A super phone fit for a hero
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s—the Nokia Lumia 925! Batman’s not the only one with cool accessories this summer: Superman and the Nokia Lumia 925 are now officially a match made in Krypton. Not only is there an official Man of Steel app in the Windows Store, but the phone itself is pretty darn Super. So, let’s see how it matches up to the powers of the man himself.
Clark Kent is, famously, more powerful than a locomotive. He can crush diamonds and bend steel; with the release of Superman #13 in DC Comics’ New 52 series in 2012, we heard that his strength tots up as equal to 5.972 sextillion metric tons. The Nokia Lumia 925 might be quite so hardcore, but it’s certainly no weakling, either.
Its aluminium and polycarbonate frame makes it both slim and ultra-robust, with greater torsional strength than plastic alone would ever achieve. The screen is made of Gorilla Glass 2, a chemically strengthened material known as an aluminosilicate that’s super scratch-resistant and withstands greater compression than regular glass. Factor in, also, Nokia’s renowned craftsmanship and reputation for building indestructible smartphones, and you’ve got a smartphone built for super adventures.
Superman’s x-ray eyesight was premièred in Action Comics #11, way back in 1939, but his super-vision is even better than that: he can also see further and better than anyone else, with astounding accuracy. His telescopic powers allow him to zoom in on far-away objects, and his (you guessed it) microscopic power mean he can hone in on teeny tiny objects. There’s more! He can perceive a range of electromagnetic frequencies that’s beyond the capability of mere humans, and this means that he can see in the dark. Pretty handy, eh?
Well, make way for the Nokia Lumia 925. This high-tech smartphone uses a new generation of image processing software and advanced lens technology for the ultimate in clear and sharp pictures, and it performs amazingly in low light conditions. Top-end Lumia phones like the 920 and 928 already have awesome optical image stabilization, and the Lumia 925 builds upon this by upping the effective maximum ISO of its camera by a whopping four times—from 800 to 3200. Finally, the Nokia Lumia 925 uses LiveSight, an augmented reality feature that works in conjunction with the phone’s PureView 8.7 megapixel lens to point you in the direction of local eateries, shops and tourist attractions. How’s that for x-ray specs?
The Man of Steel isn’t just faster then a speeding bullet: back in the 1930s he was clocked at nearly a hundred miles per hour and in the decades since he’s exceeded the speed of light, never mind the speed of sound. Fan forums across the Web rage with debates about who’s the zippiest: Superman or The Flash.
But there’s no debating the the killer speeds of the Nokia Lumia 925. Its Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Dual-core 1.5GHz processor is the same engine that drives the Lumia 920 and 928, which means it’s impressively fast and even the most sophisticated apps and complex user interfaces will run buttery smooth.
The Nokia Lumia 925 supports 4G internet access, which, if your mobile network allows it, leaves 3G trailing in its wake, and if you’re still itching for speed, you better try some of the time-saving apps that fill up the Windows Store: Lists & Things, Chronos Calender, or Evernote, to name just three.
So! Superman finally has a superphone worthy of the name.
