ESPOO, Finland - After about 18 months building and growing this site (with a great team and lots of support, mind you), I’m stepping down as Editor-in-Chief of Nokia Conversations. Starting today, I’ll be stepping out of the day to day operations of the site and ancillary channels. After taking my holidays in July, I’ll be providing support to the new guy (introduction coming later). I might pen a few articles in August and September, but after that I will no longer be on the team.
Read on for what this means for Nokia Conversations

GLOBAL - As you all must know by now, the Pass the Parcel game ended with PhoneDog.com winning (among other things) the Nokia 5530 XpressMusic that was inside the parcel. We also told you that all participants on our list would be getting a 5530 to review.
What we also hinted at was that we’d see what we could do to reward all of you folks who were avidly commenting and guessing what was in the parcel. And, yes, we’re happy to say, after a laborious and scientific process, we have chosen someone from the ranks of commenters.
Read on to find out who it was.

GLOBAL - Uncharacteristically, we have another “administrative” announcement. The last one was pretty recent and mentioned things like Blogbite, @nokconv on Twitter, and blogs.nokia.com. This time around we want to introduce something a bit larger.
One thing that we’ve been wishing for is a central place that has all the information on a particular product or service. No, we don’t mean some static page with fancy graphics and long lists of technical specs. What we wanted was a page that had some info on the product, some photos, some dynamic ever-changing info about the product, and something fun. A jumping-off place for all you would want to know about a particular product.
What we came up with is The Almanac. And we think it’ll be a hit. Read on for more details.

ESPOO, Finland - The Nokia Conversations Blogbite is a really fun way to keep up with our articles here on Nokia Conversations. It’s a weekly audio summary by Rob Knight and Dan McGrath, available every Friday afternoon.
To listen to it, there’s a Blogbite player in the upper right of our site, and a feed for your favorite podcast app or for iTunes.
But, what’s better, we’ve managed to include the Nokia Conversations Blogbite into the Nokia Podcast Directory, found in many Nokia phones (learn more about the podcasting app on Nokia.com). If you have the Nokia podcasting app on your phone, the Nokia Conversations Blogbite can be found in the Featured Podcasts listing.
Below, I show you some screenshots to help you set this up.

ESPOO, Finland - Every so often it’s good to put out a wee administrative message about who we are, what our goals are, and how to follow us. And, yes, this is one of them, about some ways to follow what we produce here at Nokia Conversations.
As you should be aware by now, we have a few different streams you can follow. We have video, presentations, bookmarks, and, of course, this site. We’re doing our best to fill the streams and interact with everyone who participates in those streams.
Below, I’ve listed some of the newer streams, particularly highlighting some we haven’t properly promoted yet. So, read on and see if you’ve missed any.

HELSINKI, Finland - Nokia is involved in a number of initiatives to help develop and support the ambitions of young people (such as YouthActionNet), and similarly raise awareness for crucial global concerns such as sustainability (see Dreams Workshop). This week our attention was drawn to a program that Nokia has been supporting since 2007, started by the European Commission with a view to addressing the lack of women in IT careers. To tackle this problem, Nokia joined the ’shadowing days’ scheme, which sees girls visit Nokia and shadow the women working there to get a much greater understanding of the life and careers of women working in this area, and as the EU Commission puts it, prove that technology is not “strictly for geeks!”.
Recently a 13 year-old girl called Rosemarie Hartman, with ambitions to study Maths, Science and Technology, visited Nokia headquarters to do exactly that, and created a video diary of her day shadowing women within the company, from meetings about Comes With Music to teleconferences about recycling and a visit to the Nokia flagship store in Helsinki. It’s a great little video, that gives a candid insight into how the ’shadowing day’ program works as well as a peek behind the scenes at Nokia House. Click to watch the full video.
