We’re very pleased to announce that Nokia has today launched its full range of Lumia WP8 smartphones in India, one of the largest and fastest-growing mobile phone markets in the world.

The Nokia Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 will be available from tomorrow in select retail stores across major cities. The Nokia Lumia 620 will begin sales in early February.

The world’s most innovative smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 920, has wowed reviewers and customers alike with its high-end PureView imaging technology, a screen that’s unmatched for brightness and speed, and its wireless charging capabilities.

The Nokia Lumia 820, our mid-range offering, delivers the same user experience. There are also exchangeable shells, not just to change the colour (though why not?) but also to offer rugged and wireless charging options.

Our latest addition to the line-up, the Nokia Lumia 620 offers all the functionality of Windows Phone 8 at a more accessible price point.

Across the range, owners have access to the best maps and location experience, with Nokia Maps, Drive, Transport and City Lens. There’s our exclusive free streaming music service, Nokia Mix Radio. Meanwhile, exclusive camera lenses and apps – Cinemagraph, PhotoBeamer and Smart Shoot transform the creative potential of the phones.

Bright and varied colour options are also a big part of the Lumia appeal. The Nokia Lumia 920 will be available in yellow, red, white and black. The Nokia Lumia 820 will come in red, yellow, cyan, white and black, while the Nokia Lumia 620 will come in magenta, yellow, cyan, white and black.

Speaking at the launch, Vipul Mehrotra, Director & Head of Smart Devices, Nokia India said:

“We are working with partners across the board to take the Lumia experience to more and more consumers faster. The roll out of not two, but three devices marks not just our intent and agility, but also reflects our commitment to our consumers in India. With a range of accessories and partnerships to bring wireless charging outside the home, we are also kickstarting wireless charging into the mainstream. All this innovation adds up to one thing – it’s Time to Switch!”

The Nokia Lumia 920 will cost around INR 38199, while the Lumia 820 will retail at around INR 27559. The price of the Lumia 620 will be announced when it goes on sale.

Too Little and Too Late. The phones are over priced compared to the competition. Samsung has the momentum and understands that devices sell basis hardware specs in India. No Frontline saleman is going to push for Lumia 920, and no potential customer is going to choose Lumia 920 when the saleman says Quadcore. As a technical person the CPU on the Lumia outperforms the latest Galaxy devices, but as a dumb consumer it is not value for money. A bettter marketing strategy would have been to launch the 920 at Rs 30000 and hold prices for atleast 6 months. Then launch a quadcore WP8 devices at Rs40000 as a new flagship, that would make the 920 much more value for money and sell much more.

The Lumia 800 and 808 were perhaps my last Nokia Devices. Sad to see a slow end to a great legacy.

That’s your opinion. The public will make its own decisions. Not everyone likes your average monotone plastic known as a cell phone. My friend booked in Indore and he is no. 103 out of many on just one store!

I’ve had the phone for a month, loving everything about it.

You consider design, camera, screen, music etc I think its just slightly overpriced. was expecting around 36k. Compare this to the 45k the iPhone 5 is going for, its a steal.

So you’re saying the 920 should be equipped with an expensive CPU it doesn’t need and sold at a 20% lower price because “dumb consumers” won’t even look at a Lumia because it’s not quad-core? You’re not going to buy a 920 even though you know it’s better than the latest Galaxy devices, because dumb consumers think it’s not fast enough because it’s not Quadcore. Your logic is pretty twisted.

I’m not going to buy Lumia 920, too much costly, it’s must be INR 27000 coz is available in INR 24700 USA ($449) & also ONE can buy High End HTC M7 like or Sony Xperiya Z, in INR 38000 to 40000. I suggest wait till MWC in Fab. 25th 28th. Some next generation smartphones are coming far ahead for Lumia 920 and will available at Lumia 920 Price, though Nokia’s Lumia 920 is my Favourite but I’m not going to buy because its 4 months old now and INR 38200 is too much price for a 2012 September device. I’m using Lumia 800 right now and waiting for something new.

@facebook-100001853692566:disqus You do know that HTC M7 and Xperia Z are not even released yet while Lumia 920 is available in market now.
I am using an AT&T Lumia 920 since 4 months and I couldn’t have been happier. Yes the cost is high and it should have been at Rs 30k ideally but then you are forgetting that PureView camera and other features which are not available in any competitive phone no matter what the cost is. You are paying a premium to get premium features.
Also, we should not compare Windows Phone 8 to Android when it comes to CPU power. Android needs powerful CPU because it is not at all optimized as much as Windows Phone is. Even a 1.4 GHz single core CPU ( Lumia 800 ) is enough to run Windows Phone fine.
Windows phone is not about powerful hardware which it doesn’t need to perform tasks with better fluidity than Android. Android may have more “features” but Windows Phone has a better interface and Lumia 920 has a more balanced hardware.

How are you using since 4 months…it released in November.

Finally nice to see 920/820/620′s launch here…everyone, I know , is looking forward to 920 especially after trying my yellow 920 and I guess its 38k price tag is ok this time as Lumia 920 offers so much features against competition which include Galaxy S3,Onex X+ and iphone 5.

I’m getting the same reactions from my own yellow 920. Everyone is like ‘wow that’s amazing’ – and that’s from just looking at the Start screen…

      • http://twitter.com/Hdrules Hradayesh Nimavat

other than the start screen….the overall smoothness while moving from one menu to another and also while navigating through phone is admired by everyone and it actually matches very well with stunning build quality and fantastic display of lumia 920.

I like Nokia India’s strategy of giving the consumers the choice of choosing three new WP8 devices within a months time with three different pricings. I walked to many shops in Bangalore to talk about a booking and I am told the phone has been overbooked everywhere and that I will out the first lot of stocks hitting the market. But I must agree 37000 is steep for me personally but I would rather invest my money on the 920 than the Plastic S3/Note or the Boring iPhone 5.

Altho I hope Nokia India puts in a serious Marketing effort to familiarise people with the devices and technologies and not just show ad’s on tv which become a blind spot after a while.

    Release in the PHL! :)

  • sks

38K is expensive, considering that the Nokia/Windows eco system is still growing, pricing this so high is not going to work. Could be production woes? I hope the price drops, 820 < 25K and 920 <= 30K will be good

    • Suresh

NOKIA please work on your pricing statergy.. make people feel WP8 devices first before pricing them at premium device range.. ideally you should have launched 820 and 620 end of 2012 and then come up with 920 as a premuim device in 4th quarter… I am a life long nokia fan and I am one of the first ones to buy Lumia 800 and I am loving it still… :) also please provide WP 7.8 update ASAP

When 820 and 920 will be available in Estonia?:)

I have been following news about Nokia Lumia 920 ever since it was announced and now I am glad that it has been released in India and the reception for it is good! The price for me is little too much at the moment and I will have to wait for few more days to grab one! But that’s ok.

Nokia India, I have one question and I will be glad if I get an answer here. I have to gift a phone and I was looking at the basic Lumia model that runs on WP7.5. I am in a confusion as to go get one (either 510 or 610) or wait for 620 to be released. I need to get it by the end of this month. So my question is, is it wise for me to wait for 620 than buying a 610? Will the price range for 620 be same as 610? I hope I get an answer to this from you guys as I have to make a decision on this!

I wish you lot of success.

    Thanks!

Hi Ian Delaney, Jill here from Mumbai,India.

I was there at the launch of Lumia 920 in Mumbai & definitely loved the phone to the max. Infact I am planning to get one soon (yellow of-course).

I have some impressions in my mind based on the interaction I have with the people around me & would like to share with you.

    1) Fan, Non-fans both have found the price of Lumia 920 & 820 to be a little steeper. Personally I expected it around INR 34,000.

    2) According to many the price should have been around INR 35,000 for Lumia 920 .. that would have been competitive & premium at the same time.

    3) At the current price Lumia 920 is expensive than SG Note2 & very expensive compared to SGS3 .. & this is resulting in people not going for L920 and settling for SGS3. The latest case being my very good friend, she went for SGS3.

    4) Lumia 820 is really a good phone .. much better in person than what it actually looks on paper.

    5) Lumia 620 is eagerly awaited in India by many (& many around me too, I have made them wait :)) .. They are all people belonging to the category with budget of around INR 15,000.

Hope this helps & hope you can share the same with your team.

I am planning to get a Lumia 920 soon & the future plans are to give the users visiting our blog (NokiaTheOne) an experience of WP8, Lumia 920 & a whole lot of
    Apps. :) :)
