What’s the most important feature in a mobile gaming device?

By Mike on 19 August 2009

Nokia N86 8MP is N-Gage ready for premium pocket gamingGLOBAL – Over the past few weeks we’ve run a series of polls asking you what the most important feature in a camera phone, web browsing device, and most recently, a music phone. This week we thought we’d dust off our thumbs and point them at mobile gaming devices.

Now, N-Gage is arguably the best gaming experience you can have on a Nokia device, with the most sophisticated service, best graphics, online connectivity, yada, yada. But what’s most important to you? And let’s not forget Java games that funnel fun into the palms of most people using mid to entry level devices.

Throw your hat in the ring and vote for what matters to you most!

And the beat goes on, and on, and on…

Comment of the week – “pixels like shifting sand”

By Mike on 14 August 2009

Pixels SandGLOBALCloud computing is one of those hot topics that continues to generate heaps of interesting conversation, particularly as many of us have now begun to welcome it and experience what it can offer to our daily mobile lives. The subject again reared its fluffy head within the last seven days, in Charlie’s story entitled Of surveillance, gigalapses, and our trust in the Cloud.

This week’s winning comment was one of a number of smart and insightful points made around the topic of reliability and personal responsibility when it comes to storing our content on the cloud. It was a tough call, but the winning commenter topped the podium thanks to a sprinkle of poetic charm that wooed our scribbler side. Read on to find out who bagged this week’s comment of the week and has won a copy of Gravity, our favourite Twitter app for S60 devices.

On jumping the gap

By Charlie on 14 August 2009

BOSTON, USA – Just yesterday I wrote about how you sometimes never know what folks will develop, or not develop, for a device. True, one commentor split hairs over what might be core or not core. But, the point is, when a device goes out, it might never end up in the hands of the user in the same way the product manager imagined a pristine device would.

Read on as I show examples of this and elaborate a bit further on this thread.

Comment of the week – Gravity winner

By JBC on 07 August 2009

GLOBAL – It seems quite clear that our current polls are proving to be the center point of discussion on Conversations. The latest on mobile web browsing has no less than 21 comments right now, but for me one stood out just a nose in front of the others. Of course there’s a ton that can be said about mobile web browsing, and plenty of people made similar points relating to speed (all very valid) which is proving to be one of the hotter notions on the poll, but Kanak Bhandari went a little bit further with something I hadn’t previously considered. Read on to find out what he had to say.
