Nokia Lumia 620

Another day and another guide to the Nokia Lumia 620. Last week we gave you ‘a guide to the Lumia 620‘, and just to prove those predominantly positive thoughts and reviews were not anomalies, here’s a another guide to get you thinking about our entry level Nokia Lumia.

Hands-on

Let’s start at the beginning, with a ‘First look’ video from Basil at Know Your Mobile. Look at all those different back covers, which is your favourite?

Highlights include:

“The body is plastic and it feels ri-ri-ridiculously nice”

“It’s a premium device in terms of the functionality you get”

A review

For something more substantial try Andrew Williams’ review over on Trusted Reviews. It’s split into three meaty sections, Design and Features, Screen, Apps and Games and Music, Video and Battery life. Read all the way through, or if you’re in a hurry, skip to the end to find out why the Lumia 620 is a ‘revelation’.

A sample of what it can do

How does all this come together in practice? Well, NokNok.tv have demonstrated nicely what you can expect from the camera on a day out. Recording at 720p and 30 frames per second, at a sea life center.

And here’s an example of the Lumia 620′s front facing camera and comparison of the main camera vs the HTC Mozart. Thanks to Steviet for that one.

So there we have it. What do you think about this entry level Lumia? Have your say in the comments section now or shout at us on Twitter.

when will the Lumia 620 come to Finland?

It’s not customisable, because you can’t buy it anywhere, and you’ll never be able to buy the shells, so if you can’t get it how can you customise it??? I love Nokia phones but i can’t stand the fact the make everything impossible to get hold of. This phone could sell millions, but unless you live in the far east you’ll never be able to buy it. If you live in the uk and want one that isn’t a black one, forget it. Nokia stop using coloured ones in your uk adds cause it’s basically lying.

You can get a few different colours in the UK. Black and White from clove. Blue and White from Vodafone and O2 have all the different coloured shells available.

There are many plus points to the 620 compared to my old C6-01 but two things that I miss. One is vital – there seems to be no way of backing up or administering Contacts onto PC or Skydrive as there was between C6-01 and Nokia Suite. Secondly the completely blank ‘lock’ screen is a big disappointment after the clock and battery indicator of the C6-01. Does anybody know why these have been dropped – particularly the Contacts?

Um, I’ve had an ‘upgrade’ from a Nokia 6303 to a Lumia 620, and I find that I’ve lost my radio function and am apparently unable to run BBC iPlayer to compensate. Any constructive suggestions, please?
