New Camera Extras and Cinemagraph rolling out to all Nokia Lumia smartphones

It’s time to unleash your creativity with the Cinemagraph digital camera lens and updated Camera Extras with object remover rolling out to all Nokia Lumia smartphones.

Nokia Lumia 900, 800, 710, 610 and 510 owners will be able enrich their pictures with increased freedom and fun thanks to these amazing camera features first seen on our latest Windows Phone 8 smartphones.

The new Camera Extras is available for everybody already. Cinemagraph is also now available for Nokia Lumia 900, 800, and 710 smartphones, and will be arriving for the Nokia Lumia 610 and 510 in the coming weeks. When combined with the great new features on Windows Phone 7.8, your Nokia Lumia will feel like a new phone with a wealth of new experiences to play with.

If you haven’t had chance to explore what these camera features bring, here is a quick run through.  

Cinemegraph is like a piece of Hollywood magic in your pocket, and lets you bring your pictures to life by animating a part of the picture, as this example shows.

Cinemagraph allows you to share on your favourite social media sites like Twitter and Facebook using the memories.nokia.com site. Here’s our guide to creating a Cinemagraph.

Second up is the Camera Extras app, which offers Smart Shoot, Panorama, Action Shot and a self-timer. The updated version uses burst mode to take a sequence of photos so you can choose your favorite shot and then remove unwanted moving objects. With UI improvements it really feels like the Smart Camera found in our Windows Phone 8 range.

    On another note, it’s great that you supply QR Codes to link to the apps but remember sometimes people view this info from their phones. You should also provide hyperlinks that can easily be clicked on from a phone. A great feature for mobile browsers would be auto convert QR codes to clickable hyperlinks on the fly.

      Good idea – we could link the QR codes to the web pages. The difficulty is that with Nokia exclusives, they’ll only work on your phone, and people using a computer would find them annoying.

        Well, people on PCs probably would never even check if they are clickable or not, they would just scan the code. Wouldn’t they?

        Only if they click on the links :) No different than clicking on links from othe sities or someone with a non Nokia phone opening the link through the QR codes. I’d call it an incenstive to get a Nokia phone :) But for people viewing the site with their Nokia phone, makes it a lot easier to download the app instead of having to run to a computer to link the QR code. :)

    I waited so much for this so you could only imagine how happy I am since I got them about a week ago. THEY’RE A+MAZING!
    I get that Nokia has a hard time having to bring everything to 7.x devices and that they would rather focus on one product, but let me tell you that we are the most loyal costumers you’ll find and we very much appreciate it! You’re awesome!

      The only thing I would like is a way to share Cinemagraphs to SkyDrive or see my own personal gallery on the web so I can download them from there on the PC. Best solution I’ve found so far is copying the URL to OneNote and open it from there on the PC.

      Still an amazing feature for the Lumia. ;)

    Awesome that this is coming to the 610! I was a little sad when I saw it at first and found it didn’t work on it.

    I only got the 610 last week but it’s already way better than my old android phone!

    Glad to see continuing support for these, especially since most of the 900 users in the NA are still stuck in contract. Any hope for an updated Nokia Drive with a turn list? That’s like all I am waiting for….
