Engadget, one of our favorite technology sites, recently held a contest asking their readers to rank their favorite devices, ranging from TVs to phones and laptops.

To our delight, our customers and fans came through for Nokia again. The Nokia Lumia 920 – the world’s most innovative smartphone – won Best Smartphone of 2012!

lumia_winsWe’re not quite sure if it’s because of innovations like PureView, wireless charging or the amazing super sensitive touch display, but we’re happy and we have all the Nokia customers and fans to thank.

The Lumia 920 won the category decisively, garnering more than 43% of the votes. For comparison, the next best phones in terms of votes only managed to get 15.5%.

In similar news, last week Gizmodo showcased the Nokia Lumia 920 as having the “best smartphone camera” when compared to the competition.

Thanks again for all your votes – we appreciate the support!

Let’s keep the conversation going!

If you could just make your phones a bit smaller then it would be perfect.

Get hands on with the Lumia 620. It’s petit but perfectly formed! Adam loves his.

Well, thanks for the tip. I obviously meant a top end device with a large screen but small bezel. Stilll don’t understand why the 920 and 820 have to be so ridiculously big and heavy.

        • Bataleon

Think of the 920 as an expensive timepiece – big, heavy and
exuberating absolute quality. A Rolex that weighed 50 grams wouldn’t be a Rolex.

        • Matthew Paul

Relatively, the bezels on the 920 aren’t actually that big. The HTC 8X has a 4.3 inch screen and it is still taller than the 920 which has a 4.5 inch screen.

The Z10 is the same height as the 920 but it has a 4.2 inch screen.

They’re all big devices but the 920 has gotten too much slack for its size. I’m using one to type this message out and it is not noticeably heavy.

I was minutes away from purchasing a 920 back in december, but while I waited and played with the demo 920 at the AT&T store I started to realize how many Apps that I use daily on my iPhone 4 that I wouldn’t have on the 920.

Had there not been so many people in the store and my wait so long I would be an owner of a 920.

    Edit: Congrats on the award!

having used Nokia 920 for over a month now – I feel that Lumia 920 is a letdown ( I had purchased it based on such marketing hype ). Its email function is perhaps one of the worst amongst all smartphones and there are features absent in,Lumia 920 which are basic and available elsewhere . The battery life is very less (less than a day and on some days barely 12 hours). The phone gets heated up on continuous usage of about 2 hours . The less said about the apps the better . These are still under development and many require considerable improvement . Also the integration between various features/functions is sub standard. For example one cannot attach office documents to emails from email module; there is no ‘select all’ feature in copy and paste. There is no ‘cut’ feature and many many more like this. Probably the ones that rated this phone did so purely for camera and the screen resolution
