That can be a tough job, and there’s always the risk that you’ll miss a crucial work message or a request to connect from someone you really want to speak to.

It is one mark of a successful person, that they can ‘conquer the chaos’ and create order from all the content feeds that they’re tracking (like the example above). So, we want to help you be successful in both your work life and your personal life.

In a series of posts over the coming weeks as part of the Nokia@Work program, we’re going to look at how you can create some order in how you communicate, both to help you do business and make sure you’re on track to get the best from your phone.

Author, trainer and learning and development expert, David Rivers, has talked about the use of Microsoft OneNote as a way of boosting productivity:

“Disorganization is a productivity killer. With OneNote, you can keep your important information and content well organized and easy to locate in a notebook, with color coded sections, page groups, and pages. Now share that notebook with a team, and individuals can contribute to the same notebook simultaneously. OneNote keeps track of the changes and updates your notebook on the fly. You’ll always know who contributed what, and when”.

It’s a matter of allowing your mobile device to become integrated with all your other devices.  After all, why should they be disconnected entities? Instead of trying to keep track of what is on which device, you should be able to seamlessly access, update and share your data. In forthcoming posts we’ll explore how this can be achieved with Nokia Lumia.

We had so much fun as Angela took us on a whistle stop tour of the unofficial fashion capital of the world; taking in the sights and sounds of a bustling inner city shopping district. We even had time to stop for some traditional Italian food (which Angela kindly took photos of, for her other part time hobby – food blogging).

On the trip we learned lots about how Angela used her Lumia 920 to capture fashion inspiration from some of the leading fashion designers on the planet and we also got a taste of her day-to-day life as a fashion blogger (satisfying her 55,000 + followers on Twitter and a community of fans across a wide range of social networks with regular fashion updates). 

We started the day by taking the Milan Metro down to the famous Piazza del Duomo in the centre of the city, taking in some luxury brands along the way.

Duomo Square is an unbelievable place, rich with Italian architecture and we captured all of it with not only the film camera (as you’ll see in the video above) but also with the Lumia 920.

As the light started to fade we thought it would be a good idea to do a fashion shoot in front of the famous Duomo di Milano. Angela got her make-up professionally applied in a local retail store, changed her outfit and then gave us the signal that she was ready to go!

Crowds came to us from far and wide to see what we were doing and then everybody started to snap away with their digital cameras!

At night (to end the day) Angela took on us stroll around the famous outdoor markets to take in the wonderful bright colours of the fabrics and foods that inspire her work online.

A perfect end to an incredible day in Italy! We had so much fun with Angela, she was amazing company and knew so much about Nokia. She even coined the term ‘Re#Switch’ because she felt like she had never left Nokia, see for yourself.

Nokia Connects GO!

We introduced NC GO! in 2012 as a way for you guys at home to show us the skills that pay your bills using a Lumia phone. Since the launch we’ve been sent a truck load of cool videos and photos, so here are just a couple of our favourites.

Jacob Spera + a Lumia 900 + a unicycle = a talented guy, pulling off some incredible tricks down a huge hill whilst capturing the whole thing on his Lumia 900.

Bring on 2013!

Described as ‘Terminator vision’, this Stuff Middle East piece identifies how augmented reality uses the Lumia 920′s camera, accelerometer and GPS connections to map out where the user is and where they are going. It’s a very bright and insightful look at the swift and effective use of the Lumia 920′s software and signals the huge potential the device has.

In laymen’s terms, this is just cool. Using only a Lumia 920 camera, this video truly puts the device’s motion-capturing qualities to the test.  Shot handheld, Norwegian Anders candidly films his musician friends, Benjamin Dante, Mads von Froberg and Jonas Jarlkov performing their new song, Reach For The Sky in a Danish studio. The conditions were of extremely low light, but with the Lumia 920′s superb video-capturing capabilities, it was a piece a cake – thus why Arun Prasad seems so enamored by it. The tune is somewhat catchy as well.

The Lumia 920′s camera is so good that ‘nothing compares to it’, according to Dustin in his review of the product.  After spending a week with the Lumia 920, he was shocked by the ‘unbelievable’ quality of pictures and video to the extent that he bluntly stated: “I don’t know how they do it but it’s awesome.” Additionally, he praised the ‘cool’ video hub app which consists of the full history of music and videos on your phone. All in all, he couldn’t help but be ‘really happy with the phone.’ Hip hip hooray!

And finally, we have a ride on the wilder side. Literally. Iytoa Wang’s video brilliantly showcases the Lumia 920′s optical image stabilisation capabilities as he films himself bungee jumping and whizzing down a zipwire above a beautiful beach. The vivid and clear nature of the footage is enough to leave a good man (or woman) feeling slightly envious.

He then backed up these initial thoughts in his review.

“It’s a refinement unlike any other device (please discard your Apple iPhones) because Nokia, with the new Microsoft Windows Phone 8 OS, has provided a holistic user experience that Apple can only envy. The smartphone has grown-up, and this device represents the next generation of smartphone technology”.

It became clear to us that there wasn’t just one Gratton in this trial process. Both @Grattonboy and @Grattongirl were at logger heads sharing the Lumia love!

There was even some actual wrestling for the phone!

“Both Sarah (@grattongirl) and I wrestled (on occasions, affectionately) with each other taking it in turns to experience the Nokia Lumia 920. Sarah downloaded anything and everything to compare the experience against her Apple iPhone 4S.”

Overall, Dean was impressed with the phone. So impressed, in fact, that he didn’t want to send it back!

“The only thing that makes us remorseful about the Lumia is the fact that, as reviewers, we have to return it; a sad reality that’s made us consider going into temporary hiding to avoid the DHL courier – honestly, he’s going to have to pry it from our desperate fingers!”

Lynsey over at Law of Fashion has created a simply beautiful mood board around the LeiVanKash Flora collection. Lynsey found inspiration during her travels, taking in architecture, vintage fashion and her own personal style.   

The lovely Merily from Sequin Magazine selected the beautiful LeiVanKash Totem collection after a visit to the Estonian Museum of Natural History. Merily titled her mood board ‘Cetonia Aurata’, which is Latin for Rose Chafer. 

Last but not at all least is the hugely talented Georgiana from Vintage Traffic. Georgiana used the Lumia to capture moments from her daily life and created StyleBooks using one of our favourite Lumia apps, StyleSaint. Check out her Persopolis-themed mood board. Genius!

Talk about a 360 degree attack on your senses! 

What happened?

Nokia Connects turned up at the Nokia UK event knowing very little about what exactly was going on. The whole show was shrouded in secrecy, we knew deadmau5, lights, lasers and music were all in the mix, but that was it.

It was dry (which makes a change for the UK), the air was crisp, the street was packed with Nokia/deadmau5 fans and a full moon illuminated the sky behind the Shard. 

It was like being on a film set for a big budget movie; local convenience stores had been taken over for the night by Nokia (spot the bemused neighbour below), 40 policemen and 40 security guards were present and there was a very eerie and mysterious vibe in the air as everyone waited in anticipation.

Then, from nowhere, the iconic deadmau5 helmet appeared from the rooftops and the party kicked off with a bang!

Windows, walls, lamp posts, bins (yes, actual wheelie bins), shops and even old graffiti started to come alive with light, pulsing in time with deadmau5′s tracks . Lasers and speakers engulfed the roofs around us, huge disco balls were driven around the site on trucks and giant NOKIA LUMIA signs were wheeled past.   

Just when we thought the set was over; deadmau5 ran down from the building, cycled past the crowd on an LED BMX and continued playing on a raised moving platform, without his famous mask on!  

After closing the show he headed off to the Electric Brixton for the Nokia after party.

Let’s not go into too much detail here…if you own a Lumia I’m sure you are aware of how well the maps perform, and you may have even bought the phone specifically because of that fact. It’s safe to say that there isn’t much use for the other solutions available in the marketplace!

This app is a great example of what can be done within Metro, it’s swift, stylish and intuitive. When you don’t know what’s around you (which is most probably the case when you are traveling) you can search 80,000 hotels and book a room from the app too.

In a nutshell: Look up train times and purchase railway tickets in the UK

If you ever find yourself in the UK and are planning a trip by train, thetrainline is the one stop shop for all of your railway needs.

In a nutshell: It’s astronomically good (sorry)! 

This app substitutes all utility and replaces it with fun. Point your camera into the night’s sky and the screen will display constellations, planets or deep space objects in quite some detail. This one is great for when you’re out in the wilderness!

Availability: Everywhere

In a nutshell: Translate languages with your Lumia

A must have when you’re visiting a foreign country. Translator lets you use your camera to translate text, voice recognition for speech and text input via keyboard for text. One really nice thing is that you can download phrase books so you can translate things without a network connection. #Win

In a nutshell we’ve renamed our location services ‘Here’ and laid out the vision for the future of mobile maps, available for Nokia Windows Phone, iOS (pending Apple approval), Android and Firefox OS (coming soon).

We also introduced LiveSight, a technology based on a highly accurate, 3D map of the world, which provides the most precise and intuitive augmented reality experience. Nokia City Lens, developed exclusively for Nokia Lumia devices, is the first application using LiveSight.

This version of Nokia HERE Maps is based on HTML5, which may raise a red flag for those who prefer native applications for performance reasons, but Nokia’s live demonstration looked pretty good – better than using Google Maps in web mode, which we tried during a recent overseas trip”.
