomping and make WP Nokia quality!

Tough yet promising year for Nokia… Lumia 920 and 808 are the strongest points of 2012 while release of other lumia phones with not so smart pricing and also delayed releases were disappointing in my opinion…. For me, the release of PR 1.3 for my N9 and of course my new nokia 920 are the best moments from Nokia for this year…. Lets hope new year 2013 will be the year for Nokia as I am anticipating fully fledged Lumia pureview smartphone with 808 class camera and next generation device with flexible amoled display with highly customizable new os based on Linux ;) and some Nokia windows 8 tablet too :)

I couldn’t help myself commenting on this one! The amount of hate comments is absurd! I’m mortified at how uncivilized people can be.

Anyways, I wish the two women running this site that have been running the track to corporate success in their heels, a very merry and prosperous new year!

I hope Nokia has a better year than the last couple – it’s time for a review of the recent strategy and those who lead the company. Nokia – is 2013 the year you get your mojo back?
